I assume US BB (Arizona to be specific) are beyond redemption when it comes to their secondaries, limited to DD guns only? Nelson class with basic Leander twin 152mm handles yolo boats just fine, while Arizona can't intercept them in time even with purple twin 127.

Well, they can kill damaged boats and maybe boats with a large level disparity. also, these guns add AA.

 

But yeah, if you want bomb boat stoppers, you're better off with using RN BB or Sakura BB.

Use the US 152 triple guns as secondaries if you want to stop fireboats. Spread basically assures hits and they have great range too.

Wouldn't IJN 155 triples work quite well too? Given their shot pattern, they should be better at stopping bomb boats that come at the BB directly.

Better at hitting one fireboat and ensuring a kill. But those things typically don't come alone and with the shotgun spread on the US 152mm triples you can catch multiple fireboats in one shot.

Guess it depends. In bomb boat challenge, I'd agree, but typically, when multiple arrive, they come on different flanks or mid and then a flank BB won't hit more than one anyway. Then I find the IJN gun maybe more convenient. Not to mention, you can cover one flank/mid with vanguard anyway.

 

tbh tho... I'll just slap on my BBs secondary guns that are nation-appropriate...

It certainly does matter - DD guns noticeably lack oomph to dispatch bomber boats. With Freedom battleboats being somewhat handicapped on the matter
