It is a pretty game, and planes are still the best mode. Just ships, ergh...

Oh yeah, and don't be daft like me and play British stuff, Gaijin absolutely hates Britain's vehicles, they get shafted at every opportunity. Because balans.

 

Air RB is in a desperate need of a rework. It is still the same after years and climbing for 5 minutes at the starts of the match is... I just can't anymore. Hence why I'm only playing jets.

I mostly play Tank RB anyway. The mode also have some glaring issues though.

 

Also it's not just the brits. Basically any nation that isn't germany/US/soviets constantly get shafted since balance is an afterthought for WT devs. The addition of Leclerc and Roland finally made French playable in high tier which is welcome, but the tech tree still lacks a proper 10.0 jets AND a real top tier helicopter. Seriously they added the AH-1Z which is from 2000 but they refused to add the Eurocopter because (and I quote) : "not every nation will have an equivalent to AH-1Z and Mi-35M" and balance be damned.

 

Let alone fixing the goddamn bugs the "minor" tech tree gets by the dozen. Challenger in particular, but I could mention half the french tanks too.

 

Their BR system and economy also need a huge revamp. But again instead of working on that, they works on short-term hype and powercreeping.

I never bothered with air rb, i find it incredibly boring spending the next centuary climbing just to die after 10mins of nothing, might as well play realm grinder.

 

when bigger ships with more aa and secondaries come into the game...jesus christ will peoples computers lag.

 

i last played when the T-62 just got released so you can how long i havent played it for.

 

if there was a azur/kancolle game like wows would guys leave here and play that as a replacement to this?

In all seriousness, I don't think any 'quit' from me would be permanent. I'd probably still come back to WoWS every now-and-then to get my fix and see if WG manage to mess up the balance of something again.

I can confirm the second half. I haven't and won't reinstalled the game but I do follow the news because there's always something hillarious in Wargaming's behavior, especially from outside.

That being said, following without playing makes things a bit harder at times. Took me a while before firguring out what a slingshot could be.

Well, to be fair, British low tier vehicles actually got improved a bit. Gaijin messed around with the penetration formulas for AP shells, so British guns all gained a tiny bit (except the Chally, but that is a sad case). It is more the issue that solid shot, while good at penetrating things, just can't compete with APHE that the "Big 3" use (which, for the record, is modelled wrong, just changing it would weaken these nations too much). So British tanks fail to match the meta. They have good gun depression, speed and acceptable rate of fire, in a meta that requires angled armour/thick armour, APHE out of a big gun and no gun depression (maps are flat nowadays). I still love them, you can make them work. Like my Crusader III, that has to be one of my favourite tanks in WT. But compared to a T 34 or Pz IV, why go to the effort?

Planes are more fun with a friend to play with, and at low tiers, you don't climb much anyway. And as fr dying after 10 minutes of climbing, that is about right for allied nations' planes: usually Germany and USSR planes (not to forget Japanese on some maps) will have the height advantage, so dominate the engagement unless they screw up.

Naval Forces can already be pretty laggy with all the MGB's and MTB's blazing away with Oerlikons and other autocannons. So yeah, could be amusing when, say, a refitted HMS Renown is added. 70-ish Oerlikons, 5x octuple Pom Poms, 20x 4.5" DP guns (like Queen Liz in WT) and 6x 15"/42 Mk. I guns. Embrace the lag...

Ahh i see, whats with the challenger though? it was regarded as one of the best MBT's in the 80's and the mk2 is solid as well. My highest nation for planes is Britain followed by russia then usa then japan. havent bothered with german, french, italian planes yet.

Chally is just... questionable. From not getting the correct APFSDS rounds or penetration, to HESH being made crap, to some questionable armour thicknesses, it is a bit of a bug fiesta. Funny thing was, they almost got the penetration right, then introduced this new pen formula that threw it off again. At least it is APFSDS so does alright post-pen damage. I am sad about the HESH though, it used to be my favourite anti-bias round. Hence why it has been nerfed...

Bit of an aside, but the HESH was nerfed using a Russian source website if I remember right. Considering the USSR never used HESH, it was really just a British thing, that was pretty poor. And afterwards, the website disappeared, so I'm told. Add in the fact HESH was very effective against the Big Three (particularly Tiger II's, IS series tanks and T-54's), and I will leave you to draw your own conclusions about that. And people try to say we have Russian Bias in WoWs...

HESH is basically High explosive squash head, it doesn't actually pen tanks nor should it, it's job is to hit the tank then create huge shockwaves and distortions that severally damage crew members and internals with minimal to some damage to the outside of the vehicle, but im guessing its more like generic HE rounds.

Also HESH was effective against buildings too like bunkers for example.

 

I dont have an issue with russian ships mostly, the stalingrad is basically forced to stay at a distance and bow in (so mini jean-bart). But i guess i lack the experience with those ships.

Yeah, it's pretty cool how HESH works. But they lowered the penetration at one point to the point it was unusable, now the penetration increases with the angle it hits the armour (to do with how the pat of explosive forms on the plate. I mean, it can work, there is a vid of a guy using HESH only in a Chally 2 and doing alright. I am just sad I don't have my anti-bias round anymore, HESH truly made the Centurion Mk. 10 fantastic.

As for bunkers, if Gaijin would be so kind as to add extra ground forces modes, then it could prove its worth compared to regular HE. But we have "cap this circle in a field" modes instead. They are okay to a point, but a "breakthrough" mode would be nice, where you fight pillboxes and defending tanks to help your armoured cars advance against the enemy. Just look at WoWs: the PvE modes are a good change of pace from random battles, WT needs this in my opinion.

Mostly farming B stage, initially leveling Atlanta class and Honkyourlulu when getting exp for Saint Louis. Now grinding iBucky exp and upbringing IJN CA crowd. FurryKakoNachos up from 50odd to 84lvl as of now, Takao/Mogami/Mikuma brought from 75-80lvl into 90-92lvl territory. D stage uncomfortably often needs manual carry even with my best picks and sure as hell can't do it with IJN crowd.

 

Amount of feed into other ships or otherwise retired FurryKakos, Kinkybergs, Leanders and whatnot I guess easily can strech into 300 or so. I've lost count long time ago, but got 30k event tokens. Speaking of which I should find purpose for them I guess?

 

At least from all this feeding FurryKako grew nice set of torpedo bulges
