Well it gives double AA DPS to your 100mm guns, so I'd say that makes a big difference.

*edit: To designated targets ofc.

Yes.

Your short range AA DPS (25mm guns) is 83.

Your long range AA DPS (100mm guns) is 92.

Manual AA increases the DPS from your 100mm guns by 100%, giving you 184 DPS.

That is more long range AA DPS than a NC or Kutuzov (if they are not using Manual AA).

To hell with concealment expert then. I never used that on Russian destroyer leaders anyway.

I'll take that instead XD

When I crawl to the point when I'll be able to afford second tier 4 skill of course

This is outcome with Manual AA and all other perks? :o

Also I just massacred Hiryu squadrons. He was foolish enough to spot me with fighters. He died soon after from my guns :3

Edit: This should be renamed the Akizuki appreciation thread :D

Fully specced. BFT, AFT, MAA, AA range mod and signal.

CV decided to give me some attention while I capped a point.

After a few games I think a 3x4 build might be the most useful and fun. She's very clunky for contesting caps and you get punished like no other DD for getting caught out.

Here's what I'd go > http://shipcomrade.com/skillcalc/01000000010010011001000000

T8 DD table below.

Destroyer Captain build (18 point) HP Surface detection (km) Speed (knots) Gun range (km) Turret rotation time (s) HE DPM Fires per minute Stealth fire window (km) AA Torpedo Torpedo Range (km) Time to Target (s) Reaction time + vigilance (s) Torpedo DPM

you are forgetting quite important thing here

USN heavy cruisers can outrun aki, and last time I checked they had better turn radius than aki

and I don;t recall much ships being able to outrun khaba.....

EDIT: I have a question to all those guys with those fancy books on ships and stuff, and I don't see any better thread to fit in that question, and I don;t think that guestion alone is worthy of creating a new thread

but:

is there in any of those legit historical book sources any sort of detailed maneuverability aspects of akizuki-class destroyers? to be precise I'd mostly interested atm in turn radius at speed of 25 knots [i have noticed that usually turn radius in historical sources gives turn radius at 25kn for all ships regardless of maximum possible speed for a ship as oposed to our wonderfull game :P] my todays google search have yielded me no results besides listing engine type, and cryptic mention on polish wikipedia [which may not be really viable source here] that "they had very good maneuverability" question of course originates from someone asking here on forums if akis turn radius in a game is historical or for balancing purposes, thanks in advance for your time spent on getting throught those books of yours [i'll need to put some money off to get few of these for myself >.>]

I kinda second that question.

Is there any book about late Imperial Japanese Navy destroyers or even a monography about Akizuki class?

The only book I have on those is the Osprey's Imperial Japanese Navy Destroyers 1919-1945 (2) Asashio to Tachibana Classes.

I must say new KM DD line is actually a buff to Akizuki, unlike other lines, they actually have thin enough armor to be penetrated by HE until tier 10 :). They do have more armored patch at midship - but if you have to shoot that, it means they are broadside and AP is fine, if they angle, the bow armor is 12-16 mm in their case, making them take really decent dmg from HE.

Some classes have been articles about in Warships the yearly annual:

Akizuki class Warships 1993 p 143-166

Hatsuharu class Warships 2007 p 91-110

Asashio class 2016 p 42-61

Maybe some more exists

In these annuals there are lot of IJN articles of various ship classes, also in the quarterly Warship 1-49 which preceeded tha annuals.

Hans Lengerer the author/co-author

In Warships International they might be articles also, likewise in the Lengerer/Ahlberg Contribution to IJN or something like that but I do not have any of these

If you look on wikipedia you might find sources there.

I suppose that there might be lots of literature in japanese which might at least give you illustrations and drawings.

There exist short run books also from Poland? with duo language on various naval ships, if they have on your wishlist I do not know

I know that in Polish magazine "Okręty Wojenne" ("Warships") there was an article called "Księżycowe niszczyciele japońskieh floty" ("Moon destroyers of Japanese fleet") but that was in 2001 and I'm looking for something new. Or rather an ecyclopedia of Japanese dstroyers.

I know that some books in Japanese are really good but then again they are in Japanese :(

Well you must hope for a simliar book as Lacroix/Wells on japanese cruisers.

In Lengerer/Ahlbergs book on Yamato they hint of books on the earlier battleships at least.

i had the same issue...206 HE hitting a De Grusse (cant remember name) and only one fire... he is not so good too even on enemy DD as many shells seem to not make damage even on a hatsuharu broadside. AP is better on everything. i use HE only on big BB for the fires. On carriers things are different this ship is a firestarter, a few volleys and CV have many fires...

well first few games done...only one as top tier so MM work as intended..

AP work, sometimes.. HE is almost useless on tier IX-X that I meet a lot.

Right now I can only say that I love this ship, its funny to play and use yet I can't recommend it to anyone, fun is important bout there is a problem called stats that going to fall fast for its a lots and lots of work to get decent result in this ship. Buff to AP penetration or/and HE giving Aki ability to dmg BB with reliability.

ps. Yes I know that I am a bad-average player ^^

For 3x4 which order of perks would you recommend to pick up? AFT DE MAA? Or AFT MAA DE?

I would go AFT, MAA and DE as last.

But I'm running a full AA build.

I have my 19 skill captain on the DD with AA at 7.2km with 100 damage second... concealement at 5.9km... so my steath fire is 8.9km. with AFT artillery range is 12.2km so i have quite a long time in steath HE spamming.  i luv the ship... i suggest you to not get in range of enemy ships, keep out 10 km if you are detected you do have hard times... but the ship is fun to play with.
