chatban misuse

JUst had auto chatban by complaints for saying

arizona reported

why?

for being no use

miles from anywhere, cant spot base so cant shoot (he had played most of the game at the edge and could not get back as the only player left  to defend base)

 

various complaints of no no thats not right, he's fine etc etc, im reported and auto ban

I used no swear words and no insults, just that people didnt like my opinion

 

i mean come on!!!!

Your whining about noob teams must've been persistent and infuriating - I find it exceedingly unlikely that ANYBODY would possibly get a chat ban by being reported once, by one player (or even by one player plus his divisionmates).

Also your massive perjorative assumption is completely incorrect ie persistent whining, you weren't there all you have to go off is what I said. Also perhaps you should look up what whining means as you appear to have no idea.

There is a difference between giving advice and publicly announcing that you reported someone because that player doesn't play to your standards. Often enough, those complaining also don't fullfill those standards themself.

 

And be honest. With your message that you reported a player, you hoped that others would report that one as well. Your plan, of which you might not even have been aware of in your anger, backfired on you.

Again more assumptions, no I didn't expect anyone else to report them, though one or perhaps more had complained about their position. Not angry either just indicating that if you are 15+ km from the centre cap you are not in a position to help, which to me is poor play. I am fine with reporting it I just don't expect to get banned for mentioning something. Otherwise what is a poor play report for?

Also I would rather have someone say publicly and why, rather than do it anonymously, seems more honest to me

If someone said to me that I'm "reported" for playing badly, I'd probably smack him with a chat misbehavior right away (especially since I'd probably be in the process of having a really bad game and being pretty frustrated about it).

The point isn't, however, that you did some truly terrible things in chat that game. The thing is: nobody gets a chat-ban for ONE report. I don't know if you said enough to get A LOT of reports there. I don't know what you said in previous games. I don't know how well you did (bad players calling for reports based on somebody else's performance is extremely annoying to anyone who feels that the team is letting him down). What I know is that you gathered a lot of chat misbehavior reports. Perhaps you should think about what you did to get them rather than come to the Forums seeking sympathy due to "chatban misuse" you supposedly encountered?

Considering I got report-bombed just yesterday by a scrub who couldn't accept that the guy who citadeled him after he stupidly went through the channel in Two Brothers wasn't a cheater (long story short, after it became apparent that he wouldn't take l2p as an answer, I trolled him in chat a bit and he blew all his remaining five daily reports on me, lost 5 Karma points ) yet didn't get a chatban, I'm convinced that it takes a LOT of reports for the automated system to hand out suspensions. So in that regard, you either unfortunately ran across half the population of Salt Lake City, or you had it coming in the long run.

 

Mind you, the readily exploitable lack of discrimination by the automated system is far from perfect, but they usually are quite tolerant to avoid swinging the banhammer left and right, so you had to accumulate a lot of reports and that isn't easy unless you somehow give people a cause. A lot of online players are closeminded, but not all of those are actually belligerent on their own!

I got reported (twice in same battle) for not going into cap in my BB even though there were 3 enemy dd's continually spotted at that cap point. I came 3rd for xp and my reporters (in a div and blatantly obvious trolling kids), well, I won't embarrass them by saying their respective positions but both were in double figures. Just brush it off and come back all guns a-blazing.

I have no problem at all in getting it for swearing and insults, which I have before but the lack of discrimination looks to be a problem. Reports for poor play particularly and bot look to be entirely based on ones own opinion, I can't see any guidance so you have to base it on your own view.

Well "misbehavior in chat" is also subjective - apparently your behavior was deemed not acceptable by people you were playing with. Just like you decided that the way Arizona played was unacceptable.

Do you use that kind of attitude throughout the game or do you keep it in reserve for here?

Chat ban is all familiar. You complain about your team, because they are useless and they shout 'repoort'. Sham you can't report 'morons' - not bots. I don't care, 24 hours that I don't get to call my team morons - if I am playing in those 24 hours.

Get Aslain, install the "disable chat mod". Never write again, so that negative reports do not get you banned. Point.

 

That's the non-cooperative, toxic atmosphere Wargaming wants to create in this game. No "o7 [enemy player you know]", no "Bismarck has repaired, light him up", no "I am coming with smoke for you, Yamato". Just treat it like a single player game. Works for me.

I got chat banned...again - for stating facts and asking questions.

Last two games where rather meh, and the teams literally did hide like [edited] behind rocks - which i mentioned and asked politely if they think it's possible that they grow at least pea sized balls at some point during the game. I think the grand total of reports was 12, of which 5 alone in the last game.  Achievement "pissing of [edited]by stating facts" unlocked!

 

So, one of those spineless [edited]can not only fail at the game and insult away ( and he even failed at that), but gets away with it, while the other spineless [edited] manage to get me a chatban for stating facts...nice system. ^^

I must agree, nice system. I mean, when I hear what people who get chat bans say and witnessing their general attitude towards the game and teammates, I must say - the system seems to be working properly and chat bans are handed to exactly the correct kind of people.

Why not when you get a bad team, simply play your best and move on. You will probs do better on teams next time

 

I fail to see what endlessly spamming chat is going to achieve. Except pissing off the one or 2 actually good players on the team that are trying to win the game.

 

You never know if you actually clear chat channel then any good players on the team may actually be able to communicate and pull the game through regardless of the rest of the teams input. Spamming chat tho yeah not helpful at all

How many people need to report someone to get reported message, i would assume 4 or 5, so if 4 or 5 report someone it must surely be deserved

One is enough, whether the message pops up or not depends on when you've been reported.

If it happens during the game, you'll get the message popup in port, otherwise not.

i always report with the chat-option.

because the other 2 have NO consequences

 

the chatban-report at least punishes over time

Back in the good old days of closed beta I received a chat ban for one violation and on reflection deserved it. Thankfully it was lifted when the game went live. I for one learnt my lesson. Regardless of your own beliefs and opinions the chat box is not the place to vent your rage or opinions. At the end of the day this is a game and regardless of a games  age requirement to play it there are always those younger who do in fact participate and it is because of this players need to remember to hold their tongues. Yes it's frustrating to encounter players with little skill, but hey who are you to voice that. Remember this, that person with the zero skill could be disabled or recovering from a serious illness so imagine how they feel reading the chat log. It's a game, end of! If anyone is that frustrated, here's a tip, go and have a cuppa or log out for a bit. Now I'll sit back and wait for the abuse to start

WHAT? There is exactly the report option for playing badly. This is the purpose of it. 

And on the other side, reporting bad play and telling the team about it (even in hope they will report that bad player too) has nothing, NOTHING to do with "chat misbehavior".

 

Instead of "smacking" you should apologize, maybe ask what you did wrong, and promise you'll be better next time

I have never been chat banned and god know why cos I can be a right arse at times

The number is a secret - or so i heard - but you collect them over time. Once a chat ban has been lifted, you start at 0 again.

It's difficult to keep track, as not everyone reports you right away during the game.

And reports that players issue after the game, aren't displayed in your port.
