OH REND ENS is an anagram of HENDERSON, the airfield Airfield Hime represented in her first appearance. A GAUNT GOOK is an anagram of KONGOU-GATA, or Kongou-Class. Two of the Kongous (Hiei and Kirishima) perished in the waters around Henderson Field. Pretty smart of the songwriter to work these references in the way they did.

There is a PSV version, but good luck finding an English patch.

On the other hand I'd suggest watching Zero first.

First because you will miss tons and tons of reference in UBW if you didn't watch Zero, as clearly ufotable referenced its past work.

Second no matter if you watch UBW or Zero first, you will get spoiled anyway. So how about just watching the chronological order ? UBW is the direct continuation after all.

 

Well, Zero insane plot makes it my favourite anyway.

At the risk of turning this into a debate into the correct order of watching an animated series of a franchise that is massive and difficult to break into for a newcomer:

1) Is Fate a TypeMoon property or ufotable's?

References missed can be re-examined post-watching Zero. Gives the viewer a reason to go back and review what is arguably the best route in all of Fate (there are only 3, so take your pick, I personally like both UBW and HF for different spoilery reasons).

2) The fact that Zero is a prequel immediately negates the argument of 'UBW spoils Zero'. It's a given fact that UBW spoils the ending of Zero by existing. Zero, however, spoils something from Heaven's Feel that was played as a major plot point. A plot point that I, having seen the 2006 anime before playing the game, completely missed out on the 'WHAM' factor of. This is a fact that saddens me greatly. (I literally reacted to the scene with "Huh, that's suddenly rele- Oh, yeah. Not supposed to know that yet.")

3) Insane plot? That was insane to you? I've seen worse mind-f*cks.

Alternatively: He can start with Fate/Extra or Fate/Extella and not bother with /Stay Night or /Zero.]

The original Visual Novel was made by Type Moon. But they aren't an animation studio, they're a game studio.

 

Ufotable did the adaptation of Fate/Zero (which wasn't a VN, it was first a novel supervised by Nasu - creator of the Fate universe - and written by Gen Urobuchi) and the adaptation of the second route of the VN : Fate/Stay Night : Unlimited Blade Works.

And right now they're doing the adaptation of the third and last route of the VN in form of film : Fate/Stay Night : Heaven's Feel.

 

Studio Deen did the first route back in 2006. That was bad. Like really really bad.

Fate/Stay Night (and associated spin-offs) is an IP belonging to TYPEMOON.

ufotable is responsible for doing the animated adaptations of the Prequel 'Fate/Zero' and two of the routes available in the original game - Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven's Feel (HF is in production at the moment).

Do not ask me who did the 2006 anime or the 2009 (?) movie as I do not know.

The prequel is more closely associated with writer Urobuchi Gen of Nitroplus, rather than being written by Kinoko Nasu of TYPEMOON.

There are other spin-offs being brought to us by other writers and creators, Fate/Apocrypha (light novel, currently airing as an anime from A-1 studios), Fate/Grand Order (Mobage from delightworks, has an animated OVA), Fate/Prototype (based on the original draft for Fate/Stay Night which has a lot of differences), Fate/Strange Fake (I don't even know...), etc.

 

It's a huge thing.

So I noticed no one posted anything here last weekend, and I decided that we should definetly have some more pictures (totally not about to brag about something)

Some of the discord members probably know what is coming, yet Id like to farm some more salt in different places, after all, variety is key to a healthy diet.

Yesterday, I decided to do an LSC, cant remember the recipe, did it on my tablet, something random with 7000 baux and 20 mats...

Sorry to chime in a bit off-topic, but I don't really think the Studio Deen 'Fate/Stay Night' adaption is particularily bad. It simply had nowhere near the production budget that Ufotable had for 'Unlimited Blade Works' for example. Plus it adapted the Fate (Saber) route which is a rather by-the-books plot and simply pales in comparision to the more dynamic UBW and HF plot routes (or the Fate/Zero novel). It's simply a bit less interesting by default and Studio Deen couldn't exactly polish it with generous animation and art supplements because they didn't have quite as much of a budget.

 

Now, the Studio Deen movie adaption of the UBW route ... THAT was really, really bad!

 

'Fate/Apocrypha' is also very much showing how it's based on what was initially a draft for a videogame (I mean, that main protagonist is so friggin' bland it just screams generic player character #172) ... plus I'm not particularily impressed with A-1 Pictures as a production studio anyway after what they did with 'Gate' but that's a rant I already did in another forum thread.

 

Now, for a bit more on-topic: the true husbando and waifu of Fate!

There's that, indeed.

 

But Deen also failed to make the show interesting. They butchered it with horrible sound effects (seriously, just take a random fight scene, the SFX are sooooooo bad. Code Geass did much better and that was the same year) and their overall adaptation was very bland. Overall they did an anime for those that already played the VN, which makes it a fail in my book.

 

Fate/Apocrypha is coming from a Light Novel. I kind of like it honestly, but mostly because for me the MCs are Mordred and Shishigou.

 

I do agree that Scathach is waifu.
