One typo, "semicolon" doesn't even have one definitive spelling, and "stupidest" has no grammatical reason not to exist.

If you're going to be pendantic, I might as well just point out that ellipses have spaces between each perdiod, like so: " . . . "

peridod?

I wasn't being pedantic, I was just joking in that post. But if you're serious, sure.

<Pendantic>

Next list:

1. Semicolon does have an agreed upon spelling, preferred without hyphen (Oxford dictionary), hyphen is tolerated though. "Semi colon" is not correct.

2. Don't be stupid, see: https://languageandgrammar.com/2008/05/09/stupid-grammar-error/

3. The spaces between an ellipsis are a typographical matter, not a grammatical one. Once this forum supports LaTeX, I'll see what I can do.

I'm prepared to concede Panzer's post was accurate, but the thing with the full stops...

Which is of course a unique thing on a forum where people assault each other all the time with statistics generated by playing virtual ships :sceptic:

It was a list, that should have used commas at the very least hence the superiority of the semi-colon in that case.  Certainly full stops were wrong.

For the list to be written the way you want, with lower case first letters and no full stops at the end of each line, the list (with lead-in) would have to constitute a complete sentence.

If you are just listing various items as a column without a lead-in, then they should be treated as individual sentences with capitalization. Full stops are more a stylistic choice when you're talking about a list not part of a sentence. Generally it's full stops for items which themselves constitute sentences and no punctuation at all for words or sentence fragments, but never both in the same list.

We're not going to agree on this.

Maybe if you have a semi rectum perhaps. I think you'll find that the colon is actually not that close to your behind. :smart_fish:

This is a pedantic discussion. Don't come here with your vague jokes. :B

By the way, a better, more cunning retort would have been: go away with your half-a$$ed jokes.

Just sayin'.

Then why did you make a topic on the forum?

Just send in a ticket, a mail or a private message to a WG employee.

I just ate a lot of sweets in one go and when I say a lot I mean it (and I would do it again). For this act of bravery and the ability to take the suffering I will soon experience due to sugar and nuts overload WG should really award me at least 10 Mio. credits.
