Operation PEDESTAL

HMS_Eagle.jpg
Sure enough, we're all aware how much you hate carriers, and how much you love them. Therefore, to each his own! The former will have a chance to let all your frustration out (let it gooo!), the latter will have opportunity to master CV defence. We want to let you enjoy this game in a different way, not to mention awesome rewards! Standing idle behind islands, shooting from blueline and smoking absolutely everything will prove ineffective.

We encourage you to participate!

1. Tournament schedule

- teams can begin registering on 31.10.2016

- registration will end 10.11.2016

- first stage will be held 12.11.2016

- final stage will be held 13.11.2016

- in case when numbers of registered teams exceed our expectations, tournament will be parted on two weekends. Reserve date is 19 – 20.11.2016

Press accounts aren't allowed. Upper limit of teams is 32, however it can't be less then 12. If this number can't be reached, tournament will be cancelled.
Tournament will be organised with training room (mod installation is necessary). Rooms for each round will be created by organisators and each battle will be joined with at least one obesrver from org's. Observer will sail tier 1 ship, which needs to be sunk asap.

2.Team registration

- teams can register only in designated topic.

- teams number 6 players each (obligatory), with 2 reserve players (optionally).

- each participant can only be assigned to one team.

(link to registration topic: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/65414-operation-pedestal-sign-up/)

Form to register your team:

- team name

- captain nick (with hiperlink to profile on forum)

- list of team members (with hiperlinks to profiles on forum; 6 players + 2 reserve players)

We will contact team captains about org's meeting on TS. TS adress: 188.116.54.48

3.Team setups (each team should have both of them):

Attack setup:

- battleship V tier

- battleship V tier/cruiser VI tier (optional)

- cruiser VI tier

- cruiser VI tier

- cruiser VI tier/destroyer VI tier (optional)

- cruiser VI tier/destroyer VI tier (optional)

- only one Royal Navy cruiser is allowed

Defense setup:

- carrier VI – VIII tier

- battleship V tier/cruiser VI tier (optional)

- cruiser VI tier

- cruiser VI tier

- cruiser VI tier/destroyer VI tier (optional)

- cruiser VI tier/destroyer VI tier (optional)

- only one Royal Navy cruiser is allowed

4. Rules of the game

Battles against teams consist of two rounds.

First Round:

Teams will be splitted into Attack and Defence

Attack team's objective is to sink enemy carrier as fast as possible. It's not necessary to sink any other ship.

Defence team's objective is to protect friendly carrier for as long as possible. Will it be escorting and defending carrier, or head's on attack on enemy team – it's your choice! Primary objective – carrier survival!

Now for the best part:

Carrier can't launch any planes. If even one squad will be lifted – team is instantly disqualified. Remember – this tournament isn't about damage, spot, frags – time is most important!

Battles will be held at standard battle mode.

You can sail through enemy base cap, but you can't seize it (in case you cap enemy base – team which capped is disqualified)

Each battle last 20 minutes.

Only one map – New Dawn

Results of each battle will be written down in google docs spread sheet

In case that Attackers team will lose all ships both teams receive 20 minute results.

Each team captain will receive access to Google Docs spread sheet where current results be written.

Second round:

Teams swap setups and play second battle (ie. First round Attackers now plays defence).

Result of the match is decided by adding time of defence with time left till the end of battle on attack. (you need to sink carries asap and defend it as long as possible)

Example:

Team lost carrier in 15:30 when defending and sunk enemy carrier in 6:30 when attacking. Team final score is 15:30 (time in defense) + 13:30 (time left from attack battle) = 29 minutes (overall score of the match from whole round.

In case both teams fail to sink enemy carrier during time of the battle, both teams are disqualified. If this would happen during semi – final or final – whole round is repeated.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Whole tournament will be held during one weekend (saturday – selection matches, sunday semi-finals and finals), unless number of teams will exceed our expectations. Teams must report ready for battle 5 minutes before the start of the battle. In case any of the teams will fail to show, it's disqualified after 10 minutes.

Tournament begins on saturday at 16:00 CET (first battle) 12.11.2016
Second battle begins at 17:00 CET on saturday.

In case more rounds will be needed, each next battle will start next hour (ie. 18:00 CET, 19:00 CET etc.)

