Even though you were using the spectator mode, you cannot see the enemy ships if they aren't spotted by your team mates (as that would give an obviously unfair advantage if you were to communicate with your team). As such, the Benson should be more invisible than visible. Unless, of course, I completely misunderstood your question/problem...

First we need some facts so I will line up a few now. You have 707 battles @42%WR of which 265 are in the Tirpitz and 126 in the Atago. You have prior to that very little experience so have little understanding of game mechanics. You are indeed a prime example of how not to play this game, jumping in at the deep end without learning to swim. Please, please read and watch how to play and understand this game without running to the forum (for the first time!) complaining about what was obvious (to most) was an obvious event. Pffft.

[edit]Kartoffelmos above summed up one point I missed, thanks. [/edit]

It is a bit rough to hit him in his face with his stats just because he asked for an explanation, don't you think?

Considering that his post his neither a rant nor a hackusation, a simple answer or the question to deliver more facts on the matter should be enough...

Please elaborate, kind Sir :hmm:

during the battle my ship Tirpitz was shelled by another ship intermittently for approx 5 mins not a lot of damage, during this time the other ship was not visible, no smoke was showing and shells appeared out of thin air,  then six torps appeared I avoided 5 the next 6 did make contact and I was sunk.

I then pressed SHIFT and back tracked in free mode I found a shells coming out of the sea, I carried on tracking and a Benson DD appeared the disappeared, reappeared etc etc................thanks for your interest

As Kartoffelmos said, even in free camera mode you can only see the enemy ships which are spotted by your allies to avoid an unfair advantage.

Some DDs have the ability to shoot other ships without getting spotted by applying the right captain skills.

In your case it is possible that the Benson used this ability and could shoot you without getting spotted. However, later in the battle maybe a spotter (ship or plane) was just close enough to see the Benson firing before it left the spotting range again.

A fully upgraded Benson with the Concealment Expert skill can start invisifiring you at 9.7km range.

This means that he just have keep 9.7km from you and him, and then he can proceed to shoot you without being spotted by you.

Answer: Every ship has ship-specific concealment range value. If ship is further than it's concealment range. You can not see it.

Solution: Learn the concealment range of every single ship, and learn how that concealment range changes in different game situations(like while on fire, while shooting, while detected by planes).

and you're certainly the forum idiot, maybe you will grow some brain cells sometime in the future and worry about your own WR instead of others

I can perfectly understand why Euan_Huzarmy got salty. OP is playing high tier without even understanding the most basic game mechanics and his stats clearly show that. All that Euan did was point that out.

On the other hand OP came and asked for clarification instead of raging about invisible ships,so he deserves a polite and helpful answer.

Just FYI:

A Benson with the right skills and equipment (and most of them have this) gets spotted at 5.8 Km if he is not shooting.

He gets spotted at 9.5 Km when he is shooting.

But a Benson can shoot up to 13+ KM ..... so there's a range of about 4 Km where he can shoot at an enemy, and not get spotted by that enemy.

Exactly :honoring:

But you always get one idiot that is incapable of giving a polite answer

Now how easy is that, no sarcasm or idiot syndrome, just a straight forward polite answer

Spartan, you are one old fool that loves his soapbox. I gave a reply a teacher would do, study, absorb and understand. You just came to insult. Period. As for the OP he now has had plenty of pointers so put your slippers on, sit in front of the fire and drink your cocoa.........

I don't know what kind of teachers you had but mine did not answer a simple and polite question about chemistry with "Ha, you suck at geography, your PE marks are below average and let's don't even speak about history. Go and read a book, noob."...

Yes, the OP might be not a good player but at least he does not the same thing, players like him usually do in there first forum post but he actually wants to understand how some of the game mechanics work.

You're an idiot who likes to belittle others with stats crap, go get a life, and no! a teacher would show more respect, they would give facts in line with the question posed, not try to belittle someone for self satisfaction

No, you came into the thread and insulted the OP while providing advice that was basically "L2P Noob". OP wanted to learn, that should be encouraged not denigrated.
