RockyRoller Players 31 posts 1,201 battles Report post #1 Posted December 30, 2016 I was reading wiki and it said the Belfast carried "two catapult-launched Supermarine Walrus" and "six Mk IV 21-inch torpedo tubes in two triple mounts". These are both missing on the Premium Belfast which seems odd as spotters and torpedos seem part of the regular items for other carriers. Why were they not added? It should also get speed boost, as there's no reason the crew couldn't just strap torpedoes to the side of the ship and turn them on.

[COOOP] Shirakami_Kon Players 2,624 posts 12,776 battles Report post #12 Posted December 30, 2016 You're worried about a spotter plane? Why would you want that? I personally hate them, I can't get used to the change of the angle of the camera. IMO opinion even for low tier BBs it's a waste of a slot, I wish they could have that lone fighter, that only plane is better than the spotter plane. I would understand if it was a fighter (maybe, because it's a Belfast, not a BB in this case), but...

EdiJo Players 1,419 posts 11,712 battles Report post #14 Posted December 30, 2016 Yeah. And Belfast had great state-of-the-art British radar, not some poor US copy or Soviet fantasy! So why exactly is it turning off (overheating??) after those few seconds?

RockyRoller Players 31 posts 1,201 battles Report post #18 Posted December 30, 2016 the torps are only for the mission/task that require them, the tier is the same I have to someday read/watch some guides regarding the ships so I can't say if Belfast is OP or not. It gets seen, it gets sunk, other ships do a F more damage than I seem to be able to do and torps appear far too close for me to react much.

I would understand if it was a fighter (maybe, because it's a Belfast, not a BB in this case), but... yes, my brother who was in the Royal Navy (HMS Phoebe) said they were only to see the Russians and open fire before they saw them and return fire, it would win engagements. He also once said radar was wide and general, but you had to focus in for a shot and then you'd get the other ship using your radar to sink you. but in this game radar and planes are a mini rather than critical advantage. I wish there were subs

I wish there were subs I'm not questioning the importance of the planes in RL, not that Belfast had none of them either. But just from a in-game point of view, Belfast it's quite fine as it is right now, and the in-game spotter planes could be better. I wouldn't have any problems with them in the game if they increase the range for a short time as they do, but without changing the usual angles of the camera for aiming. But I guess then we would have more BBs camping, so I guess it's fine as it is anyways. I still see Scharnhorst using them to shoot over 22 km with those shells and dispersion. So why exactly is it turning off (overheating??) after those few seconds? Because the boffins in charge of the Radar Set have turned it up to the mega max X-ray setting so that it can see through islands. If they turn it up any higher it'll become a death ray with a 2 second duration and a 2 minute cool-down.
Drunken_Jedi Players 849 posts 2,954 battles Report post #25 Posted December 30, 2016 Initially I thought "someone thinks the Belfast doesn't have enough toys?" which is almost as funny as asking for the Scharnhorst to be buffed. However, no you're asking on historical basis which is fine and dandy. Sadly we have the post war refit version of Belfast hence no torpedoes or spotter aircraft. If she had access to those however she'd be the most brokenly overpowered ship in the game.
