Hey Guys!

We have an update for you about the Christmas Convoy situation:

“We considered this experimental double-campaign approach used in other regions and saw flaws in it. The double-campaign system does not cater to our audience in the usual manner we prepare offers. It was experimental and as we were not convinced it would work with benefit for the general audience, we decided to opt out of this part of the End of Year activities.

We knew that the Graf Spee itself would be a really important element to our players. That is why keeping this part of the event was an obvious choice. We also knew that many players would want to get their hands on special vanity items. Problems started here. The structure of the campaign combined with its time limitation did not, in our opinion, provided anyone except top payers, the option to get the items without major time commitment. This is not something we wanted nor felt right to ask of our players in the holiday period, when a big part of our loyal player base does not want to struggle between the game and family needs.

Seeing that some people would however like to get their hands on limited-edition content without the sacrifice of time spent with friends and family, we added all the camouflages for individual purchase, disconnected from bundles. This allowed anyone to cherry-pick the one or two items they are interested in fairly cheaply, without investing a huge amount of time for the campaigns or buying the Graf Spee which they may potentially not be interested in buying in the first place.

We understand that this choice has raised concerned through the community and are deeply saddened that this overshadowed so many of the other activities hosted for your entertainment during the Christmas / End of Year period.

We are currently looking into various options regarding the Christmas Convoy campaign, but even if we decide to take action in the following days, neither of them will have an immediate effect. Any event planning on this scale requires a meticulous analysis of the current situation. We learn from community feedback, as well as our mistakes, and we hope to bring you great events in the future and that we’ll manage to make you enjoy the End of Year activities regardless of this issue. The future events will be the core of our concern and that is what we are most working towards right now.”

Makes sense, and obviously caring for the vast majority of players rather than a shouty 50 who want extra free stuff on top of their free stuff.

How would it have been a loss for said vast majority if the "shouty 50" had gotten exactly what all other regions got?

Free port slots, free ships and eventually some prem camos aren't exactly nothing you know.

What WG EU needs to take away from this debacle is that forcing everyone left is just as wrong as forcing everyone right. If you don't believe your players can do something in a given time, you give them more time or give them an additional way to do it. Ripping the content out is the worst possible choice you could have made. And did.

A line like 'but even if we decide to take action' does not inspire confidence that you'll actually do anything. Pick your words carefully, because it also means 'it's not likely we'll do anything'.

In any case, thank you for the response. I wasn't expecting one this fast. Keep that up. :)

Absolute, total LIES. What a disgraceful statement which will fan the flames further. WG EU you are an evil, lying company. Disgusting.

What? No, it does not make any sense!

The event was on all regions, and only EU ducked it up by removing content and put the camos up for lots of coin.

Fairly cheap? Well, maybe from WGs point of view, but i consider 3k Dubloons for Tirpitz, 2k for AGS and 1k for the TVI to not be fairly cheap.

If the dealine for completion was really WG EUs concern, they could have give us the option to either play for them or buy them.

So no, it does not make sense.

And now thats again the pre-made marketing fecal matter i was mentioning earlier

Sorry - wont eat that.

And one premium camo isnt "fairly" cheaply at 10+ Bucks ... the other free camos and ships not calculated. So stop talking smack. Especially if the only constant is the crap we get EVERY GOODAMN TIME - and discrimanting disapointment

Sorry ... of 3 Xmas presents for friends a few days earlier that i buyed will be the last investment that WG EU will ever get from me.

Sayonara and see a few of you in MWO ;)

Demographics, tax laws and so on are responsible for different prices on the same products in WoWs. They are not necessary responsible for different content.

No, but if I buy a happy meal at a "restaurant" - and I'm very ok with different prices because of demographics and so on - I expect them to put actually the same things in a happy meal than elsewhere and not give me a tablet and an empty box.

Not necessarily, but quite possibly. "Free" vs "we charge for this" is a price difference, even if it seems different.

But the main food items in the happy meal are the same. Some such WG happy meals are given out for free (or for mission completions, from a revenue perspective, 'free' but EU happy meals have a price tag attached.

Menus on restaurants, even within the same chain will vary. It is very common for a regional favorite to be on the menu in one place but not all. Conversely there may be reasons for not offering a product in another region. Many shops have 'in store specials' based on store manager level promotion decisions. Prizes on McDonald's Monopoly contests are different in EU than in North America. The menus vary by country (and sometimes within a country) too.

There are many counter-examples to your argument.

You guys haven't learnt anything from this mess, it's the same old argument about "too difficult to complete so we took away free content and offered to you again, this time for money for your convinience"

Like Who the hell told you to post this, WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU SIMPLY REFUSE TO POST THIS? Unless you really believe this makes any sense.

Thanks for the update (as in: "thanks for giving us an update"). The contents of them are... well: still no excuses, still somewhat defending what was decided.

