Bump!

Does anyone know what this ships "unique camouflage" does? Does it just look pretty, or is there any effect?

EDIT:

Apparently it boosts XP and has the dispersion downgrade for the enemy.

Does it boost XP more than the regular, unique camo pattern for the Graf Spee? The one that comes with every premium, so far?

I got the Graf Spee as a Christmas gift from a friend. Which makes it the second German battleship I've found beneath the tree, since I got the Tirpitz from my wife last Christmas. If I get another one next year, it will be a tradition! :)

I've played the PBB for a few battles now and here's my advice on it:

  • You MUST never sail in a straight line. You should constantly be turning in a pretty much S-pattern, unless there's islands around that let you go from cover to cover.
  • Do not fight any one ship for too long, or someone else will notice you. Choose your targets very carefully. Only fight a BB, if it's busy fighting someone else and its turrets are clearly pointing at someone else. To a BB, you can normally do a little over 5000 points of damage per 3 hits. Do not ever attack into the direction of a group of BBs. Do not look for DDs to fight. You can try, but getting close to them would be very bad. You do not have the number of guns, or the reload time to fight a DD at close range.
  • Get the turret rotation speed upgrade captain skill. Unlike the rotation speed upgrade module, this does not downgrade your rate of fire. This is necessary to keep up with all the turning you'll be doing. With it, the turrets will turn at an impressive speed, allowing you to make any turn you want.
  • While we're on the subject of captain skills, get the skill that lets you change ammunition faster. If you're loaded, it will change ammunition in 10 seconds.
  • I don't have that skill on it myself, but I would imagine that the "concealment expert" skill would be quite useful here.
  • Don't camp. Obviously. But this is even more important for this ship, seeing as how it has nearly no armor. Having played proper BBs a lot, I know it's only a matter of time until someone sees you and when that happens, no BB will pass the opportunity. Speed and bullet dodging are probably safer.
  • The torps have good range, so you should use them at every opportunity, but they can not sink any full health BB in a single hit, even if all 4 torps (from one side) hit. Keep that in mind if you plan on attacking any BB. You are not a DD.
  • Assuming that you don't get chased by some machine-gun cruiser, you can defeat any cruiser just fine. As you can see on youtube, you can not hit their citadel at higher ranges (especially not if they're angled), but they will turn eventually and when they do... Boom! Depending on the range, you might also try to make a maneuver that forces them to turn (I don't know, use your imagination).
  • Perhaps most importantly: Do not put too much effort into becoming the most contributing team member (points-wise). This ship does not have the capacity to do that. No armor and really low damage per minute. The best use I can think of for it is to distract and divert the enemy as much as possible, to let the rest of the team do what they do a bit easier. If you can have fun while doing this, it's fine.
  • If you end up having to fight tier 8 ships, you might as well exit to port right at the start of the battle. ...Unless you're OK with going on an ineffectual suicide mission.

Never exit to port at the start of a game, just because you think you will loose. There is nothing worse than running away before the battle really gets going because you think you will loose. You put your team at a massive disadvantage straight away.

Man up, grow a pair, and do your best for the team.

Historically the KM built an entire strategy based on choosing the right moment to run away. The bigger strategic picture was far more important.

Cobblers. We are not talking about history. We are talking about leaving your teammates in the lurch because some wimp that doesn't have any balls decided to chicken out without even firing a shot.

With guns more powerful than tier8 cruisers no less.

:fishpalm: The number of times I've done that (in the PBB) is actually 0. And that point does actually have one more sentence that I see is being purposely ignored here.

Indeed it does.

And that rest of the sentence is:

Unless you're OK with going on an ineffectual suicide mission.

Paraphrasing:

"You might as well just quit and go back to port unless you want to be useless"

Which is a thinly veiled way of saying that you're suggesting to go back to port if you're not top tier.

No. You don't need to be at the highest tier. There's a difference between fighting an uphill battle and not being able to do anything useful at all. As pointed out before, it has a lot to do with ones attitude.

Bump.

Gonna point out more minor facts about this ship.

  • I think I've gotten better at killing cruisers with it. In fact, as long as the enemy is close enough (like 12 or less km), it might just be better at it than some BBs, due to the better reload time. Obviously BB guns are more powerful and there's usually more of them, so a BB should be able to do it faster in a single "devastating strike", but assuming that the first salvo misses a little, the PBB can do it faster and usually still in a "devastating strike".
  • Its guns are pretty small in comparison to BBs, so one might think HE works better against them, but nope. So far at an average AP works better every time. The rate of fire is just too low to set fires (or at least that's what I think the reason is). By now the largest number of damage points I've done to a BB in a single salvo was over 8000, but unfortunately I didn't check how many hits that was. Average damage with HE is under 2000 points, but would obviously be higher if I didn't miss as much.
  • So yeah, the only time to load HE is when you're fighting trying to fight a DD, or when you're trying to piss off / distract a BB.
