The Takao mission requirement has been lowered to Tier VIII. All progress is kept and the ship can now be obtained by completing the mission with a Tier VIII ship or higher!

Wow, nice! :great:

My thanks to everyone who kicked up a fuss about this farce. Isn't the old saying 'The price of F2P is eternal vigilance'? :D

May this be the last time your efforts are needed.

Doubtful, there are many bonfires that need to be lit or lit again, server disperity being the most pressing one.

Now where's my torch...

I did it all on T9, and I got my Takao.

I'm not mad that I didn't wait till it got changed, since I had fun playing with FireRM and Babykim. We had a 16 game win streak on the first day. Today we won like 12 out of 11 games as well.

And the Takao is a great and fun ship - I didn't own the Atago (and still don't) so I'm quite happy with it.

It's simple.

> Be really really good in CVs (so that basically everyone you play against you is worse)

> Play Taiho

> Division with 2 guys that are good

> ???

> Profit

I recently got to Taiho and man, the opponent CVs are of varying skill but the rest? At tier 8 I had to work hard for each torp hit. At IX it's as if everyone ignores my torp bombers until they get a torp warning... What the hell happened there?

I've had for 3 days epic win streaks, now scoring losing streaks:rolleyes:

I guess losing battle in 6min can be considered achievement

oh boy CVs are in a truly dire state

It's not the thread for it (ok, I derailed it earlier too, but still ;) ) however, well. The dire state of CVs can be seen pretty clearly when you look at how, errm, popular they are. That's the problem, not them underperforming (man, I feel like I just can't underperform in Taiho with everyone going on solo cruises with rudder stuck in middle position for half the battle) but them not appearing...

In last two weeks, according to Warships Today, three least played ships on tier 9 are

1. Neptune (~6300 battles)

2. Taiho (~7500)

3. Essex (~7900)

And when you take 1 week span, Neptune has marginally more battles. That's a t9 from a recently introduced (and not well liked) cruiser (most underperforming class currently) line.

But so that we're not cherry-picking. Let's see at last two weeks for tier 10's least played ships:

1. Midway (~1700)

2. Hakuryuu (~2600)

3. Minotaur (~6200)

So a tier 10 from recently introduced cruiser line has more battles than both t10 CVs TOGETHER. And not marginally more - it's 6200 to 4300.

And, for comparison - Yamato has ~30500 battles, Shimakaze: ~27300. So, over 7 Yamatos and over 6 Shimikazes for each CV.

If there was a bug in t10 MM that only allowed Yamatos, Shimikazes and CVs into battles - it would still be short of CVs to get the average of 1 CV per team per battle :P

Thank you Wargaming Europe for listening to the community.
Tier 8 is far more manageable for most players and it ought to save them tons of headaches for having to rush to Tier 9.

Who knows, it might even boost the sales of premium ships.

I am at Tier 7 mostly and i want to grind towards the NoCal and ultimately get the Iowa, but having to rush that in order to obtain Takao would have made that process a lot less fun for me and probably would have made me more hesitant to go into tier 9-10 games in the future.

As for the whole skill thing, I personally hope that people with who don't know how to play Heavy Cruisers will either learn the hard way and try to improve or get frustrated and move on to other ships that suit them better.

I had no real idea how to properly play the Atago at first, so after a few "Deletes" at the hands of battleship captains due to my incompetence i decided to grind the IJN Cruiser tree in order to get a better grasp of it.

Still don't, so needless to say my Atago will be collecting dust until i git gud. :P

Playing the Takao will have to wait until then as well i guess.

Hi guys (and girls).

We reviewed the great amount of feedback you provided in regards to using a tier IX ship for the Takao mission. After doing so, we decided that it is actually a reasonable request, and changed the mission to include tiers 8-10, instead of 9-10. This is not something we'd usually do, but in this particular case we may have pushed the requirement a bit too far, especially considering this is the last run of ARP missions ever. We want everyone interested to have the 2 months to get the ships.

All progress should have been kept.

We hope you'll enjoy the change and now do your best to get the ship :) It's a lovely tier 8, we hope you'll enjoy it.

Keep on rowing,

Thanks a lot for this. I realise I have used some harsh words both in this and the other thread, but I did have strong feelings about this. A T8 requirement for a T8 ship makes total sense, and I want to thank you for this change. I can be very sarcastic, but I really mean this.

That being said, I do have two other questions. Why does EU always have to do it different to other servers? And why does the community always have to make a giant shitstorm about it before we can have a sensible solution? (Bundles, Kamikaze R, secondary module, now this)

People like to throw the word "entitlement" around because it has negative connotations. However, this isn't a case of entitlement. This is a continuation of a long chain of events where WG EU are abusing their position at pretty much every opportunity. If I were acting "entitled", I would demand privileges handed to me for little reason beyond simply wanting benefits. However, what's actually being asked for is fair and equal treatment regarding how content is managed in different regions. WG EU has a right to do whatever they want - yes. But to push the limit beyond what's reasonable pretty much guarantees that someone will complain about it - which is the right of the consumer. When people throw accusations of "entitlement" instead of providing sound counter arguments, they are pretty much resorting to ad hominem tactics in order to shut people up.

That last part was sort of a disclaimer for what I said, I didn't want people to misunderstand me as in I want them to quit or do whatever. #DifficultiesOfNon-nativeSpeakers

I'm all for voicing your opinion, especially in a forum. And thanks to you and others, we got what we wanted. Cheers!

I dont understand what your thought process is

...you start with the true statement of ppl not wanting play tier9 and 10 then you are asking the question so why  do u want tier 8...lol

its like you are saying

ok I see you dont like these juicy oranges and lemons but I dont understand why you dont like this pineapple ..

.... who the hell said anything about pienapples-T8? maybe we like pineapples T8  and we will eat them forever

The only way to keep away from those awful tier 10 battles is to play max tier 7 ships, isn't it?

Thanks for reducing the requirement to tier 8, I now feel more comfortable. :)

Guys,

sorry if this was already answered, i´ve read the first few and the last page.

Does the Takao have the exactly same parameters as the Atago, including heal?

Mostly. She has slightly worse stealth, as she can't mount any camo. Guns, hitpoints, speed, ruddershift time, and all that stuff are exactly the same, including modules and modifications.

Still decent T8 CA even with only 10 Point captain.
