Dear WG please consider adding "Repair Party" (heal) to Tier VII "Premium" cruiser "Atlanta"!

Maybe just move it down a tier + Preferential matchmaking? Always seemed really odd to me that it's at tier 7 given what it can do.

I kind of think most cruisers could do with a heal. Just extend what they did on tier 9 and 10, down to say at least tier 6.

I think Tier 7 is perfectly okay for this ship and the current tree makes her a viable CL alternative to Pepsicola which is a CA. Not sure about the preferential MM as I rarely saw Tier IX ships with Atlanta, and I think I played as division when I met such enemies.

In her current state she would totally wreck T6 ships, especially if you manage to get into a T4-6 game. Just imagine what she could do to those Clemsons and Izyaslavs who find themselves against USN radar. Even if you remove radar, her sheer amount of shells would just wreck those lower tier ships.

You seem to have not been playing since 4 big patches, becouse from patch 5.9 (we hav 5.13) you can't get to tier 6 match with tier 4. While she would faceroll on t5-6, she suffers so much being uptiered if you dont have dd with you in division. She can't tak hits but she doesn't have smoke. It's glasscannon, but you can't kill trade your life for enyone else life if you don't have hp/terrain advantage. Very situational and 100% dependant on the how much noob enemies you face. Atlanta needs a division with smoke ship to have good  game, then it really shines (like flint with it's own smoke). Radar is not super usefull if you don't have support to kill enemy dds, becouse at ~8km range all your shells can be dodged by dds (arcs wtf?). Everything she does is done better by Belfast now.

Hi all,

Very recent Reddit thread:

Belfast vs. Atlanta, or "Is there any reason to get the Atlanta after Nov 4 on NA?"

Let's do a quick comparison between the Atlanta and the Belfast, which are both T7 CL's which have many similar traits.

Atlanta > Belfast:

  1. Turret traverse (7.2s vs 25.71s)
  2. Rate of fire (12 shots/min vs 8 shots/min)
  3. Number of guns (8x2 = 16 guns on Atlanta, though only 14 broadside vs 4x3 = 12 guns on Belfast)
  4. Has torpedos, but with short range (4.5km)
  5. Better long-range AA (120 dps @ 5 km vs 71 dps @ 5km)
  6. Smaller turning circle (610m vs 680m)
  7. Better rudder shift (8.4s vs 9.6s)
  8. Slightly better concealment (10.7 km vs 11 km) (EDIT: This is in the vanilla version, the Belfast drops to 9.9km with the concealment upgrade)
  9. Has access to unlimited defensive fire [!!!]
  10. Can train American captains
  11. 127mm guns are affected by BFT and AFT, which increases the DPS and range (out to 13.3 km)

Belfast > Atlanta:

  1. Citadel armor (114mm vs 89mm)
  2. Fire chance [!!!] (9% vs 5%)
  3. HE/AP damage (2100/3100 vs 1800/2100)
  4. Shell speed [!!!] (841 m/s vs 792 m/s) ==> Much better shell arcs, in my opinion
  5. Has secondaries (meh, not really a big deal)
  6. Better close-in AA (140 dps @ 3.5 km vs 55 dps @ 2km)
  7. Has access to smoke [!!!]
  8. Way more health [!!!] (35700 hp vs 27500 hp)
  9. Can train British captains
  10. Has access to T8 upgrade slot [!!!] (thanks to /u/nekolas564 for pointing this out)
  11. Has much better range [!!!] (15.4 km vs 13.3km upgraded by AFT)

Belfast = Atlanta:

  1. Same speed (32.5 kts)
  2. Same role
  3. Likely same cost in doubloons
  4. Both have the same radar

[!!!] denotes quantities I think are very important.

Considering all of this, after Nov 4, is there any reason to get the Atlanta rather than the Belfast? If they are the same cost, the Belfast seems to be a far, far superior ship. I can only think of picking up the Atlanta if you desperately want an American captain trainer.

Suggestions, thoughts, and disagreements desired!

Note, Atlanta broadside AP DPM without BFT is (12 shots/min/gun)(14 broadside guns)(2100 damage per shell) = 352,800 DPM. With BFT, this increases to 388,080 DPM. The Belfast broadside AP DPM is (8 shots/min/gun)(12 broadside guns)(3100 damage per shell) = 297,600 DPM. This could be seen as a considerable decrease, but I will bet that the better shell arcs and larger shell result in greater effective DPM for the Belfast.

Dear WG, please just buff the entire US CA line. They have been rock solid at the bottom of all stats since the invention of the wheel. In case you argue they have superb AP, maneuverability, AA and all other insignificant crap, just check their stats again. If it's fine for almost a entire line to have their ships at the bottom of the stats pile, then please just never ever release a single US CA again and advice players who want their vessels to be anywhere near competitive to either 1) skip directly to the Des Moines 2) Go and play RU CA's.

I don't want a heal on my Atlanta, it would be far to circumstantial. if you messed up to the point where you need it, you need to change tactics.

However, since we're considering improvements, I would prefer to have access to the T8 Concealment module. The same the Belfast already has.

I would say -2km concealment buff would be a better solution as lets say +15000 Hp with repairs, it would help her greatly to have a jump on other ships.

Actually I consider the Atlanta the easier ship to play :hiding:

HI all,

The "Radar" buff was the only buff they planned for the "Atlanta"... nothing more is in work...

Reddit "DEV Q&A, Round 6"

Are there any plans at all to buff "Atlanta"?

P.S. There was info few months ago that "Atlanta" will be buffed somehow but that devs do not know how yet (and there was only Radar added to her some time afterwards)...

Adding radar was the buff we were talking about. She is absolutely fine since then. No firther buffs are planned.

How about more range to guns? Around 15 with aft would be good. And option to choose smoke over radar would be good.

Atlanta has always had +2 MM, tier 9 is just the least populated tier in the game. Since a few updates ago there are no unique ships in regards to limited MM spreads. The only unique MM thing of any kind now is that Mikasa counts as a cruiser; she still meets tier 3, just can't stand-in for a missing tier 3 BB on her team anymore.

Heal - no please.

On other side access to T8 upgrade slot (as belfast) would be nice.

Really nice would be special MM rule for "dedicated" AA ships (Atlanta,Yubari...., and no: NC and DesMoines are not those) that will, if possible, put them in battles where CVs are present.
