Realism mode

Just wanted to ask why this isn't a thing yet.

Realistic speeds, weapons ranges, torps that can only fire once, ability to run out of ammo in general, realistic number of aircraft aboard carriers and so forth, possibly as a separate game mode, so everyone who can't handle it won't have to.

This is not how WG design their games. If you want that go play War thunder although I not sure if they've release the navel section of the game yet.

I have no issues with a "realism" mode but WG sees no market for it and I would rather they spent time on other thing atm. Besides I doubt WG's engine or the user's base hardware could handle the computing power needed for it.

Probably because IRL it took 3 days to kill the Bismark.

took 3 days to FIND the Bismarck

took 2 hours to kill it.

but the point is still the same

I think there is definitely a market for a less frantic, more "naval battle simulator" game. WG's push to a more cartoon, arcade-y, aggressive game may work for some of their market but not for others - I cannot stand the Epicentre map, myself, and wish they'd put the Ocean map back on lower Tiers, as well as generally making some of the maps a bit bigger and more sparse to break up the fleets. Comic book things like machine-gun DDs firing endless streams of single rounds, unshielded guns never getting knocked out, they could be given the heave-ho too.

I suggested a hardcore mode a while back, but after being subjected to a nasty bug a couple of times where all the UI disappears, I'm not so sure.

Realism mode would be no fun, games would take a lot longer than 20mins like others have said :teethhappy:

What would suck is being winged by a lucky shot then spending the next 3 days trying to survive (Bismarck again!)

And that's why Bismarck's the best ship.

not because it's the best ship (because it's not)

but because it has such a good story, rivaled only by the emden

you do realise CVs would just crap on any ship then?

and the only role BBs and CA/CLs will have is to escort their CVs and provide AA cover

but I would like realistic Long Lance torpedoes  insane range and damage, and very very very hard to spot

CV would be on a totally different map as it would be idiotic to launch so close to a target and every game would be played on Ocean too as big ships would never go anywhere near any islands  :teethhappy:

Well certainly an action packed (but short) story but there's a few ships out there that could put forward an argument for that. Warspite included...

Well I dont really know much about the warspite, other than it served in both world wars and achieved an incredibly long distance hit on a german vessel

care to tell the story? if I've missed it that is

Think it was an Italian BB.

Warspite survived two world wars and pretty much played a part in every theatre and survived it all.

It was the Giulio Cesare, soon to join the game as SN Novorossyisk. The shell struck a funnel, its cap penetrated the deck and set an ammo stowage on fire (that's why you get those 900 hp hits on masts, funnels and such in game).

I see things from a personal point of view. I'd much rather served aboard the Warspite than the Bismarck, Scharnorst or Titpitz...

I really wish she would be an Italian ship and not a re appropriated RU one...

Guess from a personal point of view, serving on a british ship wouldn't have turned out well for me as a german. :hiding:

No problem, my friend. Just tell them you're related to the Royal Family and you'd get along fine.

Sure it would. Admiral Dannreuther - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hubert_Edward_Dannreuther

Wagner's grandson, and Gunnery officer on HMS Invincible at the Battle of Jutland. One of only six survivors, he stepped out of the ships' topmast into the water as she sank. Not too shabby.
