H-41 is in game - as it was to be, basically, H-39 with 42cm guns mounted. H-44 was nothing more than a study of "what would be needed to have a ship that can withstand air power" and finished with conclusion that it is actually impractical to try to build anything like that. Design A-150 went through quite some axing in the study process and when actual design works started, she would be a slightly enlarged Yamato with more frustrating armament. Unryu does not have currently place in the tech tree (as they were based on Hiryu design with all its drawbacks and would not reach the qualities of Taiho and Super Taiho).

So yeah, the same rule applies to the Axis projects too. Or the British cruisers.

What's your take on the location chosen for their floatplane launch rails Tuccy? I know it's featured like that in some of the early design work but other have them moved (more traditionally) to the aft ship.

I know there's the 2 hangars with the semi-revolving doors but still, would this have been practical? Also the (floatplane?) cranes as featured on both the Grosse and Currywurst seem to be ill-equipped for the job of actually lifting anything beyond a dingy.

Super Yamato was planned before the end of the war. As was Unryu, H-44, and H-41. All you've actually said it's that it's okay for Russia to get ships launched in the 50s because designers started them in the 30s. If so, that should apply to Axis powers too. If anything, the Axis powers have the best excuse for getting these designs, as they basically knew they were going to war.

Is there any place for A-150, H-44 or Unryu in the game? Outside a hypothetical Tier 11?

No.

Hey, here is your answer why we don't have those!

Amazingly easy.

Isn't GK essentially a scaled down, not too silly H-44. Although as far as I know none of the H series designs actually used triple turrets, anything past H-39 is already fiction anyway.

Wargaming is, and always will be, making games where Russian/Soviet force will be overrepresented due to the fact that they are a Belarusian company catering, mostly, to eastern market. They will introduce as many ships as they can, even if the designs will be based on 'secret documents', and no amount of complaining will change that fact.

GK = H41 ( well H39 with armament plans found in a secret Russian archive somewhere, of a German designed triple turret meant for their own navy ).

Not really, Tuccy just said FdG with the 42cm option is basically already H41. To be honest, it would have made more sense to not give FdG the gun option, have GK with 8x 42cm and buff RoF to make up the DPS instead of giving it triple turrets.

She could still work quite well as a tier 8 premium carrier with some touches to make her competitive with the Shokaku.

FdG = H39, FdG with fictional guns is H41, Curry would indeed be H42 :)

I don't think 4x2 would have worked with higher rof as the higher rof would only give higher theoretical dpm which you wouldn't always be able to utilize. More historical != practical in game.

No, I want the real Japanese cold war super project.

WoWS has to follow the nautical theme. Godzilla will be introduced to World of Tanks instead.

One of the main reasons for me not to advance above T8 is the possibility to meet cold war ships there. I'm just not really interested in them and would really prefer a "historical" setting for the tiers and ships within.

Alas, that will not happen. So I just do my best to reduce chances to meet those abominations.

When there's a real good historical simulation, I might be tempted to go for it instead of WoWs.

Ya already did, Habakkuk is ingame. Ya will get it shortly- it's modelled already(got some dev info slightly wrong until checked source). Just not as a playable ship, but as a map decoration which'll be used on some future maps:trollface:

Last time I checked the planes and equipment you keep on deck aren't made of ice.

Of course the real answer is it's Russian developer, and there's a sizable Russian player base, so they want to put in full Russian trees. And the only way to do this is to include cold-war era vessels.

That said, I don't have a problem... It was never really a dedicated WW2 game anyway, the first half of the tiers are predominantly WW1, with a continuous chronological trend through the tiers. Who says it needs to stop at WW2.

Nope, those were made of ice too, as were the pilots.
