I wish i had stayed in the fiji(t7) till i got CE on my captain. That extra stealth missing in t8 is making me uncompetitive and a painful experience versus back of the map t10 bb snipers.

If anything its that inability to dodge focused salvoes when spotted, hence CE a must.

And considering how good the smoke is on the kutezov, why the need for such a half assed smoke ability, plus very slow deceleration/reverse speed? Bearing in mind i havent tried t9/t10 rn ships which may or may not be stronger in those areas.

I just recently tried this line out and have the tier4 danae now, its a nice ship but indeed made of paper, the guns are average and the lack of he shells makes this ship a weak ship. I have tried all of the cruiser lines but if i feel like this already on tier4 i dont know if i will continue grinding the line. The only thing what is good on this ships is concealment.

I am having rather enjoyable matches in my Royal Navy cruisers so far, although I do get killed a lot. Learning how to to tread the fine line between derring-do and caution is a challenge.

One point of note is that I haven't found much use for the heal consumable, so far - most of the damage I receive is from AP shot, which is, as far as I can determine, largely irreparable. Or maybe I am missing something?

I have currently advanced as far as the Danae. Based on what I've gathered from the opinions on this forum - i.e. that the Royal Navy cruisers begin to come into their own from tier VI and onward - I am considering jumping past the Emerald at tier V with free xp, and getting the Leander at once. Would that be a good idea?

Same here but if your burning you can let it burn out or burn for a while keeping the repair back. Heal seems pretty good on burn damage.

Good choice. Seems your not made for this line of ships.:great:

100% as usual

Got 6 kills in my last Danae match....then bought Emerald.....life sucks.

Tougher MM at T5, that's all. Most nations cruisers at T5 feel like a kick in the guts after heroically owning battles in a T4 cruiser at first. Learn to smoke and even the Emerald will shine like a diamond :hiding:

Bit of an unkind comment, especially so considering he's 100% correct.

Tier 4 is FULL of sealclubbers in BBs who only need 1 hit on you to absolutely cripple you and 2 hits usually equals instant death.  Or they are in DDs spamming torps and HE at you whilst your own 'special' AP is mostly useless against them (and indeed even more useless against BBs) and, whilst the Danae's acceleration is awesome, it turns like a cow so dodging shells and torps is unnecessarily difficult.  Nor is the concealment that great, because the maps are so damn small.

The only thing I see going for it is the 2x3 torpedo launchers with single shot capability.

So yeah, it's not a great ship.

I'm looking forward to getting past it (and then the Emerald too, based on what I hear).

Please do not consider the following as some kind of critics about your combat achievements, but as a base for a differing opinion.

Danae

Krazypenuin - 50% winrate / 10.922 average damage / 0.20 average kills/battle / 39% hitrate guns / 7% hitrate torps

Deckeru_Maiku - 64% winrate / 23.375 average damage / 0.75 average kills/battle / 33% hitrate guns / 8% hitrate torps

Deckero_Maiko - 60% winrate / 35.558 average damage / 1.40 average kills/battle / 32% hitrate guns / 9% hitrate torps

So I played against the same sealclubbing BBs. My Danae had the same "turnrate like a cow" and I ended up on the same small maps.

Nonetheless I got a higher winrate over more battles and did twice respectively three times the damage that You did.

So of course I do have a completely different view of the ship in question.

And of course I think, that someone who doesn't get good results in this ship - in which even I as a quite average, though experienced player - can get them, might be not made to play it (or the ones follwing it, which have a comparable style of play).

started the RN line,

got too T3, two games, game 1, one hit, dead, game 2, one hit dead, game started i was done within 30sec of the start, i was still out of range to use the guns,

now i,ve dumped the whole line, got 3 empty port slots,

the RN line is the biggest pile of crap, in a very, very, poor game,

i,ll be glad when people stop paying for this utter garbage WG company money, for been "ripped off"

its a re-run of World of Warplanes

Fiji and Edinburgh are awesome! I do think the lower tiers are very tricky but they do teach you caution - and once you get the Fiji, it is payback time! :izmena:

Danae is okay'ish, if you know how to survive in a ship with tinfoil armour.

Emerald is where the real fun begins.

And Leander can be a real beast.

Guess it even gets better after that, but I like it at T5 with most of my ships. When I play T8 ships I too often find very passive gameplay when getting dragged in T9/10 battles. Lower tiers offer more interesting battles..

Slowly grinding the RN cruiser line. Just reached the Emerald. I loved the Danae because she was fast and agile. Played her like a big US destroyer or like the Tenriu. That ship felt hard to hit. The Emerald feels slower and more sluggish. Slower accelerating, slower stopping, wider turn radius, shift time etc. If a buff to the Emerald came along I would love more agility.

I've been playing the Edinburgh. Absolutely love it!!!! Even the matches we lose I have great fun. You cannot stop thinking for a second. You can deal huge amounts of damage by constantly firing. I'm hovering around the 70% win rate and 60k damage. But that doesn't tell the full story of this ship. Its an area denial boat. DDs dont want to know when you are about and if they do they die very quickly. Mean while BBs see you as an easy target and so concentrate on your while the rest of the team is capping.

One match yesterday we were a ship down and 2 caps to 1 down. 4 BBs and a DD decided to follow me north west to take me down. While they did that the rest of my team as a single fleet tore back through the mid cap with little resistance. By the end of the match I was still alive, had killed the DD and 2 BBs and the rest of my team turned up to help with the remaining 2.

So although she might not have HUGE numbers, in the right hands she becomes a major player in the match and can turn games just by being in the right place.

Oh and the 9km detection I have on her really helps my play style. Once the DDs are dead, I become the teams DD for capping and spotting. Not sure I want or need to head to the Neptune :)

AND ANOTHER WTF?!?!?

I cant believe it :(:( 140k damage, I took on half the team by myself and still capped. The rest of the fleet went to c (we agreed B but only one DD joined me then fled and left me alone). The team on C despite having a 2 to 1 advantage died or sailed to the edge of the map and stayed there. I had 4 BBs 2 Cruiers and 1 DD all to myslef and I took 2 with me...140k damage and finished top of my team by over 1000.....but we still LOST. I dont care mt WTR, I dont care my XP, I dont care where I come in the team...I care about winning and its just not going to happen today :(:(:( I havent even got my daily win bonus on her yet lol.

So so so bad.

Just had my first few games in Neptune - the number of shells it throws out is astounding! Still getting the hang of it - quite a bit bigger so an easier target but much nicer to play than the Baltimore!

Sorry, realise that....i meant the losing streak not the Edinburgh.

I had a 10 game losing streak in mine, while going for last 5 takao wins, wasn't fun. some real facerolls too...

And yet I still survived most of those games, even as last ship and losing on points, and made the winning players pay. I think in a team which supports and spots for you, it's one of the most important ships in the team. sold mine for the Neptune and wish I hadn't  when I've built up the credits again I'm rebuying

I would mention in guide that premium smoke is highly recomended for RN (one more smoke and just around 1min windown between smokes).

In your defence I think you're saying that people who have bad experiences of a ship will tend to hate the ship and that this doesn't necessarily reflect a players ability but rather their opinions will be coloured by their actual experience. This is certainly true for me. Also if a ship doesn't have a play style you like naturally you won't like the ship.

When I played Danae I had bad experiences. So naturally I skipped her and Emerald. Perhaps at some point I should go back - try the torp boat tactic and see if I get results. I still think that generally the ship is weak - but played "a certain way" can get results. I don't like that certain way though :)

Sums up my feelings exactly.  I've been struggling to find the words to say this in several posts, but failed miserably. You, OTOH have explained it beautifully.:honoring:
