campaign missions lead to bad play

why do some of the missions encourage extremely bad game play and habits?

For example.

Honorable service - episode 1 - task 4 asks the player to spot 2 DDs in a BATTLESHIP in or over tier 8.

Now the way the community sees this challange is to jump in an Iowa with the speed flag, mash W and race your DDs to the flag to get the 1st spots on the other teams dds.

however in reality the Iowas are just going to drive into a torpwall thanks to how detection works. This means Bismarcks are gonna be the go to suicide boat for this mission with them having hydro

This is going to leave your team down a battleship and -45 points while also giving the other team +45points for sinking one of your teams ships. In other words thanks to one player trying to progress on one mission he has just made the game much harder and less fun for the other 11 players on his team.

that particular mission is probably made specifically to sell more Missouris with its Radar!

More interestingly is that according to the word of people, it's not just any spotting a DD in a tier VIII BB that does the trick, but apparently you have to be the first one to spot that DD in the game. Not sure if this is confirmed by other players, but if that's the case I suspect the number of players to achieve this without purposefully throwing their ships away will be quite limited.

If I can't get this fairly I'm going to get into my Iowa and rush a cap solo without any support in a straight line.

I will likely get the 2xDD spotting but will get reported for yolo play.

WG has driven me to consider this :sceptic:

Maybe, just maybe, it's to encourage BBs to not camp. Plus if you play smart in your BB it doesn't really matter that much does it?

Yea but still you must have a death wish if you are going 6 km away from a destroyer in the opening of a game.

Getting close enough to detect a DD all by yourself in a BB is typically not considered smart in the vast majority of situations. There are other ship classes that are specifically designed/balanced for doing that instead.

Some pleb (nearly) TK'd me because I "stole his damage". :sceptic: (probably for some mission or task)

But he might as well have TK'd me as he left me on ~200 HP.. I got sunk by an enemy few seconds later.

I dont think it will be as bad as in WoT.

Here we can cherrypick among the missions.

The BB-scout 2 DD : How often do you see most of your team go one way :) Take your BB to the empty cap, and bingo, done in one game. So not a mission I would rush to complete with a mad suicide dash, but defo easy enough, when right game comes along.

While it may lead to some bad behavior, it will also push some BB's closer to the frontline, and that certainly is needed.

And people will play bad nomatter what :/

I had an amusing battle where a Gearing got killed by a carrier when about 2km from him. How? Secondaries? Nah. He got bombed enough times to finally get sunk. He refused to use his torps because he wanted the fires to progress, and got pretty mad at the guy that called him out on that bad play (the guy in question simply called it really bad, to which the Gearing got super salty). I had to laugh, because we were already winning. However, had we been losing and the Gearing been the only teammate near the carrier, I would probably have been pretty mad.

Come on.... always something to complain. I think the campaign is great because of the free rewards. After the crates we get more goodies. Compare this to how it was before with only missions.

Just like with any mission people might do something to get the award, but seriously, most just play the game and the awards come naturally.

Ofc it does. giving people missions inside random battles outside of ffin winning the battle with their team is just utterly stupid. Way to actively SABOTAGE TEAMPLAY wargaming, well done well done indeed.

For me, its the more of "load up the task, play the game normaly, and pray that noone spotted DD before you" type of mission.

Doable, but not that much fun and engaging. So, just do something else, play the game normaly and pray to the god you finish it :)

lol the arsonist one, utter pain... I've tried doing it in a Dunker and that T4 IJN BB with a Cruiser captain but ppl always steal the kill and their HE does too much raw damage to stuff!!!

Oh look, this argument again.

I just set the tasks and then play normally. I check the feasability of the tasks, so that I don't set things like 200 gun hits on T8-X while playing Atago or some such (where my max number of hits in a battle is 180-odd), but apart from that, nothing out of the ordinary.

There are enough missions to avoid the retarded ones so you can still progress but some might have OCD and need to do everything to 100% :teethhappy:

and to add more to the box, that campaign was meant for experienced players to develop moar skillz :playing:

It's not easy but it's not too hard.

You have to be the first to spot yes. But you don't have to spot 2 DDs in 1 game. You can spot 1 and after some games spot another one.

There are some maps that allow for this. Trap, Hotspot, North, Sea of Fortune and Shatter. You can go close to the caps with your BB and launch your plane without risking annihilation.

The apparent difficulties in the conceptual thinking department is one of the main factors that make me doubt the long term viability of this game, indeed. And to think they're actually considering to turn this into an e-sports thing... oh deary.

Can we please refrain from the jokes about psychological conditions? Thanks.
