That sounds.... pathetic? For a company making that much cash of a game, the "rewards" handed out in GI are so little.

Sure, some of the stuff is expensive, but why go for Apple merch for only a few player if you have so many of them.

In DOAXVV we get a free daily 1x10 pull or a coupon for a 1x10 pull, hard to tell before as it depends on how they are doing the banners, if split you get coupon so you pick banner you want if everyone gets thrown in the same banner (that is rare since 22 girls) its a free 1x10 daily.

 

Its not very notable for us because thats kinda standard on collab, seasonal banners and anniversary (including the .5 they started last year), they kinda pull some fast ones like Lobelia that became free on this year half anniversary on week 2 so people that spend their V-Stones on the first part (since 3.3%) got screwed, I kinda was expecting it and was keeping a reserve but I know some people were empty and couldnt properly roll for her.

 

I think companies get stingy the longer a game run, its kinda hard to tell when because at the first anniversary its going to set the tone for the following so they usually dont get too generous, its more in year 3-4 when the playerbase natural decline starts they get more "generous" trying to lure more players in, then they go back to stingy ... at least that is my observation of said events I have experienced.

Mihoyo was always stingy even back in the days of Gun Girlz. The only difference is that with every consequent game they gradually introduced more eye candy to cover up for the lack of rewards, poor drop rates and mind numbing amount of currencies. Sadly it is more or less the same for Venus Vacation, Fate, Honkai and others. Compared to these Azur Lane is literally the gachas equivalent of an oasis in a desert.

There was datamine (?) of free 10pull and some other mild goodies month or two ago, but unlike CNY event, no 4* character select. Whether that is still the case, who knows.

Because Manjuu/Yostar realised that their main revenue stream is in character skins. People won't spend on skins if they can't get the characters, thus they're super-generous with the characters.

I'd say AL is more of a River in a Desert.

And they do decent job at that, as only dramas/complaints besides "gib characters RNGesus" I can remember were rigged halloween fan/loading art contest and about that VA who visited not politically correct shrine?

 

Compared to WG and their monthly fuckup, thats rare occurrence.

Guess if they're really have to go R18 in China, thats big news there.

The shrine wasn't really Yostars fault, but the one of the VA. That some people dug that up after months to make a shitstorm out of it is out of the devs hands.

 

So yeah, from all the companies, they seems to be the safest from drama. Release characters, let the artists make skins and profit.

 

I guess making skins for 3d models is more difficult, but it shouldn't be that difficult that GI only has 2(?) skins atm.

Nah, wanted C2, got to C3. 

C2 is a major damage boost, but she already hits pretty hard at C0 in my experience.

That didn't stopped Honkai team from producing recolors of existing skins. At the same time, if your bank account drowns in money simply from gacha, there is little incentive to spend 3d artist worktime on creating skin for existing character, when he/she might start working on brand new character that probably will dwarf whatever income skin would generate.

C2 is THE big power spike for her, and when you're already down the rabbit hole, c3, for three extra levels on her ult isn't that far off, even more so as it has pretty decent scaling with extra levels

I was going to say that my Baal does seem to be a really good pinch-hitter when sniping things with Amber doesn't get the job done, even at C0, but as I'm a f2p casual scrub with no interest in "the meta" I didn't want to talk about something I had no real perspective on.

Compared to Amber, you'd be hard pressed to find someone who "doesn't get the job done"

 

My biggest pet peeve of Shogun would be artificially made anti synergy with Beidou and somewhat lackluster battery, her supposed gimmick, against single targets. Against mobs, she somehow seems much more effective. Damage without Resolve stacks also leaves something to be desired, to the point my shield bot Zhongli built for hp deals more damage with his pebble than Shogun's initial slash

virgin Electro Archon bonks for just below 41k despite being stacked with all the goodies and is forced to swing her booba sword for 7 seconds dealing Keqing tier damage to justify her supposed "battery" role (lv80, 6/8/8, lv90 Engulfing Lightning, 0 resolve, skill active, 2258atk, 49.3cr 94.3cd, 310%er and 131%electro, 4pc EoSF)

meanwhile chad shield bot Dong casually drops planet for 44k, refuses to elaborate and leaves everyone shielded (lv81, 6/8/8, lv90 Deathmatch, skill active, 1335atk, 63.9cr 121.5cd, 43.8%geo, Archaic+Noblesse)

So I'm lucky that I got her 3 times. I'd have pulled more, if not for a certain fox coming down the line. (Unless she comes in like 2.4/5 )

I know what you mean, but I meant "when I'm forced into actually fighting the opponent, rather than sniping them from a safe distance".

Well, Kokomi is, like Yoimiya, overshadowed by Shogun. And then she was datamined/advertised as "healer", archetype that is already fulfilled by number of lower rarity characters as well everyone (not) favorite 50/50 spook, Qiqi. Alternatively Jean. Off field hydro application is already covered by Mona and Xingqiu.

 

At the same time, my impression of armchair general fish is, she's very chill to play and her hybrid kit doesn't do much for min maxing, but for "you shall not effort" playstyles, I can see her winning hearts of casuals and/or drunkards. Also healer that doesn't require energy to do major healing and can do some damage on the side I can see being useful for coop shenanigans.

 

Sadly, I already have Yoimiya+Zhongli duo for that, bonus points for Shogun adding her own zaps+covering Yoimiya downtime with booba sword for unga bunga brainlet team.

I've tested EM build on Shogun, lets say, Yoimiya triggering two overloads at longer ranges, each for 10k was hilarious. One from main arrow, then follow up from her homing but slow fireworks. If I were to upgrade artifacts to +20 and give Shogun actually upgraded Dragon's Bane for all the additional EM, I guess 13k+ overloads should be possible? Also Kokomi/Mona/Barbara for tazer duo should work nicely

Honesty KC is too much of a hassle to play since you need a VPN to bypass the regional block and language barrier alone is going to be a issue and with AL providing similar but with a much easier entry ...

The event doesn't end until next thursday (30th), the update today is just adding the Dress skins celebrating JP anniversary.

You still have plenty of time to farm points for both Chikuma and Rainbow 610mm Quint.

Kadokawa had what was coming. Inclusive business practices, English translation and more variety in art was all that was needed. Even if Kancolle would have lost ground to Azur Lane due to game design it would have been much slower. That said I do miss Kashimas company. Yostar can really look up to Kancolle in terms of dialogue and especially those sweet hourly ones. It gets a bit weird when Taihou goes full dinner/bath/herself at 5am. Like I have just woken up and am off to work by 6; cant you prepare me some coffee or breakfast like Kashima does?

Not just that but also the option to get that sweet Oooshio skin. Got her raindeer skin a long time ago but sadly missed on the party skin.

 

I have heard some rumors about Idea Factory planning to release another Azur Lane game. Cant say I am looking forward to it especially after the disaster that Crosswave was.
