But first I gotta come back from my family visit anyway, so I got some more time to think about my finances It is slightly "meh" but not completely rubbish. Last battle I did in mine I managed 79k dmg and I don't think that's awful for a T4. Ofc the avg dmg is plenty lower but still, it has potential and the laser guns are fun . mtm78 Alpha Tester 19,378 posts 6,105 battles Report post #8 Posted January 1, 2017 Yuubari has the same effective dpm for people who can aim as Kuma, since the 40% accuracy module offsets the less amount of guns. But, back in her prime she was the ultimate bane of CV's, even flying a squad near her would mean they dropped like flies ( and that was BEFORE they gave her defensive AAA to offset the nerfs to her raw AAA power ). Now it's still the best escort for an Imperator
Hoola_ ∞ Beta Tester 56 posts 4,616 battles Report post #9 Posted January 1, 2017 I love the Sims to bits and the Yuubari is at least pretty... Although I had a 113k damage game in the Yuubari the other day so it certainly isn't unusable.
tenacious_torps ∞ Players 1,373 posts Report post #10 Posted January 1, 2017 The Yubari is probably useful as a trainer. Not primarily as a captain trainer, but as a player trainer. You need accurate guns to learn how to aim properly, imho, and I don't think there's another ship at those tiers even close to her dispersion, if I recall mined data correctly. While I still think it's questionable to throw real money at WG right now - smart money is probably on waiting to see how big of a screw-up the new skills will really turn out - she's comparatively cheap and might be a good buy for new players or those who feel like they lack in the aiming department, especially if they don't plan to go into soviet cruisers and their railguns, which I'd recommend otherwise. She also goes together well with the Ishizuchi and her lack of AA, so if you've got somebody to division with who enjoys that ship that's one fine IJN division right there. Oth both ships were actually on the loosing side of the MM overhaul a while ago, since one of their selling points before that was preferential MM that's now extended to the whole tier, on the plus side however you'll hardly get accused of seal-clubbing, since neither of the two is considered OP in any way or form. (Which is an amusing way to conceal you're running your Yamato and Zao captains... :p)
[2DQT] RUSSIANBlAS Players 8,241 posts Report post #11 Posted January 1, 2017 From a strictly gaming point of view the Yubari looks like a ship... Although I do have a Katori with similar guns but far less speed... Sims is excellent however.
[SCRUB] aboomination Players 5,763 posts 16,940 battles Report post #12 Posted January 1, 2017 (edited) Sims is excellent however. But why pick her over Blyska? Because of defensive fire? Maybe. With the captain xp changes captain training aspects will be far less important. Hmm Edited January 1, 2017 by aboomination
[2DQT] RUSSIANBlAS Players 8,241 posts Report post #13 Posted January 1, 2017 But why pick her over Blyska? Because of defensive fire? Maybe. With the captain xp changes captain training aspects will be far less important. Hmm They fill slightly different purposes. Yes the captain training thing is less important with the upcoming changes as you can just abuse/bash your ahead against the hulls of your favourite ship again and again with progression now Sims is a close range brawler like all USN DD, she is small and incredibly agile. The guns basically turn instantaneously and you can use all the rudder you want literally without throwing them off. Blys probably functions better slightly further back than the Sims, she's a bigger ship with a heavier punch but can eat torps fairly easily due to her size and slower rudder. A bit like Kiev but with better torps, HP and concealment. Both have their place imo.
mtm78 Alpha Tester 19,378 posts 6,105 battles Report post #14 Posted January 1, 2017 Sims is the best CQC, it's also almost impossible to catch with a CV even without defensive fire. Blys is the ultimate fire starter and works way better fighting DD's from second line or fighting bigger ships. Blys is the ultimate stealth fire fire starter, the bane of the lone wolf 'Rambo' BabyBoat captain. And Yuubari is the best escort ship for any tier 4 BB, it's not without it's uses. And as I said earlier if you can aim well your effective dpm is not less then any of the normal tier 4 cruisers, coupled with the fact that you can put your Zao captain in her with DE so you can burn all the things. With the captain xp changes captain training aspects will be far less important. Hmm They are completely different animals, depends on your playstyle. Blyska is effectively a russian DD. Long range firestarter who is blessed with infisifiring (for god knows how long). Excellent for lone wolves. Sims is one of the best knife fighters and point capturer with excellent close range torp salvos and longer smoke for you and your whole team. True teamplayer. Also it has something like 99 points out of 100 for maneuverability, its crazy agile.
