This is just a general question to my fellow Shikikans, not particularly addressed to you, Panocek:

Is it weird that our newbie who started three weeks ago has already started their foxmines grind, while I, who started back in late September (when the game went into full release), have yet to even look at 3-4 since 3-starring it all those months ago?

I feel like the AL playerbase must look at me like some kind of weirdo for just not being interested in the foxes.

Actually, in general I've been avoiding drop-only shipgirls, I've only just started grinding 6-4, but even then I'm actually only doing it on hard mode for CV blueprints and gold quad 610mm torpedo tubes designs.

Just to point out to you, Panocek, how lucky you are to have started late:

Back when we started the game, the 'Safety' guage was not implemented. No matter how many times we completed a level, it would stay just as difficult as the first time we played it.

 I don't have particular "need" for fox twins besides current goalpost being collecting them "coz rare", even more so as "main CV" is already covered by Enty+Yorktown. I guess the same story like with WoWs - you can have fun with lowtier boats or your first tier 10, but it gets dull quite fast.

I didn't go foxmining either. I hate utterly repetitive stuff, the character design is ok, but not making me go out of my way for it and I get by in PvE without foxes.

If I keep remembering to purge now and then spares port slots aren't an issue. Skins, I don't feel attached to any character (yet). And Sara and double gems is still a thing for 1st purchase if in game ads are of any indication

But then I'd have to get Lex for pair, because OCD

I purge frequently, but as I keep at least one of each ship, with bulins and a few spares of rarer ships (for later limit break and retrofit), I do actually run out of slots.

 

But yeah, may you find a favourite ship soon.

Buy gems for Dorm Slots and Port Slots. Trust me, with 220+ (last time I checked) shipgrils in the game and more on the way, you will need more slots. Also, giving your favourite ships rings increases their maximum affection and thereby also increases their maximum stat boost from affection.

Oh, and be aware when you 'purge': there are collections you can find on the main screen that give you bonuses from holding on to shipgrils and LMBing them.

Oh, and to help sweeten the deal of buying gems: the 'double gems' bonus applies to each of the options you see on the purchase screen seperately. E.g. I have bought both the $10 pack and the $20 pack and have received bonus gems on two individual occasions; furthermore I can see on my screen that ALL of the remaining options still have the 'double gems' bonus available:

First I'd need to get some high end levels on "main" shipgrills with LB done and better gear than white/odd blue +3 to look for further ways of improving squeaky 2d characters

 

And tbh choosing between yanderes, tsunderes, lolis, drunk rabbits and "duty first" kind feels like choosing showing broadside to Montana or Yamato

Would love to get myself one someday but sadly she's expensive as  and according to some things I read not really suited for sporting purposes.

Take your white and blue boxes, make them into purple boxes (5:1 conversion rate) and open these. Typically drops blue and purple equips. Also, events and gold boxes can give gold equips. If you got too many coins, go buy them in Shiranui's shop. That shop often has offers for useful things.

See, Leander is none of that. In general, I guess you could look through cruisers. Light cruisers come with added benefit of likely being the most universal ship type to use.
