What is the point of buying prem/prem ships/credits to ease and shorten the grind towards T9/10, if you just can buy them directly.

Businesswise: I'd say direct cash income. Gamewise you're absolutely right. In fact I made that mistake: buying Atago when I was roaming the T4-5's. Bought it too soon so it was a painful lesson. But I don't see, business wise, any reason or difference in selling a T9-10 or a T1 for that matter with the other tier premiums. So I don't get why there aren't any ingame. And why should a Wow's player who likes the game only want to shortcut the grind? IMO the grind is part of the fun of the game for the vast majority of people playing it. Of course I can understand not everyone likes to play a grindgame and I doubt you'll see those players much around here. But that's a matter of taste.

But don't get me the wrong way of course. I'm only curious to the reason why only T2-8 premiums. Not to start a off topic discussion. :teethhappy:

I suggest you watch the movie. It has boobies, cliches, predictable scenes, USS Missouri! Steven Segal when he was fit. In short, a typical Steven Segal flick, but great for your entertainment.

They could be like ARP ships you know

That was my first thought, too. :teethhappy:

A staged mission like "Do 3000 hits with main guns, grind 50000 base exp, win 100 battles". Time: 2 months. Reward: The "Pearl Harbour" port which changes every Iowa into a Missouri. :teethhappy:

On a serious note: I also doubt that it will be a premium ship (as in "buyable with money") since WG never sold tier IX or X premium vehicle, maybe to give players a reason to progress the tech trees instead of just buying tier X vehicles and therefore to populate the low tier areas.

I personally hope it will be a mission reward and not a ranked battle reward like the Flint was. And I see no real reason to make Steven Seagal available for everyone by giving him away via a simple "grind exp" mission but make the Missouri (his ship, in a way) only available for the ones who play ranked battles. But in this case and because it would be a tier VIII or IX ship I wouldn't mind a more challenging mission.

Doubt they release a tier 9 premium.

There is a tier 9 premium ship:

Black — American promo premium Tier IX destroyer.

--> promo, which means it is not available under normal conditions like the premium shop or with dubloons in the tech tree (and never was?). Hence it falls somewhat in the same as the VK 72.01 (K) which was a CW reward tank in WoT and therelike. They can be above tier VIII but normally such vehicles don't exhibit properties like increased credit income.

I cannot wait for this.

Seagal is a reward captain so i could see if being a reward ship but depending on tier would depend on the challenge.

Then again WG could make it an out and out premium for T8, i really doubt T9 but you never know.

I`m also interested how they will make it. Personally I bet for a reward ship, maybe for team battles (they launched clan beta after all).

As for premiums range - tier IX-X premium could allow you to be self-sustainable creditwise while only playing those games instead of forcing you to spread and play on different tiers keeping they`re population healthy (that`s why those reward ships have no economic bonuses) - tier VIII is high, but still has MM range spread on half of tiers in game.

I would be more interested in this whole farrago if Erika Eleniak was the captain.

1st of the ship is too historic for me anyway, to tie in to a c-grade long-over-the-top actionheros best B-movie.

Having Steven Seagall captain the Missouri, is about as correct as having McArthur at the helm. And I'm not a fan of neither.

So even though I have had the USS Missouri (BB-63) in 1945 config as a scale model on my shelf for 20+ years, I'm not sitting ready with my purse half open :)

What I fear most is some halfarsed version forced into tier 8 as a moneygrab, then I'd rather see her as a tier9 prem.

Everybody is busy quoting the rule about premiums only going up to tier 8.

Just remember that rule was made by WG them selves ...

And I'm probably gonna fall back on my ols mantra: It has to be something speciel - ie different from the ingame ship, for me to spend RL money above tier 4-5.

So Just Another Sistership Premium is not for me.

Vote no to J*A*S*P !!

Also there is the Buffalo as tier X american CA (similar to Des Moines, but with torps), but nobody knows nothing... :sceptic:

Fun fact for movie & ship lovers.

The movie "Under Siege" is an action/thriller revolving around the USS Missouri, an Iowa-class battleship.

However, the entire movie was shot aboard the USS Alabama, a South Dakota-class battleship.

So, this 'Steven Seagal / Missouri' relationship is in reality false. He never set foot on the actual ship!  :)

By the time the movie was shot, maybe the Missouri was still in active duty?

Missouri was decommissioned on March 31, 1992. "Under Siege" was released in 1992, so the filming should have taken place in '91 - I'd guess - at which time she still was in - kind of - active duty.

And the Alabma had been a stand-in for the Missouri on a couple occasions.

"Keep the faith Strannix!" I need to watch some Seagal movies again :D. He's such a great character actor.

Actually a fun detail. "Under Siege" features Gary Busey as well who recently did a cameo appearance on the latest Hitman game.

Ok.... but how would they if they did?

The biggest chunks of money WG get are in people who pay their way up the tech tree by converting free XP. Most people (largely the ones that don't come to the forums) wanna play top tier all the time and so the highest tier premiums are the best sellers. They've got two moneymaking methods here that both exploit the desire for instant progression in a kind of two-step way (buy prem ship, then pay more to convert XP from it). Giving players T9/10 premiums (tier 8 is typically regarded by players as where high tier starts, but from WG's game design and business standpoint it's 9, and in WoT most of the T9 tanks are essentially only lite versions of the T10s, so T9 and 10 are largely on the same power level compared to the differences between 8 and 9) gets them the instant gratification at a probably lower price (they'd be... I guess £50? while T8 prem + converting XP off it will total like £75) and means there's no grind whatsoever which means the player is not at all invested into the grinding part of the game, so they don't get like emotionally attached to it and stuff.

I'm just rambling at you but I hope that makes some sense.
