Doesn't sound that promising so far, super testers were saying the line wasn't really competitive until tier 7, are people seeing the same? (if they have got that far)

Yep, my russian Imperator will poop on some of his majesty's ships the coming weekend.

Generally speaking it is sad that there is little hope the new line might end the battleship plague though.

I've had one game in my Minotaur and it seems alright but can get absolutely wrecked even from the front by a Hindenburg. But my advice is to just play them like atlantas but even more cautiously. And even though your using ap all the time don't expect many citadels....

They can be competitive lower tier but it's a lot harder and you have to think differently playing them. From tier 7 up I found (after my experience lower down) that the ships are good. And fun.

You'll never win a fair fight with another cruiser so don't make it fair!

Yea I did this already and got all my flags for the day. It is just exploiting people not knowing the new ships tho so I'll stop doing it. If a RN cruiser gives you a decent shot he's probably dead. So far the best RN players have simply not given me that shot. The best play I saw was two emeralds in big race in the islands swapping smoke and hydro. On my team. We won that

I am sorry to say, but so far they seem terrible....

Since I am all for sound opinions and all I just checked:

After a couple of games the Caledon as highest Tier you played is better than every other T3 Cruiser u ever touched and en par with your St.Louis.

So.......... expectation is what? 50k average on T3?

At T4 right now, but so far I am not impressed. Damn AP shells bounce all over, you can deal some damage only when shooting at full broadside ships.

Just got the Tier 6 on my other account still too early yet but already thinking of dumping the line, first 5 ships where pretty much garbage.

I think once people get used to playing against them those cruisers will be by far the worst performers, they literally aren't useful against anything any class of ship with even a slight angle can migrate almost all your damage out put, even DD can probably out tank you which is pretty funny.

May I be the voice in the wilderness and just mention that I am enjoying them immensely. T4 & T5.

Hint: The plane is a far greater asset than the smoke (IMHO); the smoke is quite limited in area and really was of no help to me.

In my humble opinion the t4 is the worst ship in the line. You can do damage to angled ships but you have to aim a lot higher to get the shells to land on the deck. Good luck if the ship you're shooting has no superstructure (kawachi imperator). Just avoid those. Danae is best played as a torp ambusher and not really a gunboat unless you're fighting a light cruiser or dd.

Won't lie though. Danae is (to me) a rage inducing bad ship. But she can be made to succeed.

Well, for starters and since you brought it up, I met a St. L in it and I did not feel at the same level. At all.

My nagging feeling is that when faced with other ships of the same tier it will be very sub par.

If you asked my WHY I felt that way I might have answered you in a more full way, but instead it is the usual "check the stats so I can find out if I can attack for something", and it is soo boring.

This and if everything else fails and you just suck balls in her, play her like a supersized DD. Never ever show your sides to anything. Your citadel is larger than a Yamato. This is true for most of the line btw except maybe the Leander. Don't fall for wanting to fire all of these nicely parcelled out peashooters along the full length of your hull simultaneously. It's a trap. Be sneaky and cheeky. Hide behind islands and look for opponents that are already engaging other ships. Remember you are quite agile. Most BB's have horrible turret rotation speed at these tiers. Rush them head on. You accelerate from zero to full speed in the blink of an eye and you turn on a dime.  You are thin as a needle from the front. When they hit you they will citadel you regardless of your angle so at least it's better than taking full broadsides on your side. Use your excellent torp angles when wiggling your ship and let off both sides in quick succession. You probably won't survive but at least you might take some of them with you (yes, I got that from Starwars).

Believe me. If i wanted attack you because of your stats it would have read different.

But I am sorry. Won't mention facts again. Majority seems to hate that stuff.

Here we go again, you just can not help yourself, can you?

It is about facts, and we will soon enough have stats on the new ship line. I can bet quite a lot on them being worse then previous cruiser lines, but maybe you think otherwise?

My exp so far:

Leander tier 6 - not bad, done quite decent damage.

Fiji - actually found harder, though not many games on each.

But so far, this seems like exactly what everyone was asking them NOT to do - make a specialist, gimmicky line that had to be played a certain way, and that average players would struggle with. Wargaming refuse to treat Brit lines like they do other nations, first in WOT, now in WOWS.

These CLs are described as DD hunters - i'm a decent cruiser player, avg 55% win ration for cruisers, and I am not finding them easy at all. Mainly the arcs - they're terrible, you cannot be a DD hunter with shells this slow. Russians are far better DD hunters. If a DD comes near a Russian cruiser it won't last long. If these are supposed to be DD hunters the arcs need a buff.

Against BBs - mixed bag. Broadside - you can deal heavy damage, great. No problem there. But no fires, which give cruisers huge amount of dmg against BBs, and if the BB is bow on, or at the end of your firing range, you often deal zero dmg. I must have hit a NC in this situation about 30 times, for zero damage. Then he went broadside and started landing dmg again. With HE, at max range would have dealt far more damage and fires.

Smoke - i don't know about other people but sitting in smoke firing is not that fun, because the enemy cant shoot you back. It feels like cheating. Of all the nations to choose a hide in smoke style for, the Brits should literally be the very last. Their cruisers countless times attacked much more powerful opponents, often to the point of stupidity. Brit lines should be ultra aggressive style. Instead, we sit in smoke.

I havent played enough games to give a proper view on these ships, but so far, pretty meh... I just wish WG could stop doing weird crapto Brit lines. The Russians, of course, have fantastic cruisers. The contrast with reality is a little embarrassing.

Rush them head on?!?! You have got to be bloody kidding? Have you even checked to see what the armor is like on these garbage scows? Anything, even a DD gets within 8km of you and your in trouble. Oh and just in case you didnt know....angling makes NO difference either. The only way to have a good game in these crapheaps is if the entire enemy team is shooting at someone else. And yes I really dont like these RN ships one bit, and yes Ive only got to T4, but from what Ive read so far they dont get any better regardless of tier.
