ARP Takao? nah, prepare for the ARP Nachi pain

I don't like to see people suffering. I'm spamming Russian cruisers like hell. I even ask in team chat if enemies are grinding for Nachi so if the situation appears I'll happily suicide for them. There aren't that many russian boats in the higher tiers since the ARP mission. IMO that sucks. the Nachi grinders have less chance and the Russian ship grinders are being stalled. My strong suggestion is to change the mission to 20 IJN, 20 USN and 40 non IJN/USN ships. Or heck: 50. So that way nobody is "safe," there still is a challenge and people don't get burned out by tunnelvisioning only to russian vessels....

Well oddly I went out in my Chapy this morning. Did 60k damage, sunk 3 ships and survived. Didn't get focussed or even shot at much. I felt like saying "hello!!! Russian ship here!! Shoot me!"

When players just give up on a mission... :P

Finished the mission a few days ago, I thought WG might have learned what a bad idea kill missions are, let alone one that requires you to kill certain ships but apparently not.

If I had any Russian ships at tier eight i'd be spamming them about now because it was such a pain even seeing them at times, thank you to anyone who was doing so though.

I've been doing about one soviet game a day for the tier 8's in my Budyonny. It's not much, but better than nothing.

I usually ask enemy team not to destroy my Budy unless their tier 8. Or start with "Hello T8, I'll be one of your priority targets for today". I've survived one game in that ship recently. It felt surprisingly disappointing. :D

As more and more people finish the mission, they will start to ignore the Russian ships as long they are not a vital threat. I did that in the last days. After I finished the mission, I don't think I sunked a single Russian ship.

So have faith, there is still a full month ahead. Go get it.

Finally got the mission done and I'm so happy.

What a horrible mission.

on a serious note: i really hope they will tone down the nachi mission... (again) or just change it to x sink ships... it feels like a nightmare that farted to aggressively

I don't remember (since I completed it long ago), but isn't it possible to do the missions in coop as well? Just div up with mates, drive RU ships and you're guaranteed at least 2-3 RU ships per game.

Regardless of the missions, I would still like to know what EU didn't get the 10 point captains.

Of course not lol, it would be too easy then. Everyone would finish it in 2-3 games.

This way very little people will get it.

On NA, and probably RU servers, yes. The new NA missions require you to get 110k xp, on T6+ ships, in random or co-op battles. And you get 10 point captains for all ships, too. But on EU we're apparently too special to have that option.

Instead of doing something with the missions they just "reminded us" that this is the last chance to get the ARP's.With insight in what the other servers have as requirements it just adds to the insult. We on the EU are sure treated worse.

Well. WG are in a bind now. Leave the mission alone and hope there is enough time or change the mission requirements and risk the wrath of people who did complete the mission and will think "well I won't bother next time WG will just make it easier".

Here's hoping for a mission to sail tier 8+ Russian ships before too long.

Well, tbh. The last thirty days I've sailed RU ships in about half my games. Sometimes you get primaried like hell, sometimes ppl just completely ignore you.
In the end, it's been a good school on dodging and positioning in these ships. So I should prolly thank WG for it.

Now, if more ppl would also take out their RU ships we'd all have more targets to shoot at...

Russian ship can be used as strong weapon even without single shot fired. Part of the enemy following like zombies looking for brains. I was one of them. Glad this is over for me.

As starter of his topic, just after the start of the ARP missions when everybody was still complaining about Takao being tier 9, i just finished the ARP Nachi mission. It was not fun, it was not appropriate and it cost me a lot of time. Did I became a better player? No, I changed my style, focused on kills moving to the map were you think the Russians ships are. Ignoring teamplay, only shooting at other enemy players if they are blockading your way towards the needed kill. Must say the number of games (together with my entire stack of dragon flags) did indeed promote 2 of my captains to skill 15 which with concealment skill helped a lot with aforementioned play style. I played so many close encounters with my tier 8 & 9 cruisers that if finished the 500 secondary hits almost at the same time as Nachi. 500 secondary hits with cruisers only..

Still finished a month in advance but the main problem of this mission is the unreliability of progress, I had 7 kills on one day while zero kills during a week. You cannot plan, you cannot influence progress. Its all outside your control. You can improve the odds a bit by playing a lot but thats it. Even today had a player offering 1000 doubloons for  voluntary kill. Spent the entire game doing nothing in a corner waiting for a Kutuzov to show u while broadcasting his location in chat..Did not fire a shot..

It's a bad designed mission.

It was obvious the day it started.

Obvious to all except WG and some elitist players that feel better then the rest because they already have tier 10's ready and like to put extra salt into the wound.

Next month I will play lovely low tier games, not touching tier 8+ with a 10 feet pole. Also because WG wants us to play those tiers I will not.

I completely agree. The mission is bad. Although I don't agree that WG specifically wants us all to play tier 8+ - they just want a balance across all tiers so everyone gets a game basically. But like you I'll be looking forward to some tier 8 avoidance soon!

Honestly, this mission is terrible. And I'm getting pretty confident I'm not going to make it.

After a month of playing almost every day - and almost exclusively tier 8 and 9 ships, I only got 10 Russian kills thus far.

Any mission that requires you to kill specific type of ship or specific nation ships is a terrible design gameplay-wise - it means that people are focusing these types/nations, forcing people NOT TO PLAY THEM.

I mean, from a perspective of a Russian DD or CA captain - what is the point playing before this mission is over? You will be focused by everyone and their mother because you decided to play a "prey species" of the most recent mission. And given that Russian tree has some of the least popular and most specialized ships in the game makes things even worse - as there were not that many of them to begin with.

I finished it yesterday.

While it can be argued that I did finish it with plenty time to spare, the way it works doesn't really fit that. When you can play multiple games with no Soviet ships even in the game, and way fewer with one on the enemy side, and yet fewer where one is targetable, kills come randomly. Oh sure, the actual kills are generally not random, but you can't expect them at any time. This uncertainty means I could have stopped at 19 and for the rest of December not gotten another kill. Unlikely I must admit, but certainly possible. And that means that whenever there is a chance for a kill, you go for it, because you don't know when the next one will present itself.

That sort of last-minute-rush for the entirety is unpleasant, and it should be revised for the future. Heck, even having gotten the required kills I wouldn't be mad if they lowered the requirements now. I would only think "GOOD!". It would reduce this silly situation considerably, and it wouldn't take anything away from me. I would still have my ship. And I would absolutely not think along the lines of "oh next time I won't bother". If this is the sort of mission that gets lowered, then no matter what, that is good. Even at 10 many people wouldn't have it, despite trying. Personally getting to 10 took quite a while, so it's not like I would be lulled into a sense of lethargy in regards to missions like this.

Uninstalled game some days ago thanks to this nonsense. Killed all fun and motivation, nothing but desperate stiff upper lip grind/YOLO rushes days on end while trying get RU kills.

That last push 30.11... whole night/bit morning and got RU kills from 12 to 13. Don't usually see reports popping but managed to get atleast six, guess for reason (insta-leave battle if no RU ships, if RU ship sank etc). Couldn't care less anymore. Then i saw the light, in addition to morning one. Why play a game i don't enjoy anymore because of Nachi mission? Bye-bye warships :red_button:

Some screenshots from time when game was still fun:

https://goo.gl/photos/RqcAn3siJfdBvJSG9

Didn't even sail Yamato once, too busy with Nachi mission (no time for fun and games). Removing screenshot folder at the end of month so won't accidentally drag anyone to this EU server misery.

Wonder if WG has bone to pick with EU playerbase for some reason or are they trying to turn people to Pavlov's grindrats just for shits and gigs?

Well whatever, gl & hf and don't forget to give money to WG so they can really laugh their butts off.

Hmm no need for Premium so guess i'll buy some indie game from Steam. For fun :bajan:

Dear WG since ur support directed me here denying any help please show a heart and alter that mission. I only use Kutuzov now but only have 11 kills after more than 1 month. And all gamers i meet in game are denying to use their russians because they are afraid of being focused. Which...is not true. My Kutuzov is doing fine imo.

So please show a heart for the paying gamer that has a RL and has job to pay for this game.

Greetings.

Don't expect any community representetive from Wargaming to pay attention to it. We are trying for a month now and we get completly ignored.

Well, I still have 3 SN ships to go which should be a doable goal for me until the end of the year.

However, during the last days it came to me that I will mostly likely take a break from WoWS or at least play even less than I did in the last weeks as soon as I will have the Nachi. There was and is just too much frustration, partly on behalf of WG for setting up the mission the way it is, but on the other hand it is also my fault for playing under self-imposed pressure because I want my ARP collection to be complete. Yesterday, this and the gameplay of most of the teams I was part of during the last weeks, ultimatively led to a rant in the battlechat from my side because yet again, while I tried to play the objective in a domination map in my BB and got burned to death from multiple directions, the rest of the team decided to chase an enemy to the edge of the map and were picked apart by flanking enemies.

And since calling people a disgrace to the human gene pool (as much as they deserve it) is not my style and it must not become a habit of mine, I see no reason to feel forced to participate in anything, WG plans for January and maybe beyond. No containers, no missions, no campaigns. Which is, to be honest, a shame. Especially the Nachi mission could have been so much better designed, like: "Kill 20 of SN, RN, Polish, PanAsia. Instead of narrowing it down to 20 SN kills.

Rant over and out.
