ARP, Opting out.

As the title states, is there any way of opting out of any/all of the ARP missions/rewards? I've won a few ARP ships and captains but have no interest in them whatsoever and never played a single battle with them.

I know the ships only appear in my port if I select a specific one (Yokosumo I think), consequently I never select that one. However, every battle I see progress reports of current ARP missions and find it a minor annoyance considering my preferences regarding these.

Would it not make sense to have an option to choose visibility of ARP related stuff in battle results and missions or even opting out completely?

Its only a minor annoyance and doesn't detract from the main focus of the game, but as a retired RN submariner and general naval history nerd, I find the 'cartoon' aspect of WoWS unwarranted and for me, unnnecessary.

yeah... I'm not quite sure why not selecting Yokosuka doesnt just hide all the related content including the missions. I dont mind them personally, but... whelp it would make sense (which is probably as good a reason as any for why it's not like that )

Wait january, then the last missions will end and you won't see anything unless you select yokosuka.

You know, I don't give a crap about the anime either, but I like making four different Kongo builds. Myoko, not so much (luckily it seems like I will only get one of these), though I'm going to like the Atago clone if I manage to win 50 times with the Fubuki.

Folk need to lighten up.

All these ARP missions are essentially free port slots if you've already got the ships.

Even with non APR ports you still get the slots.

Completely free port slots for playing mid/higher tier, why so glum? :amazed:

You don't "have" to have anything ARP though?! :great:

Just don't use the APR port and you won't see anything, well you'll see the little girls in the Missions screen but you don't "really" need to look at that to play the game.

You are worked up over the fact that you see mission updates in the bottom corner of your screen, and once in a while a reward in the list of rewards?

In that case, I can just as well claim that I'm offended to see Soviet ship mission.
Also, your past affiliation has absolutely no bearing on the game's content.

Well unless your grinding a SOVIET ship, you would not see the SOVIET ship mission after each match

No, I can also see a mission where I kill Soviet ships. And that makes a reference to them from time to time.

And according to the OP, I'm entitled to complain about that minor detail.

Because I can see a tiny mission update appear for a few seconds.

Well ask the devs to add an opt out button then for all missions.

You keep your little uniformed pubescent cartoon characters, and the others who choose not to do them don't have to get spammed with it.

Soviet missions, segal missions.... everyone have the choice to opt out... how is that not a good idea and fair? You clown fan boys who are arguing because others do not follow your hobby or want to is pathetic.

There is nothing wrong with having an opt out option. But you seem to consistently force the notion of those ships/commanders into some weird colloquial meme sexual ephebophilic direction. I can't see what does such devious coloration accomplish?

And it comes from where exactly? I mean, if captains were, I don't know, raccoons, would you force bestiality remarks? If captains were trees, would you condescendingly shout "dendrophilia"?

You seem really, really overly defensive over something as neutral as video game aesthetics and you constantly try to load the notion with additional "data" which is there only if you push it there.

I'm in support of hiding certain mission. I really don't care about these anime things. Give me a simple filter for the mission, if I can't fully opt out. I mean, look at this...

People complain about lack of events. WG starts 10+ missions with free stuff. People complain about too many missions. Logic stronk.

Do you need to complain about everything in your life?

Even if you don't play the ships, you get free port slots if you have the ships already. You don't need to play them or see them. What do you complain about? Some people have really sad and unhappy life.

About the OP idea, sure why not, it will not hurt anyone to have the option to hide mission progress.

I rest my case..

From this picture I see they are rather developed, nothing "weird" going on. Also, I haven't watched the series so I can't say, but there's promo material and there's actual series. I doubt that they are going around having vicious sex with each other in the series.

