Would be a good counterpoint to UK low alpha, again like in WoT. Problem is, WoT has more cover and BBs don't like to get near islands anyway. And frankly, another CL line that struggles against BBs but eats lighter ships would be superfluous. Give us something to fight the goliaths with panache. Maybe she'll get a special premium camouflage that has a -100% chance of citadel detonation, without which she and all the British battleships would detonate from the 130mm guns of stronk Soviet DDs. You're going to be disappointed. The French had average to low RoF guns. The 152-155mm guns found at tiers 4 to 6 only had 3-5 rpm IRL. The 203mm were also very average in that regard. Speed will be average to above average, depending on tiers. Armor will go from abysmal to best of the tier (on paper). AA could go either way. The DPAA batteries will probably be on par with later tier Russian cruisers, but mid caliber will be poor, unless they manage to fit a twin 57mm bofors mount in there somewhere. Low range will be the usual Orelikon spam. Honestly, there's no telling how the branch will play out. We just have to wait and see.

Seems like speed is going to be part of the "gimmick" of French cruisers: "French Cruisers are coming to World of Warships, and boy are they fast! Get a first look at the ten new French ships being added to the game below, and keep an eye on the horizon for further reports!" From the front page post, first paragraph https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/updates/oh-la-la/ After you leave the low tier 20 knot things, you get speeds between 30 and 34 knots. That's not exactly ground breaking. Russian cruisers hit speeds higher than that. IJN CA routinely hit 34 knots. They're making senseless hints.
CleverViking Players 503 posts 1,982 battles Report post #107 Posted March 6, 2017 (edited) They're making senseless hints. True, but they might deviate a bit from historical accuracy to differentiate it from other lines. I believe this has happened to a couple of ships (?), but can't really say either way because I'm not really the type of guy that read about the historical performance and specifications of ships. I leave that sort of thing to the more hardcore history nuts on the forum Edited March 6, 2017 by CleverViking

Every gun 180mm+ will get an assured HE citadel on the T4 and T5 by the way Welp, time to bring out the Furry Taco again. Not necessarily... If it has a nice little citadel plating on the outside, HE away. That thing will take citpens from heavy cruisers like the Emerald and Danae take HE citpens from the Minekaze (true story). But I believe that the French in that period of time believe more in compartimentalization than armor, so any hit would ultimately not cause the ship to sink. This might mean that the citadel might not be exposed, but rather have an external layer/compartment covering it. If that's the case, you'll have to go through the effort to tap "1" in order to quintuple citpen it with the Furrytaco
[POI--] dasCKD Quality Poster 2,376 posts 19,148 battles Report post #112 Posted March 7, 2017 They're making senseless hints. The speed consumable was developed for the RN cruisers before they regained their smoke. The speed consumable would have made them faster than any ship in the game if rumors were to be believed and this is considering ships like the Udaloi and Khabarovsk. The French cruisers might be getting that consumable instead.
