[TSSHI] Kazomir Players 1,566 posts Report post #1 Posted December 3, 2016 Amongst the general negativity of people on the forums (pretty much any forums, anywhere) I'd like to create this thread. Its about Campaigns. I wish to say that WG was very kind to include a permament campaign that will inevitably gift you with a tier 6 Premium just for playing (along with other gifts) I really do not understand the people that immediately groaned that they cannot do the missions or that they are too hard. Maybe because they think they cant repeat missions for the pins or something, or maybe because people allways find a way to complain, negative bias, I think it was called. After all, WG could not even have bothered including those missions, right? Nobody would have complained then, maybe next time they won't go through the trouble. So, in order to keep that from happening, i want to say thank you WG, for the Campaigns you so kindly gave us. Reading or not, thank you for visiting. Now flame me for being WG fanboy. voltaicgrunt Players 165 posts 435 battles Report post #4 Posted December 3, 2016 +1 love the campaigns. flags consumables credit free xp and enough dubloons to reset my screwed up mahan captain. Not sure I agree some tasks "dubious". Feel that WG have just created lots of different challenges so that there is something for everyone.
[SPUDS] Unintentional_submarine [SPUDS] Beta Tester 4,052 posts 8,765 battles Report post #5 Posted December 4, 2016 I have had fun with it, and I have felt good about the rewards. So, I can live with a few somewhat bad tasks in the mix, not like I need to always pick those.
SBS Alpha Tester, In AlfaTesters 2,556 posts 1,924 battles Report post #6 Posted December 4, 2016 +1 from me, I like them I like them, and I am not entirely sure if some of them are really bad. Sure some of them might require a bit of a different play style than usefull, but it is not a race to complete the tasks. Nothing stops you from just playing normally and then suddenly have them finish at one point or another as you play. The rewards are also nice.
[BONI] MoveZig Players 1,622 posts 20,823 battles Report post #7 Posted December 4, 2016 Well it's rewards for doing things you'd do anyway in random battles, so can't complain. It's just that WG have a strange idea of what a ''mission'' and a ''campaign'' are. In any other game, those terms would mean a separate game mode with objectives, here it's just tasks within random matches.

[PANEU] kfa Beta Tester 1,975 posts 13,875 battles Report post #12 Posted December 4, 2016 SSSh shut up! You are not allowed to compliment them otherwise they will change the system! You guys like the container system? It would be a shame if somebody nerfed the supercontainer chance to 0%, right? Oh you find this premium extremely strong? Its a pity! We just removed it from the shop! You like testing out the new ship lines on the test server before the patch hits? Here is the PTS for you without them!

[GMT] Phlogistoned Players 779 posts Report post #14 Posted December 4, 2016 +1 Very nice change from the weekly missions. Especially appreciated that they run forever and you can redo the same mission for pins (but 0 rewards, naturally, so it isn't exploitable for reward farming). This means even casual, or class-limited players can finish them. I do hope we see more of this. Only possible problem I foresee is that they may have raised expectations a bit too high by including a T6 reward ship in one of the premiere campaigns. That is a pretty substantial reward, and I do hope we don't get any whining if/when the next campaign doesn't have it. Other nice rewards would also be containers and maybe 'guaranteed' supercontainers. An idea for extension would be 'individual' campaigns that you enlist and have to fulfill with a single captain, which would then turn into a 'named' captain...? [TSSHI] Kazomir Players 1,566 posts Report post #15 Posted December 4, 2016 And I do hope that the USS Black is in one of those super hard campaigns. Like in wot with the east german T-54. Just because I want my hands on that DD-
[AYM-W] Ian_MacAllan Players 46 posts 3,613 battles Report post #16 Posted December 4, 2016 I really like the campaigns, too. Compared to WoT campaigns, they are much better: you can choose which tasks are active, you can also select multiple active tasks, and you do not need to do them in a fixed order. And if you cannot fulfill some of the tasks (e.g., because you do not play a certain ship class), you can repeat others for getting the required pins. In WoT I was stuck on the first campaign (reward: tier 5 tank) for ages, because I did not play artillery, and for the last task for heavy tanks you really needed a tier 9 or tier 10 tank to complete (or have a really, really good game in a tier 8). Maybe it would be a good idea to change the weekly missions to 1-week mini campaigns with the same mechanics (selecting multiple active tasks)?
[ALONE] Smeggo Modder 2,485 posts 15,344 battles Report post #17 Posted December 4, 2016 Yes, really cool. Just finished the first campaign - nearly all stages could be done easily in a CV, that motivated me for some Saipan-Battles.

