Seems like it's for real.

A day after that stupid webcast said no Kitakami.

I loled

Da Komrade. No Kitikam return. See it's called Okhotniks so you see komrade the name is different so not the same ship!

If this DD can ambush you then you are totally screwed, no ship can withstand 12 torps at that range with that amount of Alpha potential (that it will face).

This could be a DD with a Captain trained just for it in BFT and AFT could be a nasty little gun boat 7 130mms guns at tier 5.

My guess: one week in the shop and then enter the Nicolai club. It is probably coincidence that this exclusive club only opens the doors to Russian ships :-)

Frim the stats the okhotnik looks like a piece of solid turd. No way that thing is on any level near the gremlin.

Purely personal, but I'd rather not see a single ship more in the client flying the hammer and sickle. :trollface:

With this said however, this thing does not seem to be that brutal on stats. I mean, Derzki had ten 4km tubes at T3, this thing has 12@T5 with 4,5km. ...albeit with retarded alpha. It seems that it will nuke everything that it hits with a full broadside. Just out of curiosity, I checked the client for the potential damage of a full torpedo salvo of some T5 ships - everything is stock:

Destroyer Torp. Broadside Alpha Range
Kamikaze 86400 7 km
Minekaze 64998 7 km
Gnevny 86400 4 km
Nicholas* 70398 / 140796 5,5 km
T-22 82200 7 km
Okhotnik 166404 4,5 km

*with 6 torps of only one side / 12 torps after turning

Huh... okay. Given that a basic Montana has a HP of 96300 and a TPDR of 37%, now, I am not completely sure about the mechanism of torp hits, the damage saturation and the areas protected by the bulge, but this thing - according to the most stupid, easiest "calculation" model (0,63*166404=104834,5>96300) - could sink a Montana in a few clicks. That's of course, most likely not the case at all, but it's still rather, well, good.

At this point I don't know if anyone cares or even if I do this right, but whatever, let's math more. I'll try to calculate some sort of potential DPS of the above mentioned destroyers by multiplying AP alpha with the number of guns and divindig it with the reload times.

Destroyer AP alpha / Nr. of guns Reload rate DPS
Kamikaze 2000 / 4 10 s 800
Minekaze 2000 / 4 10,9 s* 734
Gnevny 2500 / 4 5 s 2000
Nicholas 2200 / 5 6,5 s 1692
T-22 2200 / 4 4 s 2200
Okhotnik 2500 / 7 10 s 1750

* again, everything is stock for the sake of simplicity

Sure, there are many more, rather important factors as well, like maneuverability, concealment, top speed, dispersion, shilouette, AP penetration (so this might screw up for example the T-22 with her low caliber guns that otherwise looks good on paper) and whatnot, so don't give too much weight to all of this, all this is just some "thinking out loud". An important note is however, the penetration values of the Okhotnik are 117mm@5km and 72mm@10km.To continue my examination, it seems like a rational step to further compare the new ugly little duckling with the Gnevny.

  Gnevny Okhotnik
Turret rotation
Firing range
HE / AP velocity [m/s]
36 s / 180°
10,8 km -> 11,9 km
870 / 870
36 s / 180°
9,2 km
861 / 861
Max. speed 38 kts 34,5 kts
Turning circle radius
Rudder shift
610 m
6,1 s -> 4,4 s
730 m
3,3 s
HP 11700 -> 13900 12700
Surface Detectability 7 km 6,5 km
Air Detectability 3,6 km 4,4 km
AA lol even worse

All(?) things considered, as expected, poor turning circle for a destroyer, mediocre speed, but surprisingly good rudder shift. With a 4pt captain skill and a camo, if the percentages are additive, one can push the surface detectability down to ~5,66km, so there is still a good 1 km margin there to lauch torps. Banzai'ing or ambushing might be an option though, if the Okhotnik gets a lucky MM and there isn't a whole lot of sonar around her so being able to use her smoke, and then I imagine one could sink 4 targets potentially with the 4*3 torps if the stars align very, very, VERY right. Not sure what those 450mm tubes are filled with, probably distilled, purified soviet wrath is what we are talking about.

But would I give money for this thing? Absolutely not. Seems to me like a usual gunboat (with a smaller chance on successfully toying with ammo types due to slow reload speed) with torpedoes that probably have the same effect of self-destructing the ship with a nuclear warhead. I mean you die, but take some with you in a 4,5km radius.

I'll try to remember to keep my distance (Okhotnik's speed is nothing extraordinary) and I should be fine. Mostly. Apart from burning. I can see however how this thing can wreak havoc in confined spaces with her 47 second torpedo tube reload speed compared to Gnevny's 70 sec or T-22's 68 sec, what the hell, WG?! It's almost the same as the Minekaze's (42 s), and it has dual mounts!

I take it back, it is broken.

Then again, please, keep in mind that I am no expert by any means.
