[DREAD] 1MajorKoenig Players 13,110 posts 7,885 battles Report post #276 Posted May 1, 2017 Don't know about this ship - based on the old A-hull of the Amagi. I mean Mutsu is paper armour alright but with those guns at tier VI I can take it. However why should I buy this ship when I already have Nagato with the same guns and better armour... no thank you. Well... Mutsu is a mid 1920 Nagato dreadnought and Ashitaka will be a mid 1920 Battlecruiser. While Nagato in game is the late WW2 refit. So these are different ships at the end of the day - why would you buy them? For the same reason you have probably more than one ship in port already.... For me it is the era - I love dreadnoughts
SmartassNoob Players 723 posts 5,774 battles Report post #277 Posted May 1, 2017 (edited) I wonder if Ashitaka will also get some of the famous BB fixed torpedo launchers ( http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/78679-bb-fixed-torpedo-launchers/ )? EDIT: Wait a minute! What's an "Ashitaka"? You guys seem so sure that that's the name of some Amagi class battlecruiser ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amagi-class_battlecruiser ), but according to wikipedia: "Akagi was the first ship of the class to be laid down; construction began on 6 December 1920 at the naval yard in Kure. Amagi followed ten days later at the Yokosuka naval yard. The projected completion dates for the first pair of ships were December and November 1923, respectively. Atago was laid down in Kobe at the Kawasaki shipyard on 22 November 1921, and was projected to be finished in December 1924. Takao, the fourth and final ship of the class, was laid down at the Mitsubishi shipyard in Nagasaki on 19 December 1921, and was also projected to be completed in December 1924." So where's the "Ashitaka" from? Is this another example of info from Stalin's secret vault that only wargaming has peeked into? [DREAD] 1MajorKoenig Players 13,110 posts 7,885 battles Report post #278 Posted May 1, 2017 Ashitaka was the initial name of either Atago or Takao - forgot which one
SmartassNoob Players 723 posts 5,774 battles Report post #279 Posted May 1, 2017 Must be Takao then. It's the only one with a name that doesn't begin with A.
