Be bold and play a battleship. Be confused and play a carrier. Or was that the other way around. kek

Venatacia Beta Tester 872 posts 5,885 battles Report post #36 Posted January 10, 2017 Would only recommend it to someone I hate. Couldn't recommend it to a good friend only to see the frustration on their faces as they go through what most of us do on a daily basis. Actually I did recommend this game to two friends when the game was in CBT and they both hate the game with a passion. "Fancy playing ships tonight I ask them", Yeah I don't think so - they say. Afterall, none of you would be here if you did not find it worth your time, and possibly your money as well. Then you have your sales pitch.

I play World of Battleships becuase there is really no other alternative currently available. Used to like Battlestations Midway back in the day, but there really are no other games like this out there that i know of. [CAIN] G01ngToxicCommand0 Beta Tester 2,177 posts 23,318 battles Report post #39 Posted January 10, 2017 Hi there, one of my friends at work was asking about the WoWS reddit page I was browsing during lunch and I started to tell him about the game but stopped after a few seconds when I realised I was so sick of the game that I couldn't even fake any enthusiasm when trying to "sell" the game to him and maybe start him as a new player. I mean I genuinely couldn't think of a single thing about this game that would make me recommend it to a friend, I just couldn't. The game has changed so dramatically since I started playing in April '16 that all the carefully laid out "balance" the game had back then is long gone and with the balance gone the game is much worse and I just don't see it getting any better. I know I'm a bit burnt out right now (even my favourite co-op is filled with mouth breathing morons who couldn't win if it was 8 v 1 bot) so I'm probably not the person to to approach but my mate still seemed pretty keen so what can I tell him about the game thats positive, that'll sell the game to him? To be honest I find it harder and harder to 'sell' WoWS to anyone due to the deteriorating quality of the already low skill community and certain game mechanics that persists that prevents WoWS from being categorised as a naval warfare game as WoWS is basically nothing more than WoT on a flat board reskinned with ship models with different ballistic and damage mechanics. Still fun from time to time but the frustrations experienced in WoT have already shown themselves in WoWS regrettably. No real point in grinding any line to tier 10 other than for the sake of collecting really due to lack of endgame material and low quality of the average player who generally are a hindrance to me having a good gamig experience - selfish point of view sure, but that doesn't make it less true that the majority of players are so bad at this game that everyone would be better off if they played non multiplayer games.

veso_vn Weekend Tester 29 posts 4,720 battles Report post #42 Posted January 11, 2017 I personally like it more than WoT because is more easy to learn . No premium ammo . Even if you are low tier you can still burn or torpedo things . Balansing is a problem for all games so just tell him to try the game and he will see for him self like it or not

Same goes for WoT. People think they should win more than they do. The unfortunate problem is that if you're better than everyone else, then everyone else is by default worse than you. So by their standards everyone else isnt doing what they should. Human nature to expect to win more than they should. You have bad/average players who think they should win more without understanding why they lose, and you get good players who get it into their heads that they're amazing players and suddenly start thinking 55%WR = win every game

fatmonk ∞ Players 118 posts 8,961 battles Report post #46 Posted January 11, 2017 (edited) Id say: If you want a game like CS, just with ships, Go play WOWS and you never have to think again! - And you don't have to be good at it at all. Because of a carefully thought out skill system, and ship buffs and nerfs that promotes lots of bad gameplay. Edited January 11, 2017 by fatmonk

Ishiro32 Alpha Tester 2,303 posts 1,149 battles Report post #48 Posted January 11, 2017 You like naval history of WW2? Give it a shot, the theming of this game is quite good. Sound and graphics really are the best part of this game. The models are of the highest quality and just having some of your favourite ships in port is a joy. You don’t love the theme? Ignore this game as outside of it, the design team is dissapointing to say the least and company itself suffers greatly from their bussiness structure which results in drasticly different treatment of the servers. The deeper you go the more holes and broken elements you will see.
