You could check out So Ra No Wo To if you haven't already. Haven't seen Alderamin of the Sky or the Valkyria Chronicles anime (played the game though) so I can't really comment on those. 

If dystopian Italian special police hunting terrorists counts you could try Gunslinger Girl.

 

 

If you just want to see people blowing other people up with guns I'd recommend Black Lagoon in all its ridiculous glory.

If you want a story about the horrors of war watch Grave of the Fireflies. (Which is actually based on a true story which is even more tragic)

Btw, thanks to my clan influence, I started playing Kancolle yesterday.

Already crafted Zuiho and Chikuma, I'll try to get a BB today.

I have to say, bullying Hatsuyuki is fun. That Hikkikomori need to sortie often with me. xD

Managed to craft a fighter squadron for Zuiho too.

 

I wanted to take Murakumo as a starting ship but I didn't understand the screen and choose the default Fubuki. I'll try to drop her I guess.

Zuiho is starting to become one of my favourite in Kancolle. She's almost my full-time secretary ship. Also she's OP, she's destroying everything in her path, right now she's even two level higher than Kiso (18) which I had since the beginning.

 

And she's kyoot. I love all the random line she says, unlike other shipgirls that are a bit too militaristic. 

 

Crafted Yamashiro today, I kind of like her design too, but she's a bit too much on the siscon side of things. :x

Well, generally any carrier will seem OP at the beginning. When I first got Housho she was a blessing, even with no fighters and only 1 bomber.

 

But keep her an keep leveling her. generally events at times require a few fast light carriers, so zuiho is not a bad one to keep around.

Well, I have 4/5 experienced kancoller in my clan (the reason why I started it btw), and they told me that Zuiho is very strong for a CVL (also I crafted a fighter Type 96 asap for the third slot). I also got Akagi (quest) which is clearly much stronger, but not as fun to use and eat a lot more resources.

Main fleet atm is Zuiho - Yamashiro - Akagi - Isuzu - Maya - Kiso.

Eat quite a lot of resources, but I can tackle anything throw at me for now, and I want to prioritize droppin ships atm. I am at 2-1 now.^^

I would agree with them. Keep Zuiho. Basicly at later stages in the game (though first after several months when you are ready for fleet locks in events) you will most likely need several CVL (especially fast CVL).

CVL truly are usefull, even if they are outshined by their bigger sisters.

Atm i use shigure and yuudachi, kaga(at low level so levelling), I58(first sub so levelling a little bit) Chikuma (low level) and shoho(level 24 i want her Kai) a real strange formation but is more or less cheap and i have to drop haruna for the 4th fleet. i donno why i never drop her. 

my "main fleet" is kongo, yamashiro fuso mutsu akagi and i then i have some prossiblility as chyoda or maya

I'm trying to get my hands on all the Akatsukis because I have a mission requiring to get the four of them to the boss of 1-5. I have 3 out of the 4 atm.

Also I need to level Yamashiro to 20 to kill the boss on 1-5. And drop Akashi.

 

So Fleet #3 is currently Kiso - Isuzu Kai (just upgraded her) - Akatsuki - Hibiki - Fubuki - Inazuma. Leveling them on 1-5 and 1-4 atm, but I'm very shorts on resource today.^^

meanwhile everyone I stumble upon tells me that shouhou sisters are "shitty" with zuihou having a benefit of.... being needed in one quest? or sth? Ryujo gets much stronger with remodels and strongest fact CVLs are chitose and chiyoda....

 

ofc keep her though her sister [shouhou] is still highest level CVL for me [i like Shouhou more than Zuihou]

The shohou sisters are usefull in that they are classified as fast CVL, and therefore can be used in events that require a lot of fleet locking for routing.

 

Other than that, they get outshined later by the other CVL with Kai Ni once you get later in the game. But as a new player, he is far from either situation, so any CVL really works for him.

I'll try to get either Shoukaku or Hiryuu later. Especially Shoukaku, I love her design.

For now, Akagi does the job.^^

 

Right now I'd like to drop the Kongou sisters or the Myouko sisters tho. Just dropped twice Myoukou on 2-2 btw, and I think I'll uses this map for now, it seems good for dropping CA and some BBs.

Also, farming Transports Ships. I have a tons of quest on them.^^

welp shouhou has exacly same slot layout and I see lotta of people complaining xD

also it is not Ryujo kai they were comparing to - but Ryujou kai ni (18-28-6-3) please bear in mind that usually using bombers of any sort in slots lesser than 16 is risky business [easy to loose proficiency levels and they are really big deal in current game status] which means that unless you are wishing to risk deranking bombers ryujou can "safely" fit 2 bomber squadrons [fighter planes don't really care about slot size anymore] while zuihou/shouhou can only fit one like this

but then in the higher level game you do not often really fit CVLs for striking power - they tends to be used as what is called "fighter mules" in which case RJ advantage of slot layout is nullified.

 

and technically all shipgirls are meant to "eventually" receinve K2 ;)
