As Tuccy said in his post, we will not be giving individual feedback. Over 250 people applied so we had to make some tough choices after sifting out people who had failed the basic application requirements.

So...

 

After some deliberations, including checking forum and other history a bit... And of course the secret code word (For reference: It was GLORIOUS SERVER HAMSTER - for next round will be different ;)). We now have to set up few organizational details (that get complicated by the upcoming festive season), but generally if you are on the list, you will soon get rights to a separate Forum section and there you will get more information about the next stage.

 

From over 200 applications we have selected a core group of top 50. We also keep a group of 20 reservists - basically "First in line" in case we want to get more people on board once we process the first batch. Please note that we will not disclose on individual basis why anyone was or was not accepted in the selection - main thing was the quality of feedback / example bug report in the application - and of course failure to find the Glorious Rodent.

 

In some cases a clan membership also played a role. Based on experience from WoT we found it best to onboard esp. members of big clans in Supertest (in this case mostly OMNI and TTT as they already have several members in) carefully - both because of the usual clan drama and even because we want the tester group present a good cross-section of community (even if inevitably skewed towards better players ;)). We can actually often see a large split in feedback between say high achieving highly competitive players and "just" above average casual players.

Good evening my captains. Ladies and gentlemen today they saw that came out of the results of who is chosen to be in the game "supertest". I would like to say a big "Bravisimo" to all. But I want a minute to stay at how "WG" choose these players. Actually saw them one by one and saw that some players have not even 500 battles and some others are quite low their statistics and I wonder if you really these players could actually take the correct result for the game. The "WG" demanded players to have understood the mechanics of the game, to have time, to have experience and their statistics can be quite well.  I dont want to mean anything about the players. Just do not understand the "WG" and critiria for this work. And I wonder simply. I believe that not even seen our requests. Just they did a draw between names. I hope to be able to stand on their height. Pity . Pity for many

They already mentioned that it´s quiete good to have a big spectrum of different skilled players >.<

As Hateshinaku has said, we look to recruit people from a wide cross section of the Community. The Supertest has a diverse range of people, who have different skills. All the best teams have a balanced membership and we want people from a wide range of backgrounds. First and foremost applicants were judged on the quality of their actual application. Stats were only considered in terms of a minimum number of recent battles and to ensure that recruits favoured different ship classes (for example, we did not want to just recruit BB players).

Yes because the test would be completely biased if every ST was a unicum and the game would come out way too hard for the majority of people

As always for accurate statistics rules.

I'm just average/slightly above average when I'm in shape, so no unicum features from me, only against the worst of the players !  And my first 2000 games were pretty terrible... I spent several months at tier 5, 6 and 7 before going higher (I crossed the threshold with Team Battles and was a little scared because I didn't envision crossing that threshold before the arrival of German battleships, I wanted the Bismarck to b my first tier 8...  So I got the North Carolina and the New Orleans first, quickly followed by Tirpitz and Atago, because, reasons...

 

Thank you STC Gods to chose me, I wasn't checking the page as I didn't think the decision would be taken so quickly (I didn't see it coming before early 2017 at best ! )

@ Hanszeehock:  You must have seen that I don't play CV and play DD quite rarely for distraction, I focus on cruisers and BBs most of the time.

CVs are way too stressful for me and DDs on higher tiers too, of course with some exceptions for DDs. 

I wanted to finish German, Japanese and Russian Cruiser lines as well as Japanese and German BB  lines before trying Russian and German DD lines a bit.

I tried to convince them that to include more CV players would only generate more unfair plane...but they didn't listen. 

Anyway, yes, as was already mentioned multiple times, we seek a very broad spectrum of players. Odd as it may sometimes sound, it can often be good to have scrubby players around! (and I'm the #1 scrublord of ST! )

I'm glad you asked me that !! The 50 successful applicants will be given a temporary forum status. This will allow them to see a hidden part of the forum, which will only be accessible to them, STCs and WG staff. This will contain all the info you need about the next stage. Hopefully this will be done in the next couple of days.

It was amusing to read the teasing from the coordinators in the recent days and the community response.
I'm pretty sure they were just trolling for their amusement. 

That aside, I'm impressed how quickly you have managed to process the hundreds of applications. Not sure if most of them were bad enough that they got insta-nuked or if you were working in overdrive. I guess both.

It's important that the Supertesters represent all parts of the community and not just the highly skilled players.
I would even go so far to say that the input from average players may be more important than those of highly-skilled players (despite their expertise), since those make up a much larger part of the community.
The opinions of average players might give WG a better impression of what the community as a whole will feel about future changes than those from unicums.
Introducing ships, maps and balance changes which only appeal to the highly-skilled players might alienate large parts of the community.

Maybe that player never play BB or DD or CV.. And next ????  "SUPERTESTER"  must be a player who love the game and wanna work for the community. "WG" staff do it perfect work but sometimes need more and more and more.

Hardly got any forum activity, probably hurt my chances significantly, but I'm on reddit everyday, maybe I'll see some of you there.

 

Slightly disappointed with the 'clan' situation, but I will respect WG's decision to the end.

 

One more thing though, is it seriously ok to let someone become an ST with less than 500 battles? How much experience can you accrue in that length of time?

I suppose you applied for the ST? 

You know one thing is for sure. Disappointment is a part of life. As much as we would like for everything to be smooth sailing, there will be times where things wont go as we have planned or hoped. We will eventually let down by people, failed by institutions or betrayed by opportunities.

I can tell you one thing  in that regard and you might feel better.

When you get disappointed, it only means you really cared and was serious about your  application. This shows just how passionate and dedicated you can be or are. 

The players skill in regard of testing WoWs is pretty irrelevant. The whole spectrum of different players will give the developers much more insight and views of the whole product. Simple things are just as important as ship balance. You cant judge players by their stats and saying they wouldn't be suitable testers.

Don't worry about it too hard, there is always next time around, probably 2017 sometime, depending on how the process of purging™ and selecting peoples™ go. If you keep up the passion for the game and work, then you should get in, and naturally you would improve at the aspects required of the supertest, like feedback & bug reports.
