Consumable keys (T) not reacting when pressed

This is probably the 10th time in the past week that I died because the consumable key (T - smoke) is not reacting in time.

Yes it was green (consumable not on cool down), but when I press it, the consumable icon just blinks. I had to press it 4 times !!!! (it blinked every time) before the smoke deployed, allowing enemy to delete me.

 

Is this a known issue? I have had it in the past, but recently it is way more frequent.

I don't know for sure, but smoke (and only smoke) seems to have an additional delay. I also need to wait for 1-2 additional seconds after the timer finished, to deploy smoke again.

This bug has been around for a LOOOOOONG time now. Smoke is only actually available a few seconds after it claims to be available.

I know it is. But still it is frustrating. Lets say that in 10% of the times you use smoke, you have to use it right after the consumable loads (common for us dds where you need to charge the enemy into the torpedo range). And you forget (because you trust the indicator). And it fcks you. it really does.

A bug thats been around for so looooong cant just become a feature. They need to fix it, and we need to press them. Imagine if BBs had a delay with the heal consumable. The forum would burst and devs would make a -2 sec delay the next patch (allowing them to heal 2 secs before consumable loads). Im tellin you. I made a post in bug report section. I advice you do the same.

Yes, this is annoying that you have to wait another 2 seconds after the counter has reached zero.

 

I wonder if this is related to the bug they are fixing that allows you to receive additional damage after hitting the repair consumable.

I am almost sure that when you press it (and it only blinks) the smoke will not deploy at all. It is not the deployment delay bug. It is a bug that somehow "disables" the key for several seconds. Meaning if I wouldnt press the key again - the smoke would have not deploy at all.

Shouldn't be the way but it's probably because of lag and poor UI.

 

I always double tap commands just to be sure.

 

That is exactly it the UI is bad and unresponsive with a long delay

It isn't the only key that doesn't react. In fact I watched a you-tube clip where some well known peeps talk about how bad the unresponsive buttons are in this game. They said WoW is a game you can't rely on when it comes to trusting your key input which makes it quite bad and I agree with them. The key input which you rely on very much at critical times really lets you down in this game and it's been getting worse over time since CBT.

Spamming from smoke with a DD division mate. Mine is about to run out, while his is just ready. He says he resmoked, but we're actually sitting there in the open like dumbfucks. Gotta love it! :)

That is a nice teamwork, but there are many times when you are either solo, or you get focused down without support that is in the position to help you.

And DD hp pool (specially gunboat knife-fighters) does not allow you to make many mistakes.

 

Next you try to exploit terrain and wait for the smoke to come up.

Many times it comes down to seconds whether you live or you die ... when you have to abandon cover and smoke is used as a cover extension...

If the lag kills you that there is something wrong here -  I dont know if that is acceptable. 

 

Perhaps someone (looking at BB players  )will say: "Oh, its perfectly realistic that smoke need few seconds to deploy" ... well that delay comes only after the first one as a bonus sort of + the speed factor.

 

A question (if anyone can confirm). 

Is this a DD thing, or is it present with cruisers too?

It happens to english cruisers as well.

Can't say if it happens to the Iwaki or Kutuzov, but I'm guessing it does.

I can confirm that it was happening to me a lot in a Tashkent(since it relies on smoke its more visible), plus the rudder sometimes stops responding to the A&D keys until you release and press again :angry:

Don't know if these bugs are related, but there's definitely a bug with the rudder not responding sometimes until you set it back to 'neutral' yes.

So its bug or feature or delay ? I died few times because of this and its really frustrating every time when I have to use smoke right after his cooldown. Some "tryhard" DD actions depends on good timing while you was accidently spotted by unexpected ship and this "feature" is ruining the game. Also there is additional time until smoke being active so if you lost 2-4 seconds by this delay you are prolly going to eat few shells.

I noticed this too and its not the normal delay. It seems to me when the ships is turning (holding the A or D) and you try to use smoke, it does not react. Another thing I noticed is when you spam the T key it does not pop, but only blinks like op said...but when you press it once the smoke starts.

 

Thats my observation at least.
