There's not a single historical example of subs playing any role during a fleet engagement.

 

Subs served as scouts and pickets and sometimes ambushed stragglers out of battle.

Right after Kitakami will be available for everyone.

 

no , if you look some notes, wg told : if kita will be for only for exp players , not for potatos with few games and low tiers only

Sounds interesting but it would be like a dd but then underwater how could they impement it in game? Destroyers are the only one who could find and chase them if my nautica knowledge is correct. Could there be only one like a CV then would be a long que or a 1 - 3 submarines and then they can change the outcome of the game by sneeking behind the enemy lines, battleships not able to help their team with it tier 8 submarines in ranked etc.

First, WW2 subs were not DD under water but awefully slow DD under water (8-16kn).

Second, destroyers and cruisers were both rather capable to hunt down subs. Especially with sonar and spotter planes.

AFAIK subs in the game era were mainly lone wolf (packs) hunting down transport convoys and sniping unaware warships and didn't play a huge role in actual sea battles. A spotted sub was a dead sub. They only had to wait until it had to surface. So I get it why they are not keen to implement that class in this game. And indeed the DD's have more or less the role of subs ingame.

I imagine Sub's gameplay quite boring

As mentioned before they are awfully slow. 

Surface speed: ca 14 knots

Underwater speed: ca 6 knots

And you only have 5 (+-1) single fire torpedo tubes with veeery long reload (10mins was considered fast back them) and a 10,5cm gun for the early war subs.

Sounds like the perfect ship for sniping, teamkilling potatoes

IJN I-201-class would probably the end of the line (in terms of speed) and would have 16kn surfaced, and 19kn submerged speed... with 4 Type95 torps and 2x 25mm AA guns.

You already have= IJN DDs, they play the role that would play Subs, hidden attack and scout.

I really dont know if i want sub in game , i have no idea how it should works , the main anti sub weapon during WW II was depth charges , no idea how it supose to work in game , let me quote :

"The effective use of depth charges required the combined resources and skills of many individuals during an attack. Sonar information, helmsmen, depth charge crews and the movement of other ships had to be carefully coordinated in order to deliver a successful depth charge attack"

1.So should submarines take places in matchmaking from dd pool ? lets say you can have 5 dd max per team , so you can have max 3 dd and 2 sub for example , because if not , with lets say 4 sub and 4 dd per team you will have some weird game , everywhere torps , everyone sneaking etc .

2. Submarines have same purpose as destroyers . (at least in game)

3.So bb will by 100 % useless vs sub ? don't think so

4.  They should  have two stances , submerged and surfaced ? 

5. How even detection will work when they are submerged ? Only hyrdo ? don't think so

For now i cant really say i imagine how submarines can work in this game .

I expect we may see subs with the new scenario modes planned as PvE in the near future, probably as enemies and maybe playable. 

While it isn't too terribly difficult to have subs in a game like this, it is hard to balance them for PvP and in any case, WoWS is a little too far gone towards ships to make it feasible for PvP under current mechanics.

As soon as convoy escort missions are implemented. 

 

Together with depth charges, hedgehog, sonar, spotting planes with depth charges and a 'call up your friendly Sunderland/B24 to bomb the crap out of subs' consumable :trollface:

Well, an other problem are the islands. How close to islands are subs allowed to go underwater? (How deep is the sea) would it also affect ships? (DDs can get closer to islands than BBs)