Did we ever have double campaigns running? I can't recall them, so how can you decide it won't work for the EU community, if it hasn't been tried.

True that, it being a mid-tier ship is beyond what many would have anticipated (with the leaks of the Oleg, that was the prime suspect of being a gift ship, like the Emden was last year), having an actually viable ship for missions is a VERY nice gesture, no-one will deny that.

However, the mission (as could be seen on the NA) would be "challenging" at best when you were allocated the 9-day window the NA were allowed for any player who earned it via the first campaign. If you bought it, there were tons of time to complete it, even with being AFK for the holidays. That argument is void. It would also create an incentive to buy the ship (and thus generate profit for WG).

Still doesn't explain the culling of 5 port-slots (and the chance to give players a head-start on several highly-regarded techtree branches without having to suffer through low-tier ships & matches) and that the exuberant price of said camouflages. It's so expensive you put it even further out of reach than by having it behind a challenge. Again: you didn't give the players a choice, you made one for them. 3000D for the Tirpitz camo is NOT cheap, it's more than 25% of the price of that ship. That's pretty significant.

We understand that this choice has raised concerned through the community and are deeply saddened that this overshadowed so many of the other activities hosted for your entertainment during the Christmas / End of Year period.

You knew for over a year that non-uniform content across servers were a sore tooth for many, thus this had to be foreseen that it would happen. It's entirely your fault for neglecting that, and anticipating that "it wouldn't be that bad", it was plain to see for everyone what would happen.

There isn't really much of an alternative besides "implementation of the full Santa Convoy campaign for the EU players, with all its benefits and rewards, with the exact same requirements" (don't pull an ARP-catchup on us, it will backfire even harder than the culling of the Santa Convoy in the first place), anything less than this will absolutely demolish what little credibility WG-EU still has remaining. To be honest, a pretty substantial compensation in addition to the rectification of the Santa Convoy for all players is long overdue, since this is not the first time the EU gets the shorter end of the stick regarding content compared to other regions (ARP challenges (Nachi), Birthdays, Historical events, repeatable weekly missions for captain XP the NA gets almost every week,...). And don't hide it behind a challenge, just make it a code you can redeem.

Any event planning on this scale requires a meticulous analysis of the current situation.            And more BSitting the people! The situation is as clear as it can get! Even CCs, not only from europe but from US too made videos about this "incident".

We learn from community feedback, as well as our mistakes,      NO YOU DO NOT. Obviously nothing has been learned by WG EU, you only getting better to fook things up more and more over the times.

Comical Ali would be ashamed by you.

The thing to have done would be provide both. Include the missions 'as is' from other regions and if you feel that the purchase item is a valid addition, include that as well.

The whole problem has been the removal of options and the perceived 'taking things away' from people.

US-Streamer talking about the WG EU fookup in clear words:

It`s impressive, considering how serious problems they have in USA atm. Every morning they have to choose one of 71 (or how much it was?) genders for today, then harass random people on the street "in the name of tolerance" and then they still have problem if there is enough Play-Doh and Legos for everyone in safe space on univercity.

I know this has been said million times but still;

How hard it is to have an equal treatment for all servers?

But as we see again, WG EU never ceases to amaze us on topic "How to f*ck up even the most simplest things" ^^

Absolutley brilliant, the "careful planning" was soo meticulous that it left parts of the campaign in the code, but naturally it is impossible to implement it again....

Why are you lying so much?

Just tell us the facts and not this nonsense, and do not dare to just leave the thread without answering our questions in a proper way if you want to be able to look us straight into our eyes:

1. WHO decided this?

2. WHY is the EU server treated worse all the time?

3. WHAT compensation will we get?

 We learn from community feedback

This is not true! :sceptic:

It would be ture if this was the first case but treating EU differently compared to all other servers.

We gave you enough feedback in November about Arpeggio event when every other server had a relaxing nice missions to collect them just by gathering XP except EU, we got hardcore missions with ridiculous requirements compared to others. There are still a lot of people who are desperately try to finish killing RU ships for Nachi mission but the chance to complete is very low.

Did WG EU learn from this?

No because after a month the same happened with christmas convoy:facepalm:

And these are just the recent cases, many things happened before.

(Let's not even mention the FV201 on WoT, where every server had a chance to grind it in a marathon except EU, we got it in a bundle)

I'm sorry but this is Your fault that such a sitation have a place. If You did like rest of the world no one would said anything.

Peoples from different regions got also families, business and free time.

Every one of us decides how to spend it's free time and such arguments should not have a place.

If You say that whole campagin will take too much time.. do not go on shortcuts..

You could release full content like rest of the world did and place aditional information..

"We know that time is very valuable so if anyone will not be able to complete tasks, no worries You can just get those items.."

and place a list of stuff with can be bought for dublons / premium shop!

This is so simple..

You should take a look how WG NA is handling the stuff.. meaby this is right way?
