I had the -100% detonation chance flag but I detonated anyway

this is why we have this particularly fun and engaging game mechanic

Two flags increase chance of getting ammorekt, I guess -100% +5% + 5% and you still end up with 10% chance of detonation.

That might have been it...

although I swear there was something from Interesting information from RU thread that said that the -100% flag was absolute

I remember it differently. The detonation chances are additive. So if you add 10 % to your 100 % base chance you'll end up with 110 %. Subtracting 100 % still leaves a rest chance of 10 %.

It was the exact opposite, they confirmed it was NOT absolute which you just proved :coin:

Is detonation something we really need in this game?

 

Sure, it happened historically. But I have always been a proponent of fun gameplay rather than historical resemblance.

 

This luck based game mechanic brings nothing to the table. The player that was detonated has a very negative experience, and the player that won got robbed of a fair and hard earned victory.

 

That happens especially in ranked when you win due to an enemy detonating, your win feels cheap, due to luck.

 

This mechanic needs to be removed or toned down. Maybe make it count as a citadel hit and destroy the turret to which the ammo belongs, maybe start a fire, but a sudden death is not fun.

IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN!

I just got detonated in my scharnhorst (By a friendly emerald no f*cking thank you) And I DEFINATELY only had the -100% flag (and secondary stuff but whatever)

I'm calling some BS on this

I am calling BS as well! Replay or didn't happen!

 

Detonation flag gives -100% regardless what the value was before and there are no higher chances than 100% even if you mix that flag with the Arsonist and Liquidator flags.

Replays always un-enable them selves every patch so I stopped bothering

 

I enabled replays manually... like.. a year ago. I never have to reenable them after patches?

I do use modpacks and most of them have options to set replays on, it's more likely I'm wrong and my replays are not turned on again until I install one of the packs on the new patch... but I don't miss any replays and I do play vanilla the first day or two because modpacks takes time to update. Logic, I can't see it :hiding:

I have enabled it once, long time ago, and it's still rpoccing replays for me with no issues... right now I'm rewatching yesterdays replay and there was quite a few patches before me enabling replays and yesterdays matches......

 

[you did set that file where you enabled it as read-only right?]

I took it to mean replays from previous patches don't work with the current patch so he stopped bothering with recording replays.

Afaik patches will reset this attribute anyway, as sometimes extra settings are added?

The detonation flag decrease that chance. But there is still a chance that you will detonate.* But it is so small that it won't happen - like getting Tirpitz in containers.

 

* official WG statement. I could search for it but it might take me a lot of time.

well tbh dunno, I do remember though that guide on how to enable replay was warning that if you do not set it as rea-only, the next patch will overwrite the file with defaults turning replays off

 

atm I don't even remember which file it is i care about it that much :P

[and replays are still ticking, recently when cleaning them up I've released over a 1GB of disk space :P]

yes, I had the -100% detonation flag, the AA flag and the secondaries flag and thats all

I think you are wrong. It has been officially confirmed (see last post) that the Juliet Charlie Flag has ultimate effect. You could still detonate due to a bug, but this has been fixed months ago.
