Trying to clear the event as a new player is frustrating to say the least (HQ level 43, highest level ship is Akagi at 51, haven't unlocked 4th fleet nor extra dock spaces yet). The level of attrition I'm suffering in terms of fuel and bauxite is tremendous, while steel and ammo are both sitting at over 10k. Wish I could trade some.

 

Also at E-3 atm. Haven't made much of a dent in TP count despite numerous runs.

Are you running Transport Fleet? In our cases its safer to run Carrier Task Force

My setup is: Mutsu (2 main guns 1 recon plane 1 AP shell), Fuso (2 356mm 1 BBV Recon plane, 1 AA gun) Akagi, Kaga, Hiryu, Souryu (Loaded for 250 Air Power, the rest torpedo spam)

2nd fleet: Kitakami (Miget sub and 155mm secondary gun) Ooi (same), Yuudachi (Night cut in 3x torpedo), Fubuki (1 main gun, 2 drum canisters), Tone (2x 203s, 1 recon plane, 1 searchlight), and Yahagi (ASW setup, 2 sonars and a Depth charge)

All from levels 30-45 (Max Kai for lv etc. etc.)

getting around 29 off TP per run, sometimes S rank, sometimes A. Quite a few Taiha's and re-runs, but Im managing.

Are you using support expeditions?

Seem to get [edited] over by RNGesus more often than not, during E-2 I had to cancel several runs in a row because every time some surviving DD would torp my flagship into red.

(Also particularly memorable was a CVL which got shot down to 1 hp by the opening air strike, then survived because everyone proceeded to miss).

Seem to have hit a lucky streak and managed to clear several runs in a row, shaving off 27 TP each. High resource consumption remains a problem, however. Honestly not sure if I can even reconstitute plane reserves after my next sortie. Maybe time to suspend my run and go expeditions only for a few days, but I'm not sure if I can clear the event with that much time lost. Really want Ark Royal. T_T

For new players, do not even try to set a goal of beating the maps or the event it self.

In stead look up the different event maps and see what kind of rare ships drop at what nodes, and then go after those ships.

 

Cause having the right ships and having them leveled can make a huge different for the next event.

Simply put, the first 1 or 2 event most players might not complete, depending on it size and difficulty, and summer tends to be the largest events and sometimes also the hardest.

So just focus on preparing for the next on instead, will save you a lot of trouble.

 

Also, with regards to getting 3 or 4 fleet, getting the kongou sisters and so on to unlock those is easier in event, as they have a good drop rate there, so really take advantages of the drops instead of worrying about finishing.

Owh definetly not going for completion here Im a casual scrub player anyway. Its just that everyone is constantly like; you need 50K resources to do easy mode, you need kai-ni destroyers. I was like, meh, how hard could it be. So sure, I need to get my comps exactly right, and sure, I get sent back quite alot. But I started the event with 13K everything (my res cap), now Im on 9k, havent even been sending expeditions or orel cruising. Buckets have gone from 130-111.

But it adds a lil chance. And it has saved me a few times from CVL getting bombing runs on poor Yuudachi all the time.

Don't really listen to those. Easy difficulty can be done with most ships. And most event's last for enough weeks that you can take advantage of passive resource generation as well as doing a bit of stockpiling on the side line.

What I mostly meant was that as a new player, you might get better rewards from farming rare drops than trying to beat the event.

 

Ofcourse, if you can do both, you deffinetly should.

Oh, well, no I don't. Constantly out gathering resources to keep the war machine alive. Should probably give it a try, though.

 

Still a couple of weeks to go. I'll just see how far I get before worrying about farming rare ships.

I'm trying to beat E-4 atm.

 

But I'm at 30 buckets, and each run cost 4 to 6 of them, so it's kind of hardcore right now. I'm at the Last Dance (easy ofc), okay in term of ressources, and I want taht goddamn Richelieu, but RNG doesn't love me.

Yesterday three try : got Taiha at node M, then left the boss at 300 HP after the NB, and then, by some miracles I left it at 300 HP before the Night Battle... I try the NB and suddenly Shigure doesn't crit with her torp CI and does 56 damage, and Yukikaze just doesn't bother to trigger hers and miss... I was effin' mad. So mad I actually went to Dark Souls 3 and beat the crap out of the Pontiff Sulyvahn at the first try while he utterly destroyed me before.

I'll try again today twice or thrice. I reeeaaaally hope I can clear that map. I WANT RICHELIEU GODDAMMIT. I went as far as using Mutsu + Yamato in my main fleet and a support boss expedition... 

Also I DID kill that boss two time in the "normal" mode without support exped, so I'm pretty sure I can do it. 

 

I really fear I'm struggling only because my two CAs in the escort fleet are Haguro Kai and Myoukou Kai. I could farm the Kai ni for Haguro as she is lv58, but Myoukou is 35 and the Kai Ni which would allows me to use a torp cut-in is lv70... 

 

Still, I got quite the good drops during the event till now : Ooyodo, Taigei, Noshiro, Yahagi, and Z1 yesterday.

 

@gekkehenkie50 : Etorofu is a DE, she's almost useless at everything besides OASW. They requires very low ASW score to perform a very nasty OASW (60 I think) and are basically only useful on sub-heavy maps, since they have too low HP and armor to do anything else. Very nice for steamrolling over your monthly 1-5, and some special cases. I know some people that cleared the E-1 subs with DE on their fleet.

Thanks, I was really just wondering who else knew her too, or if I was just as incompetent as always .

As for E-4... My highest ships are Mutsu, Yahagi, Akagi and Noshiro, 43,41,41,40 respectively. The rest of my fleet is around the 30~ zone, and if you can't beat E4 with Yamato...

With regards to getting Haguro and Myoukou to Kai NI, at easy it is allmost just as good having a ship at max modernization as it is having them Kai NI.

Sure Kai Ni is great, but if you are lacking time/resources, just making sure that their firepower/armor and torpedo stats are fully modernized is the best thing.

 

A lot of people in the beginning, underrestimate just how important modernization is.

 

Also, the DE are useless due to their very good OASW at low level and thus can be usefull during events with a submarine boos (happened a lot during the last events) and can allow you to free up other CL/DD for other maps.

 

And remember, you still have several week on the event, so keep trying. You can still farm a few more buckets (expedition 2 is very good for this) and then try again.

The thing is, Myoukou Kai Ni get 32 luck. Aka enough to actually use a night torp cut-in on her. While she only have 12 at Kai. Before the event I mostly went for leveling as much DD as I could and at least important CLs and CLT, so Kiso Kai Ni, KTKM Kai Ni, Sendai Kai Ni and Isuzu Kai Ni. Still have Abukuma to do, and I have a whole line up of good and modernized DD at level 30+.

 

Gonna re-try E-4 right now.^^

Looking at your fleet, I would say you have absolutely no use for Yamato.

At easy difficulty all the other BB are good enough. Yamato/musashi is really only needed to reach the damage cap for Hard mode where the enemies have incredible high armor, here at easy, a lot of that firepower is wasted.

I would say you should just put in another BB/FBB and save the large amount of resources that Yamato uses.

 

But that is just my 2 cents.

Honestly I don't care for my ressources, my issue is the buckets.

And any extra firepower is welcome against that £$¤µù% boss.

 

Anyway, I'm sparkling my whole fleet right now. I tried a run today already and I left the boss at 62 HP because I got Myoukou taiha right before the NB and Sendai just at the beginning of it...

And I suddenly noticed I had a type 52 instead of my Ryuusei Kai in my LBAS... since phase 1...