That said, I wasn't talking about the marketing of the anime or manga or whatever (as any other product, it's bound to be marketed through sex), but about people liking the collaboration. You yourself referred to them as "disco ships". Maybe people like disco ships? Maybe they liked the anime series and are fond of having it featured in game? Are you REALLY insinuating that everyone that enjoys the arp content is having a major erection while playing, figuratively speaking? Your posts are highly indicative of it, looking at all the "them", "their hobby", "pubescent girls" etc. remarks all around the place. You are regarding a collaboration as if WG introduced a necrophiliac incest ridden monster gore porn material or something.

Again, you are implying that sexy gurlz are the ONLY content and only entertainment the collaboration has to offer. There are neon ships, there are voice overs, there are illustrations etc.

Well, I do see soviet ships IN every match and there is no way to disable THEM, even by switching ports...

Oh well, go play Battle Stations Pacific then

How about you do the same, then you'd see no ARP content either.

Funny how that argument works both ways eh?

Quite apart from the--ahem--aesthetic qualities of the content in question, does "earning" an ARP captain still take up a space in your crew area that you cannot free up (because there is no way to fire them)?

Because last time I checked it does, & that is an unbearable affront to those of us who don't wish to ah, indulge in this side of the game, as we are expected to spend money, not even to play a "free-to-play" game, but just so we can buy more bunk-space & therefore have the spaces back in our own crew roster which we might have carefully husbanded (pardon the pun).

This has been the major annoyance for me & I know for others. With no way to opt out of "earning" further "rewards" of this nature, it makes me play less (I already got two or three of the fecking things by "mistake", simply by playing). I don't want any more & didn't want any in the first place.

Thanks for proving my point about your intentions in your trolling.

Also, I've never been on a date with a fictitious drawn person of any sort. You seem to be extremely confused about the difference between fiction and reality.

You won the Troll on the year award 5 posts back.

I said each to there own... you like such things great.. why force it on others.. this is World of Warships not World of ARP...

I have made this clear in all posts.. the only one trolling around here is you... since you mentioned ww2 and Disney lets have this character instead...

Aren't you getting a captain and a slot?

That has been a problem previously, yes (especially since it was possible to get a captain without a ship AND the duplicates of captains still can't be dismissed. There was a workaround (have reserve full when getting the captain, resulting in it appearing in a new slot) but it was a mess (even though you could actually get a +free reserve slot that way if you got captain extending the reserve and got the ship to assign her to - the reserve slot sticked with your account even then).

Now it's better, if you just do nothing, you'll either get more reserve slots (if you don't have a ship, a captain will appear on the ship and you'll get a reserve slot) or more port slots (your spare captain ends up in reserve, you get an extra reserve slot AND your duplicate ARP ship doesn't arrive but the port slot it was supposed to go in: does).

Although the workaround still works so if you keep reserve full, you can get a reserve slot AND a port slot (if you have a ship) or possibly two reserve slots if you don't.

It's still a mess but they fixed it so that a player can't lose reserve slots by completing missions he doesn't care about. This time the player is always ahead one way or the other. A needed change, as it was royally f*cked up that you could actually lose stuff (reserve slots) for completing missions if you didn't take special precautions.

There's no way I can see of opting out, so you'll either have to keep below tier 5 so you don't fulfill the requirement of tier 5 and up or you wait till January when the missions end. Although, can't you just sell the reward ships and have a few extra credits in pocket?

... so much misinformed and insulting stuff

But how will you react next year, when the next anime collaboration starts?

The opt out for ARP is not selecting the Yokosuka port. The missions will disappear on first of january at the latest. If you really can't take tiny pictures of drawn female characters in after battle reports or in the mission screen you can always spend your time somewhere else.

Your hatred towards that content and anyone who might like it is quite obvious. You might want to learn about tolerance a bit and let those who enjoy the show, ships, characters, whatever enjoy it if they want to. Your opinion is not the only one in the world that counts.

You can't they're not sellable. Although the missions always leave you with at least one extra reserve slot (if you didn't have a ship) or a port slot (and some credits that don't arrive because the missions are bugged) so there's nothing to lose. His problem is with the notifications of progress appearing, though, so reward calculations don't address his concerns...