Ferry_25 Players 4,392 posts 12,107 battles Report post #20 Posted December 4, 2016 Yes. I like the campaigns as well. Not easy. But there's no time pressure as well. and the rewards are nice IMO. I think this a great addition to the game. I'd like to see more campaigns in the future. F.e. specific shiptype campains. My only strong suggestion would be to be able to switch tasks but keep the progress. Otherwise I'd feel "stuck" in a specific task. And there is a task I still don't understand: "spot 2 DD's as a BB" What is meant by that?? Somehow I got 1/2 now. But I don't really understand what's being asked from me... To put it this way: make it a bit more clear for dumb people like me....
[GMT] Phlogistoned Players 779 posts Report post #21 Posted December 5, 2016 I'd like to see more campaigns in the future. F.e. specific shiptype campains. That would be a downgrade, IMO, as one of the strong points is that they be completed by any ship type, if you're willing to repeat some tasks.
[SICK] Exocet6951 Weekend Tester 5,151 posts 11,809 battles Report post #22 Posted December 5, 2016 How can someone complain about the campaign? I mean, criticizing a mission I understand (Kill a carrier? Snowball's chance in hell in tiers other that 4 and 9-10, WG), but the campaign? It's free stuff, and some incentive to play more than one class [coughs audibly]
[H_FAN] Gnirf Players 3,293 posts 67,377 battles Report post #23 Posted December 5, 2016 (edited) How can someone complain about the campaign? I mean, criticizing a mission I understand (Kill a carrier? Snowball's chance in hell in tiers other that 4 and 9-10, WG), but the campaign? It's free stuff, and some incentive to play more than one class [coughs audibly] Play DD then you might do it, If I remember correctly I did it in Kamikaze R tier 5 But as others have stated it seems you do not need every mission to climb just enough pins. After some problems in the early stages I got informed that I just need enough pins (do no have repeated though) so I am now at lvl 9 in the beginner Campaign- the tier 8 + I do later If I miss some smaller missions I do them later for the rewards I try to take the grinding missions as one of the slots and then two fairly easy. When the grinding missions like 20000 XP are over for the time being I take one that is an achievement or kill a CV or something that is more MM related. I change and have a paper where all remaining missions on lower levels are to see the mest combinations for a given ship so I change a lot. Mostly it is the CV related missions that I leave. Achievements are more difficult. Arsonist, Dreadnought, High Caliber I have several just not when these missions were in the 3 slots......so timing is crucial. Overall a fun addition Edited December 5, 2016 by Gnirf
[-CC-] Robert_Parsons Players 25 posts 7,544 battles Report post #24 Posted December 5, 2016 I like the campaigns - there were two early on kill a plane and damage a CV, both those were T IV and could be completed in co-op so to guarantee completion i took my CV out in co-op for one battle this means i can guarantee at least 1 plane kill and same for damage on a CV... in one battle both missions done - right at start of mission i sent my trop plans against the dumb AI getting the damage done (also killing it) and then simply a case of putting my fighters against one of the enemy squ to get the plane kill.... simples. Dont have to make it difficult for your self. same again for some of the ship kills a T IV CV should be able to kill of a BB or even two CV in Random Battles missions dont always say kill ships in a specific manner. [ALONE] Smeggo Modder 2,485 posts 15,344 battles Report post #25 Posted December 5, 2016 The CV missions of the first campaign are actually quite easy. Take an AA-Setup-CV and these missions are no-brainers: - spot 3 ships - shoot down 10 planes - burn 5 ships repeat these once and move on to next stage. Did this yesterday and finished the first campaign after 3 hours.