Semi – finals and finals will be held on sunday at 16:00 CET 13.11.2016

Prize pool:

- First place: Molotov premium tier VI cruiser x 6

- Second place: Anshan premium tier VI destroyer x 6

- Third place: Marblehead premium tier V cruiser x 6

- Fourth place: codes for 3 day's premium account and 2 port slots x 6

Total prize pool equals 100 000 dubloons and is sponsored by Wargaming. Prizes will be awarded to each account up to 14 days after the end of tournament.

We are more then happy to answer each question about tournament in appropriate topic, or on our clan TS:

188.116.54.48

Prize pool might change, but only in plus!!!

After the end of tournament, team captains are obliged to send list of players which should be awarded to org's. If org's will not receive said list, prizes might be witheld.

This had me really interested... until the part where the CV can't launch planes. Guess is due to balance reasons but its really cruel to let a CV in a game then tell him to not have fun!

Why not 2 defensive CVs!, Larger T8 is the no planes variant who needs to live, smaller lets say T6 can actually launch planes for convoy defense, little more historically accurate.

Or... because the Italians and Germans heavily bombed the convoy with land based aircraft (which we cant replicate), what if attackers got some CVs of their own but couldn't move? And could only send bombers no fighters... no that's a dumb idea. Anyway gg & good luck with Pedestal look forward to watching it :)

Well, we did participate in that tournament on RU server, and our wish was to organise similar event for EU players. We wanted to make it as casual as possible, so a lot of teams could participate and enjoy a glimpse of "what could tournaments in WoWS look like". CV's are pretty special case, and require a lot of attention as well as are very skill intense, and, sadly, rare these days. So although I agree with your disapointment, we just want to organise something quick and fun. I encourage you to try to organise a team - games are intense and fast paced, therefore, very enjoyable!

Hey guys,

several Questions for the organizers:

  1. what about ship lists, will they be sent to organizers prior to opening the training room?
  2. who will be host/creator of training room, attacker or defender?  My point is to prevent change of chosen ships at the last moment to better match opponent's ships.
  3. who is responsible for choosing exact time of sinking the carrier, streamers?
  4. how many teams were registered so far?

thanks for this initiative,

celeb2k

Hi,

I'll answer some questions right now, and get back to you later with answers for those that I need to confirm.

who will be host/creator of training room, attacker or defender?  My point is to prevent change of chosen ships at the last moment to better match opponent's ships.

The host/creator of the room will be some from the orgs. We're recuiting few "volunteers", which happily will organise training room for each team. How we will deal with "swapping" lists is open for debate. We didn't encounter such problem on RU server, however you're right, and we will come with solution - which already will answer question 1.

who is responsible for choosing exact time of sinking the carrier, streamers?

Each battle will have it's observers, volunteers or streamers, therefore exact time will be known immediately.

how many teams were registered so far?

7 from PL section, and 1 from ENG section.

Swapping is't a problem in this tournament. We cant make ship list coz even with 16 teams it will be massive

Each team will pick side once as a defender or attacker.

I wanted to ask a question in regards to rewards. What happens if your team finishes first for example and the reward is Molotov and you already have a Molotov in your port? Will you recieve doubloon compensation or credits compensation? If its credits, is there a posibility to get for example Anshan instead of Molotov as reward?

Thanks in advance for the answer.

thanks for finally organizing 1st official tournament ran/sponsored by WG - since our team will swap two players is it possible to reward these guys with at least 50% of prize?

e.g. in case of first place, 5 players will receive Molotov but our 6th and 7th player would be rewarded in doublons 2k each or are there only codes which will be distributed?:)

Today at 8PM CET visit https://www.twitch.tv/izolate where we are going to generate tournament brackets.

HMAS Perth has been banned from the tournament, since as a new premium ship we can not determine its effect on the gameplay.

During the final match a MVP will be picked by streamers and organizers and he or she will be awarded HMAS Perth.

Good luck to all the teams and captains :great:

It is especially nice to see a CA oriented event.

With so little love in randoms at least they can thrive in competitive environment.

Looking forward to tons of fun and exciting matches

Um, we didn't set streaming schedule right now, cause we don't really have guarantee that said team will appear, so in order to avoid changing schedule, we will let you know who is streaming which game, when we will have 100% certainty that this game will be indeed played :D

Very interesting games to watch, wp to all teams and captains :medal:

Very different dynamics compared to Cup matches, so it was quite refreshing.

It shows that with a few well defined scenarios or modes there can be a huge variety in WoWs.

Once again congrats to all and thanks to organizers and streamers.
