It is neither "fun" or "engaging" to get tagged by a solitary torp and detonated from full health, 3 mins into a game.

This so called game mechanic is lazy and simply stupid, please remove it from the game.

1 torp in my Bismark from dozens fired at it and dead, brilliant game mechanic that is neither fun nor fair, there is waaaay too much RNG in this game already, this mechanic just rubs salt into the wounds.

Unbelievably fecking annoyed right now.

Please remove people complaining about detonations from the forum once and forever.

I get detonated quite often. In my DDs. Not so often in my BBs. About once every 100 battles maybe, probably less often.

But all the while someone who got detonated in his BB comes to the forum and starts whining again... *sigh*

I've been detonated 14 times my last 300 battles. Frustrating as [edited].

Yesterday I got detonated after taking 1 Hatsu torp...suck much for calling them a fail division....

Yes they are rare, but they can be very annoying.

Just this weekend I detonated 2 DDs with my Mogami... in one battle. Both of them from nearly full hp.

The very next game I got detonated myself, by the very first shell that hit me.

The thing about detonations is that they are very funny, unless it happens to you. Then they are very frustrating, because its a game element you don´t have any control over (apart from anti-detonation flags).

I think it's fun.

And you have flags for it, even a module now.

in 2.5k battles i've got 13 detonations. They are not that big of a deal.

Clearly some folk have never played WoT and been ammo racked in their tier 10 behemoth.(Instant deletion after 'brewing up')

I guess after that, the chance of detonation is entirely acceptable.

3102 matches, 27 detonations.

Yeah, about once every 100 matches... I think a disproportionate amount of them were even in destroyers, so...

They're annoying, though.

Hey, let's introduce bullcrap mechanics into all games and just leave them there because they happen rarely. Let's make competitive Starcraft and League of Legends games have a chance of 1% to be decided before they even started. That surely will increase viewer numbers, competitive spirit and of course will help that the best team wins.

People have every right to whine about this mechanic. It's only there so bad players rarely get a lucky shot that wins them a fight they would have lost otherwise. That in itself isn't a bad thing, but in a competitive PvP game it is around as fun as cheaters - the only difference is that the former doesn't get you banned.

There is one reason to remove detonations, but it's not about them being annoying. The problem is the too large influence of a purely RNG based mechanic on the outcome of a match, especially towards the end of a battle. Maybe suspend detonations once a team has fallen back more then three ships or is below four ships total?

It happened regularly IRL, where magazines were maybe less well protected than in this game. I haven't had one in a few hundred games, nor have I delivered one.

I have played WoT.  A ridiculous number of games, as a matter of fact.  You can not compare being ammo racked to being detonated at all.  With ammo racks, you can aim for them with the intention to damage the enemy's ammo rack then, with a second hit before the module has been repaired, finish them off with a bang.  You may not need two shots, sometimes a single one is all it takes.  But, it *is* (or at least can be) skill based in that it requires a knowledge of a tank's armor layout.  Yes, one can get a lucky RNG shot where you perhaps weren't actually aiming for the rack but dispersion carries it in there or, maybe you have no clue about these mechanics and just plain get lucky.  In WoWs, there is absolutely no skill involved at all.  It is pure RNG and only requires that you shoot at a friggin' ship.  Having knowledge about your opponent is irrelevant and, even when we do in principle know where the magazines are, dispersion in this game is so much greater that one really can't say, "I'm aiming for a detonation."

Frankly, it *is* a cr4p mechanic and should be removed.  That it happens "rarely" is no excuse.  It's frustrating as h3ll (for me, regardless of which end of the equation I'm on) and, in my experience, has too great of an affect upon a game's outcome.

Edit:  I've just taken a look and, in my case, I get detonated once per 40 games on average.  Keep in mind that I always run flags on those ships most prone to detonations and have earned a whole lot of extra anti-detonation flags from ranked play and now the containers.  Imagine now how frequent they would be if I only had the supply of flags that come from being detonated.  Not quite so rare as some of you make it out to be, eh?

56 detonation in 6500 battles.

But i really love two of them :)

18k damage with kurfurst then bye bye:

And zero damage with yammy then bye bye :)

Detonations are ok when are on enemy team. When happends to my, i remember Gods in first minute then i swear myself that i will never put a antidetonation flag on a BB. Never!

This is just another topic where you won't reach an agreement between the "Remove" and 'Don't remove" players. Simply cause it's a matter of opinion. So this topic is pointless

Are they really random or are they part of the ship damage model? If it's the latter it can at least be excused as skill-based. But then I'd want that information ingame, visible on demand, in the armor view. Show me where to shoot, or how I need to position myself to minimize the risk.

Basically, don't have random or obscure mechanics that can instakill the player. Game design 101.

Fun fact since the last 3 months I neither scored nor received a detonation. I even stopped aiming below the turrets at the waterline since you no longer have a good chance to score a det . There are flags and mods that prevent this, you might want to use them....other people do.

It's competitive. It rewards winning much more than losing and there are unique rewards for ranked. It gives people incentives to win and thus creates competition. You don't have to have a large esports scene to be competitive.

if it was competitive it would be balanced around competitive modes. now it is balanced around random.

ranked isnt competitive mode. ranked is random with rewards.

and btw team battles was only competitive mode so far and it wasnt rewarded.
