Well if you go "from KC" I took the test once and I think the only battleship I liked was Littorio (Roma's ugly, Musashi's ugly, Ise's ugly, Yamato and Nagato are okayish but still).
DDs all the way. Other than Fubuki because Fubuki best ship & Fubuki best girl, Mutsuki, Satsuki, Minazuki, Kuroshio, Tanikaze, Maikaze, Yuugumo & Takanami are really cute aswell (yeah I like Type As).

But hey, doesn't really matter. I mean I haven't touched kancolle in years soooo xD

About battlships. Musashi is strange for me, I strongly dislike her mixure of very feminine and very masculine look in the same time, it's disguisting for me to be honest - similar to the some sport stars. Anyway she because strong Nagato, Mutsu and Nelson Attack's isn't something very important. Yamato is probably most favourite battleship in game, Nagato is 100% neutral, there are no many character beyond some DD's which didn't generate in me anything. Colorado is very funny, Roma has strange look but it corresponds with her personality, Iowa is carricatural and her "assets" are just too big. I agree that Ise class is ugly in stock form and in Kai form but they stole me in K2 form although I know that similar look done by Konishi, Bob or Yoshinori will invent a more interesting faces. Here is example of nice Ise ( in style of game CG ) without potato face drawn by fan artist ( R-18 page but image is safe )

Thanks to the absolute [beep] ton of posts about azur lane I have decided to try it out. But I’ve been struggling with the plane hellscape that is 2-4.

12-4 I'd agree. But 2-4? As long as you're not trying to use lvl1 ships naked, they should truck their way through just fine, even with white/blue gear and barely upgraded. IIRC Omahas are early source of usable 76mm AA, while County class heavy cruisers give blue octuple pompoms

 

Kinda shame item needed for Sandy Retro is eventwalled, so you can't get the most out of her. Post retro... she have truly demonic damage output

While non american and non Akizuki class DDs anti air leaves something to be desired, the moment you have level parity and at least *something* mounted as AA guns they should get the job done at such low maps.

12 and 13 map have such hard on for planes, on lower ones you might actually bring some battleships with secondaries to deal with yolo boats

I wouldn't worry about world 13 yet - it's not even implemented on EN.

Heck, I've been playing since the game was released on the English app store and I'm not even on world 12 yet (mainly because I've been focused on grinding events and for map drop shipgirls).

The way to beat plane waves like the one demonstrated above is to bring a lot of CVs and launch your own air strike at the same time btw to cut them down with fighters. Extreme AA helps but will not be enough.

Welp, after the maintenance for this here event that I don't give a flying f about (ok, I am lying a bit, I don't care about the ships and about whatever Hololive is, but I do care about the chance of grabbing a few blueprints, it seems I can't get anymore Saint Louis ones in research for some reason), I was finally able to complete the quest, and I got my first UR ship.

If you are like me didn't strongly interested in this Hololive Event I would prioritize this Research Blueprints as most important ( I will for sure try to get all of new characters and complete all maps with limited Izumo grind team to kill two birds with one stone ) They are most valuable good in game for me ( beyond retrofit Microphone and Sword ) because gems I can get from maps, recompensation and from apologems while PR Blueprints are unobtinable in any other way than Research Academy.

Something like that. I would add to it that Gold Boxes are worth of effort if You didn't have enough Purple/gold equipment but it's secondary because it's having smaller value than PR Blueprints. I'm going through maps with Ise and Hyuuga for Izumo grind with Portland because I want her to hit lvl 120.

To be fair, San Diego's retrofit is actually really good. It's a shame you need an event-only item in order to actually complete it.

If you're able to, keep about 7 copies of Sandy so you can fully limit break her and retrofit her relatively easily.

 

Also, I always liked getting Sandy as I actually like hearing her voice say "Hello~ Watashi wa San Diego~!".

During the Battle of Crete, Perth's task force met a convoy of small boats bound for Crete, escorted by the torpedo boat Sagittario. The latter covered the scattering convoy, charging at the enemy and sailing between two cruisers at minimal range; this reaction, coupled with the force's commander being a tad wee shy and worried about aircrafts, made them double back, after having sunk just two boats. The Sagittario escaped with little damage.
