Detonation flag...I was wrong

Was in my kiev.....had a great game going, was at 90k dmg and plenty of dmg to go......get into a fight with a mahan....wreck him.....last shot he fires blows me up from 9k hp........Weird thing is that I have the detonation flag on and nothing else. I told someone he was in idiot on the forums earlier because he said you can still blow up even with the flag. 

I was wrong and I am sorry.

Were you stacked with fire buff flags? 

 
Surely a Detonation Flag alone should reduce the chance to 0%!?

+50% exp

+300 free exp

+dragon flag

+50% commander flag

Ocean soul camo

none of which mess with detonation

If this is the case, hope have demo so you can report a bug.

Someone should also explain how is detonation mechanic actually working.

 

If I mount detonation flag (Juliet Charlie) + fire flag (India X Ray) that increases the enemy detonation chance (not yours).

Do they stack up? Is order of mounting relevant?

Is it: X + 5% - 100% = 0% or X -100% + 5% = 5% .... or what?

Juliet Charlie (Detonation)

"Juliet Charlie" has you 100% covered when it comes to magazine detonations. If only insurance companies were so effective...

India X-Ray (Arsonist)

Increases the chances of setting an enemy ship on fire - the enemy has a greater chance of detonating your magazine.

Offcially devs said that even you have detonation flag there is STILL a chance to explode.

But it is so close to zero that it doesn't count.

Had the same with Montana a few days ago. I use this flag on all my T10 ships after my Yamato got detonated by a stray torp that slipped through some islands. Recently, my Montana got detonated by a Fletcher torp to the side. In both cases the torpedoes hit the hull close to turret X.

So yeah, it does happen apparently.

Nope, you can detonate if you have that flag only, but chance is very low.

Under the turrets is a well known BB detonation hot spot. I've even steered into a torp wall and made it happen :teethhappy:

Is it: X + 5% - 100% = 0% or X -100% + 5% = 5% .... or what?

I think, but that is only my guess, it is X - [X*(1.0-0.05)] = X - 0.95*X = 0.05'X

 

So Detonation Flag + Fire Flag = 95% reduced chance

by definition a 100% reduced chance is....im thinking kind of 100% which is total reduction? Unless my stronk Russian math is off.

Even if the 100% is only applied to the base chance of detonation, you don't use anything else that increases the chance. Maybe there is a hidden variable for each ship with "extra" chance for detonation? DD's seem to detonate way more often anyway.

Makes me wonder what other flags are "working as intended", especially when I have both flags increasing fire chance mounted on Mogami and I get one fire after 50 hits. :sceptic:

My knowledge of this subject is that the flag reduces your detonation chance to something like 0.1% or 0.01%.

 

In other words, so small it's negligible.

 

I have a feeling that this might have something to do with the risk of negative numbers.

 

A while ago, when playing eve online, someone figured out that you can debuff a stat so hard that it turns it into a negative number. This had the effect of creating a 100% chance / stat. The code just didn't know how to deal with it. This allowed ships to fire their weapons that would normally have only 10km of range out to 249km (249km range was a hard stop on range - if this hard stop wasn't there it could of potentially been further). They also received perfect accuracy from this debuff too which meant they dealt perfect damage at impossible ranges. All because the debuffs caused negative numbers.

 

Leaving the detonation chance at 0.01% might be a safety measure in preventing an unwanted 100% chance being generated by mistake.

This is known for long long time ago, you still have very small chance of detonation with this flag . DEVS know nothing :p

 

Look at the fire chance, this is not the chance you get fires, this is part of larger equation that takes some contant values, other modifiers and calculates final fire chance for each shell that is more or less half of the shell fire chance.

 

My guess is that the "detonation" chance is some constant added to an each ship and part of bigger eqwuation , for example kiev has it 0.23 and it ends after calculations with 1% detonation chance , flag "100%" increase that constant value to 0.46 and final calculations are 0.1% detonation chance . Or something like that

 

"Description is wrong misleading and inaccurate" - remember this in every game made by Wargaming that is one of the golden rules

Hello,

 

Do you by chance have a replay of the battle, or at least screenshot? If you did not sport any flag messing with the detonation and still got detonated, it may be some weird stuff :)

 

On the other hand the flags that increase your detonation chance do mess with the 100% coverage. 

 

So in any case, if you have a recording of Detonation despite all precautions taken, bring it on, please :)

I remember reading in one of the RU Q&As that due to technical reasons the anti-detonation signal isn't -100% but -99.99999% or something.

 

This was quite a while ago so I may be misremembering or it might have changed.

flag probably gives you 99.99% chance of reduction of detonation, but they rounded it up to 100% :trollface:
