German DD line and Graf Spee coming?

I'm looking forward to the German DD Line, but I must say I also look very much forward to finally seeing the Graf Spee in the game! What are your thoughts and opinions?

I have nothing against the German DDs, but i don't think i will get around to playing then any time soon. I think i will crack on with the RN CLs and have just finished the Gneisenau, so now have a Bismark to upgrade. Obviously if they look good on release i will have a go. The Graf Spee will depend entirely on how much they charge for that £15 ship.

One thing that's worth considering for Graf Spee is her potential involvement in the Haifuri collaboration. If they do something similar to the ARP content of offering missions for ship skins from the series, there could be a potential for a 'free' Graf Spee. That's just a speculation though, I have no idea how they're gonna do the Haifuri collab (There's only so much content available, it's a much smaller series compared to Arpeggio).

 

German DD's though, yes. They look very interesting, definitely gonna give them a go.

My only problem with the German DDs is that they seem to be using allot of paper designs where they could be using real historical ships.

Well I am not a DD player but I will grind them at least to T6/7 or something as that goes reasonably fast and I have done that in the other DD trees.

I also want to be familiar with their capabilities when I face them.

 

I have done some forays in DD but I am doing Noob mistakes due to playing DD too little, f.e. how to use smoke to help my own team.

 

Was yelled at yesterday by a NO complaining about me not using smoke and chatting useless noob DD player use smoke or something

 

Did not respond - are not good enough in DDs to tell if he was correct or just angry, next game I was at the top of the team results  after some torping. (Farragut)

 

Think DD is fun to get variation but will never concentrate, so T6/7 is enough.

 

Graf Spee I will buy if the offer is reasonable but when not sure, Belfast was told to be OP like König Albert so bought day 1. Graf Spee may not be that so will probably wait if the price is not very attractive.

 

Depends also on her final stats and the gameplay that suits her, LWMs Review I look forward to.

I probably will play the DDs, with it being the class I most consistently enjoy and all, and I have port slots to burn after missions and whatnot. While I'm more interested in the IJN split (really I hope this comes first, or at the same time) and a British line, we haven't had any sort of DD line for over a year. The mix of tube counts on the lower tiers looks interesting (wonder if Omaha A & B hulls will be corrected to carry 2x2 lower & 2x3 upper sometime).

you will be hard pressed to find a single nation that hasn't done its fair share of atrocities in the last few centuries... damn it, i even play the only one that still does plenty of such stuff nowadays, and i couldn't care less. mainly because it's a bloody videogame!

Im actually not that bothered about what the various nations have done. Like you said this is videogame =) I just find it kinda hypocritical for the poster to state that he/she wouldnt play anything Nazi yet is perfectly fine with with IJ.

 

But on topic i wonder how the Graf Spee will fare with only 2 turrets.

You seem to forget that WW2 wasn't that long ago and that I knew familymembers that suffered under the nazis. So in name of my grandfather and great- grandfather (both I have known) I will not play 1 pixel of nazi memorabilia.

True, their performance is so horrible, it boggles the mind.

I'm thinking about selling all my RN CLs, with stats like average damage on my T VI, VII and VIII ships that is on par - or close to it - with my TX CAs, they sure as hell are no keepers.

That's when you get issues in other countries where children are born into hatred of others just because of something way in the past. The sins of the fathers shouldn't be visited upon the sons.

 

If it bothers you that much, why the hell are you even playing a WW1/2 game? and what if your teammates are in German ships? Do you team-kill them? If your teammate in a German ship needs help, do you help them? or just turn away and leave them?

I don't think of any kind of ideologie when playing German tanks or ships in games, I think about the game or about the ship/tank in question. I'm Dutch, I also have family which undoubtedly suffered from a divisive ideology, but unlike you it seems I am able to differentiate between 'tech' and ideologie. I despise any divisive ideologies, but I can admire a Tiger tank regardless. Or the Scharnhorst, or the Bismarck.

The Japanese has never hurt my family. The key words are ' my family'. For me it isn't what they did to humanity. It's all about what they did against people I really have loved. And if you regard family (recent history) is a feeble excuse that's your own opinion. Personally I have my family close to my hart even if they are already dead. And what other players do  that is for them to decide. The question was about will YOU play German DD's. And not will you play in teams with German DD's. And my answer is still NO. 

 

But it seems I should give my apologies to the German fanboys for the fact I value my own family history. In WW-games I always have played US, USSR, France or Japan.
