Well, trying to get my "first blood" contract mission in my akatsuki. I drove an enemy hatsuharu into a smokescreen and fired torps at it. when these missed I went for the ram

what happened next was....

6ArEoYv.png

You see that "first blood" and "devastating strike?"

yeah, those were on me. and as you can see I got really cross.

but that's not important, right? accidental teamkilling happens all the time doesnt it.

so what I want to know is what do you all think of his justification, because what he said that he "said care"

that's literally what he said

Blankedname: Care

Txtspeak(thoughts): The hell does that mean?

aaand then I got 2 torps up the [edited].

so what do you guys think on this. is he an idiot or is it my fault?

You should make your minimap bigger.

Yeah, like 3x bigger at least.

Well it is a weekend so i tend to forgive most people for launching careless torpedoes. Not that it doesnt happen during the week but much rarer and they usually alert you in chat. Maybe if we have General voice chat :teethhappy:

Before you post:

You should have a cup of tea/coffee, browse the forum to see if any topics match your current annoyance levels.

If none exist, have a biscuit/cookie and enjoy.

Now your nerdrage is subsiding, repeat to yourself "this is only one game. The next may be epic", stay calm and smile.

On one hand, sure I agree with you 100%.

But it's also something which happens from time to time. I've had people on my team torp me point blank range then gotten angry at me for "making them pink". Not really worth making topics about.

Save it for when some dipsh** makes a topic raging at "teammates sailing into my torpedoes". Feel free to laugh and point.

I like big bouncy Minimaps indeed.

I had a moment last week where I emptied my Mutsuki's torps at a stationary enemy in smoke, right at the limit of their range. It was at the south-east end of a medium size island, & the only friendly near me was a Hatsuharu on the southwest side, heading south.

Then, I notice that the friendly Hatsuharu has turned hard to port & come roaring around the end of the island, & (because my torps are slow but have decent range) thus putting himself between my torps & the enemy. I shouted "HATSU, TORPS STARBOARD!!!" (maybe with less exclamation marks) & he managed to avoid them. I followed up with "sorry mate :(", & he replied:

"NVM, DD life, right?"

The torps killed the enemy DD, & me & the Hatsu cleaned up the rest of the enemy team (with a little help from our cowering BBs, who were eventually forced to engage after all our cruisers died trying to help us DDs, just out of the battleship's support range) & capped out a win.

He repeatedly thanked the entire team in chat & sent me a nice message at the end of the game.

I shared this just to illustrate that mistakes do happen (I checked the mini-map, but I did not register his course or rather, that he might change course so drastically) but that with a bit of give-&-take players can (with luck!) resolve such issues & more importantly, that incidents of this nature need not ruin the game.

I am also trying to be more like that Hatsu player, something which—displaying a bit of kindness, patience & humility—I have to admit I've probably failed at doing lately.

Take care out there, & try to take care of your team.

PS: This emotional tenor of this post might've been affected by having just helped my partner put up our Christmas tree. Apologies to any manlier-than-thou types who might take offence.

PPS: I acknowledge that the dude in the OP's post tried rather less hard than I to stop txtspeak's death, but y'know. English might not be his first language.

Does his native lingo lack the word torpedo though? I doubt it, seems to be pretty international. Or does it prevent him from pining out the torps on the minimap? Of course, with a map that small txtspeal might not have noticed, but at least he'd have tried.

I once torped a friendly BB, when after launch I realized my error I tried to warn him with AMAGI WATCH OUT TORPS or something like that. He didn't respond and ate some torps. I saw we had maybe three Amagi's (or whatever BB it was), so maybe that was the reason why he didn't react. If something like that happens I always say sorry, and most of the times even after collision damage.

But only "care" as a warning? No, that would make me only confused, if anything.

craphappens. Warning people is difficult, since writing takes time, you need to do so quickly and that time is taken away from steering your ship. I've lost several good torping spots due to this difficulty since I didn't have enough time to tell the teammate how to avoid my torps and still be in any position to launch them. Typically these are situations where I'm planning to launch torps ahead of a friendly BBs bow, but they are pointlessly charging at full speed even when they should slow down and hold position instead. You can't really trust such BB to do the smart thing and slow down in order to allow you to torp, thus missing the spot.

You know some people can be quite funny on the forum, some can be very rude.  I can't see why people get upset over this as the correct blanking was done and it happens on a regular basis.

How about either don't bother commenting or put something constructive.  Some of the rubbish that gets talked about on here and this was in no way like any of that.  As for grammar I thought this was a forum not English literature and btw many users of the forum have English as a second language.

So as a fellow player of wows I sympathise, occasionally I torp in the heat of the moment and type a warning very quickly but often isn't read so you take the abuse/karma hit which I guess is fair.  I did message someone the other day as I saw in the post match report I had hit him with a torp.  I think all you can so is apologise and not try to excuse it whether you were right or not.
