Hehe, I'm thinking about it. :teethhappy:

Edit: Two really nice games and of course both were lost. I don't have luck with winning on her ;~;

It is nice to win gun duels with cruisers and burning alive German battleships. Something I enjoyed so much on Kiev. But here you have also nice torps.

Why skip Shiratsuyu?

LWMs Review indicated she is fun

Torp booster and smoke at T7

the problem I see is the maneuverability

the top speed is low but historically correct

but is the big turning circle also historically correct? or is that a balance thing

No idea if the turning circle is historically accurate. But it is inline with the turning circles of other big DDs, so it could be just game balance.

I think turning radius is in part related to the length and width of the ships, short wide ship like the Early US BB's have very small turning radius, while long and narrow ships like IJN DD's tend to have quite large turning radiuses.

out of all IJN DDs currently in the game akizuki is the widest one [and only one that never had stabilisation issues while at it :P

If I were to guess why aki has received so big turning radius I'd firstly start with checking the rudder size in comparision to ships tonnage - she may have small rudder for her size ya know :P

[bTW not so long time ago I was quite sure I've read somewhere that akizuki class destroyers due to their size had 2 rudders, although I can;t refind that quote and in-game model boasts single one]

Like virtually all IJN ships (from Yamato to Kagero) she had a 30s rudder shift in real life.

rudder shift time =/= rudder size

and rudder size when compared to the mass of a ship [or rather rudder mass when compared to mass of a ship] do affect the radius of turn

while the time needed to shift the rudder does not affect final ship radius :P

kk I see :)

well his first broadside piece I have got was when he tried to get his aft turret to fire on me, and at this point seeing his hp melting [he also fired both launcher torps which I have dodged] seems like he decided to finish the turn launch torps from second side hoping for hits and then probably retreat while angling.

thing is though I have left that smoke as soon as my div mate shiratsuyu got killed by very same hipper and I was steaming full speed onto him :)

[so one could say I DD rushed a cruiser trying to rush a DD smoke :P]

[as for direness of situation - their match was already lost tbh we had all caps half their team was dead, so the only additional "threat" from me and my div mate was possibility of us getting to hakuryuu and killing him off, I allowed myself for that yolorush against the hipper only because match was already won, and my potentiall death would not change that in any way]

was that shiratsuyu by any chance me? :P

If you want an interesting build, go for a full AA. You will have to forgo CE for MAA and AFT. But I find Akizuki isnt the ship you really want to take very close to enemy ships.

the Problem even full AA If a strike Lexi vectors its 21 1000 lb DB in your Toast.  Not worth it.

had one case. vs IJN its good enogh thogh you need to be carefull since aki turns like a brick. Us strike are a Problem and with 1000lb you  rarely gets out without damage/fires/module damage.

I'm really happy with the AA build so far but I have a question.

I want her to be an ultimate AA destroyer. Therefore, I'm asking. Does Manual AA make visible difference? Anyone tested that?

Well it gives double AA DPS to your 100mm guns, so I'd say that makes a big difference.

*edit: To designated targets ofc.

Yes.

Your short range AA DPS (25mm guns) is 83.

Your long range AA DPS (100mm guns) is 92.

Manual AA increases the DPS from your 100mm guns by 100%, giving you 184 DPS.

That is more long range AA DPS than a NC or Kutuzov (if they are not using Manual AA).
