I even had to skip starting on the special builds for subs. I have no idea when I'll ever have time to get subs when build-heavy events are stacked in this way.

I'm lucky I found Montpelier pretty fast or I would have had to postpone trying to get her indefinitely, just like the subs.

Speaking of subs, I was thinking about how I should build SOS signal fleets as I get access to more anti-sub equipment.

 

Foxhound and Cygnet looks to be really good candidates for three reasons. Really good ASW ratings, cheap and among the best (if not the best) evasion stats of any ships. Also I really want a reason to use these two... top heavy DDs in some kind of fleet. 

Not sure what other ships I should include and if I really need more than one good ASW ship per fleet. It's not like even the boss subs are hard to crack.

 

I guess I'll get Chaser leveled since this is obviously her only purpose, but I kind of feel like it's overkill at least for the SOS stages I've seen so far (up to and including W9).

I still have default given sub and haven't bothered with extra missions, yet. But I have conundrum about Anshan trio. They serve well in low cost, low map farming, but they hit 70lvl already and can't go any further without LB. Finding up to 12 bulins aside, LBing them massively bumps their fuel cost (from 3 to 9 at max LB), which slightly defeat the point, if I can just shove Phoenix/Brooklyn/Leanders at the same price per boat for so much more dakka.

I doubt they'll add torpedos for the AL Kii's? (Maybe a skill like Tirp/Scharn/Gnei) Or is that just a WoWs gimmick?

Uhm, why not? Amagi and Kaga both have a torp stat and launch torps as part of their barrage.

Looks like Reddit was right afterall, IJN DD equipped with quints turned out to by Shimakaze and IJN BB with five double turrets turned out to be Kii...'s sister ship. Shima's quite the cutie, too, but I wonder if she'll hold a candle to KC Shima...

I still prefer the KC Shima, this is bit ehh? But depends on the personality I guess.

Quintuple torpedo tubes, so 5 torpedos on a launcher. as you may know, Shima is the only one with those, as the others had quadruple and triple torpedo torps, while designs like Kitakaze have sextuple.

 

Also, I care about AL Shima about as much as I care about KC Shima and WoWS Shima. Not a whole lot... Overall, it's not a terrible design, but won't ever compete in the same league as KC Shima, which is just something else, though I doubt it's because the character design is so great.

Here the useless fact of the day (not that I do this daily, or even monthly for that matter, but anyway) :

 

Kawakaze is a name that first appeared in Japanese DDs in 1915, as the sole sister of Urakaze, in the classe of the same name. The Urakaze class of 1915 brought many innovations to IJN Destroyers at the time, a mix of Umikaze and British doctrines, although they were still British-built overall. Due to WWI, Urakaze-class Kawakaze ended up being sold short to Italy.

Due to her being sold before completion, the name Kawakaze was freed, and was therefore reused shortly after, in 1918, as once again sole sister of Tanikaze, class of the same name. The Tanikaze class (sometimes named Kawakaze class due to launch and completion dates) was a 1st-class DD design, overall a developpement of Isokaze, closer to Umikaze than to Urakaze. Kawakaze would serve until 1935.

In 1935, however, the Tanikaze class started to be seriously old. So, Kawakaze retired, and the name was freed... again. And during the building of the Shiratsuyus, another Kawakaze was made.

 

I haven't checked absolutely all names, but this is the only case of my knownledge where in 1939, an IJN destroyer was the third of her name instead of second or first.

 

As for Tanikaze and Urakaze, their names would repeat - though only for a second time so far - and they'd both be sisters in the Kagero class.

Kawakaze, Tanikaze and Urakaze have all been sisters in different class. Better add the dates if you don't wanna get confused quickly...

The problem with San Diego : if WG added it to the collab they would need to give seven or eight of her as captains at once. And she would invade the deck of every single ships in your port.
