I dont know if they already said it in a Q&A or not, but as i can remember they wont to it. I could be wrong tho. 

But youre absolutely right about night or evening missions. I think it is tricky to implement a night mission but they should atleast a evening mission around 10 oclock.

Your ideas with flares and search lights are also quite nice. And islands could have lighthouses aswell.

Oi! Because I don't have nothing else to do with my money but buy a soundcard. Better spend that cash on a good starter pack.

 

Also, my monitor is quite decent.

I'm ok for some night maps, but not if it remove the ally ships markers. Only if it reduce the visibility of the ships, meaning the need of a better use of recon planes and carrier. I might be too much when thinking about destroyers who are already quite stealthy, but it could bring a good deal of fun.

well i remeber them doing "darker" maps in wot... then having to remove them because of players moaning they cant see the game well anouth! lol

A complete night map would be complicated, maybe a dawn/dusk map could work. In that case there's at least some light so people can see where they are going and what are doing and carriers would be actually useful(in a night engagements carriers required airborne radars which became available only in the final years of the war.

well i remember them doing "darker" maps in wot... then having to remove them because of players moaning they cant see the game well enough! lol

Normally I would be incline to pass judgement that most people are whining sissies... if not for a certain thing. 'Dark' maps don't work if the mechanics aren't adjusted, because the advantage lies on the side of the guy who has the contrast cranked up to the 'eyeball-searing' level.

I have to admit that completely night setting (with good moon light, so we can see something at least) would not work for majority of players. It could be fun sometimes, but it would not work well for public games. However in Clan Wars or Team Battles it could be very interesting.

 

For public games, there could be dusk setting, where it would be darker, but still visible enough to not forcing players manipulate with contrast. And the spotting range of all ships decreased max by 30% so we don't have too many stealth ships:)

 

Anyway, I don't need to have this at release time and if this doesn't work during testing, I can live without it. But at some moment in future, it would be great to have this as some featured mod (way to test it publicly for short time) as you did it with mini games in WoT.

That would be very nice. Just think about a full broadside at night or flares shot by warships to illuminate the battlefield. That would be very impressive.

 

But than we need another visionsystem and I guess that´s something WG won´t do. They denied it for WoT and they will deny it for WoWS.

Imagine firing a broadside at a distant target, and with the flash from the blast, all of a sudden you see another ship right next to you....

Have to agree with you (concerning WoT), but ships are bit different. You have to be able to see obstackles such as islands or icebergs, but you dont need to maneuver through a towns or avoid small stones/rocks that would stop your tank. Moreover the main map is flat, so no need to see terrain differences as in lost of WoT maps.

 

Although it would requite some testing, i guess its all about setting the darkness. Say total darkeness and new-moon period would be a hell. But partial darkenss with decent moonlight would be awsome.

 

One more idea - day/night maps as a type of battle.

 

In WoT, we have standard battles plus encounters and assaults. And every player have the option to turn assault and encounter battles off (separately). Perhaps adding night battles in ships and enable to turn this this mode off would be a solution suitable for everyone.

 

And if night battle would be separate mode, perhaps even some adjustment to game mechanics could be made, something like this ...

.. -30% to range your ship could be spotted from (or same +30% to cammo rating if I use WoT terms)

.. +30% to this range when firing with main guns (and for 3 sec after the fire)

.. +10% when firing from secondary guns (AA etc.)

.. somewhat lower chance for planes to be spotted (not sure how does it works with planes so far), or decrease of AA guns accuracy

.. increase time planes need to take off the carrier (or 'reload time' for planes or something, just to add dissadvantage to balance bonus planes get for not being so easily spotted and shot down)
