[CU] Cheradanine [CU] Players 57 posts 11,248 battles Report post #1 Posted January 6, 2017 Hi, I found myself msging a couple of people after games today to say gg, wp, thx for the teamplay, etc. Had some nice games, with cruisers staying near my BB during air attacks (after being asked) and then supporting effectively for rest of the match, and a team following a seemingly suicidal push that ended in victory (again after people suggesting it in a pleasant manner in chat). It occurs to me there is so much negativity and unpleasant behaviour in the game, maybe trying to be nice occasionally would counter it. So, my challenge (and I appreciate that many will look at this and swear at me/insult my mother/call me a noob/etc) is this; Say gg or wp or even use actual words to express positivity in the direction of a fellow player. Post the results. Enjoy.

Tubit101 Players 1,189 posts 4,745 battles Report post #5 Posted January 6, 2017 This is one of the main differences I've noticed after switching from EU to NA. In almost every game, some players will congratulate the winning team or some enemy player who they think performed well. It's a great display of sportsmanship and it always makes me feel like a bit of a dirtbag for being salty.
[CU] Cheradanine [CU] Players 57 posts 11,248 battles Report post #6 Posted January 6, 2017 Good to see some likeminded people. I didn't think I was alone in just being generally nice to people in game*, but this is more aimed at the people who would never consider messaging someone to say "gg thx for help" or similar after the game. Nice to hear the above nonetheless. *I did say generally nice. I am guilty of consistently counter-trolling. If you are being a [edited]in chat I will most likely take you down. Challenge accepted etc.
CleverViking Players 503 posts 1,982 battles Report post #7 Posted January 6, 2017 Was actually on the receiving end of this. I'd had a bad strings of matches and finally played a good match in my Mahan where I ended up doing the final push with a Bayern. I did quite well and ended up at the top of the scoreboard and the Bayern messaged me after to commend me and apologise for a "killsteal" (actually he saved my [edited]). We actually had a good chat and played some games after so I can't do anything other than to reccomend what OP said. Just had same from following my own advice - incredibly confusing conversation with a german guy after a great match. We broke that language barrier and shook hands about a few minutes well spent together. N1 Viking

EsaTuunanen Beta Tester 3,552 posts 8,863 battles Report post #17 Posted January 7, 2017 Try to say something positive when I see someone doing good, if I'm not fully occupied by heavy duty carrying, which is so often the state after early match. So mostly it's to carrier for spotting cap where I'm heading when shooting battle hasn't yet started. Though week or two ago had good occasion... just without any chat. Had division of Leander and Warspite from same clan actually push behind me to west cap in Estuary with Leander smoking. Shortly after some enemy moved to cap so I pushed little spotting Kamikaze. With closest enemy cruiser too far to hit me I kept pushing until Kamikaze went down from Leander's hit. After doing turn outside the cap to make sure I didn't eat Kami's super fishes I returned to help in capping. Laying smoke screen to make sure Leander and Warspite stayed hidden for longer and moving to side to spot enemies Around that time first enemy cruiser came into cap... and didn't survive long. I think there was also other cruiser, but at least Kongo and some other BB pushing fast behind it. Damn WASD haxers didn't eat stealth fired torps so had to start moving back from cap. Leander also moved out from cap, while obviously Warspite lacked agility to get out alive. But before enemy got that cap Kongo went down and other enemies took beating. After that it was retreating battle toward "home cap" in North while rest of the team from other flank eventually got enemy cap. Ended up with three kills, just like Leander, after switching to guns from futile torping attempts. We three topped scoreboard and gave both compliment. Returning to port was greeted by message of compliment and I think Karma had risen from previous check by four. That match was more like what this game was in closed beta.
[SCRUB] BadGene616 Beta Tester 773 posts 8,197 battles Report post #18 Posted January 7, 2017 If it gets too lovey dovey I'm gonna feel bad sinking people. Or not ;-) This has worked for me: If I +1 someone in game I'll tell them that I have and why. Usually it gets a very positive response back. Often you'll find people in the team agree. And it's not usually the "you did great damage" but it'll be for effective team play, or pulling off an audacious move, or calling the right target at the right time. Sometimes I'll compliment post battle when I see someone has had an amazing game. I find a lot of my compliments go to the enemy team though, when someone is playing out of their skin. You've got to give credit where it's due, and I hope I learn something from them in the process.
EmilyFara Players 1,091 posts 2,423 battles Report post #19 Posted January 7, 2017 I tend to not really compliment my allies unless they really went above and beyond to assist me. I tend to do that to them. However when it comes to my enemies I keep a close eye on them. And when I am consistently blocked or shut down by one or I get an awesome fight with one I will give them +1 karma and a gg to him in all chat. They were effective in countering me. And I enjoy that challenge. I won't pm though. But I will never ignore a pm either. Have a nice day. -Send from the South China Sea

Zathras_Grimm Players 1,438 posts Report post #21 Posted January 7, 2017 Will karma vote if in general a good game is had by a player. Will send a message if someone does something really good (last thing was a CV player that double torped a Belfast as soon as he did the usual hide behind island and used radar next to cap. It was beautiful as it appears to be something Belfasts are getting used to doing, so can be an easy kill). I usually get thank you messages from ships I may have dropped back a little to smoke and hide.

I will often congratulate the red team for a good victory or say thanks/well played to a friendly if they have performed well. I much prefer to be nice to people rather than nasty, it just makes the world a better place in general. Life's too short to be pissed off all the time. Fairly comfortable with the fact I wont win every game (winning more than I lose is fine), and I feel it is possible to have a good game when on the losing side. Apologies for the geeky reference, but as the Klingons would say "die well". Had plenty of losses where this philosophy has lead to entertaining last stands.
