Battleships Everywhere!

In the last month or two I've noticed battleships becoming more and more popular with people and its not uncommon to see over half the teams made up of them. Last night I played a ranked battle and the opposition had 1 Destroyer and 1 Cruiser, with the rest made up of battleships. It has become increasingly difficult to play with cruisers because they're just cannon fodder for BBs. 

 

Is this well known or am I talking nonsense?!

But it is still possible to have game with 5 DDS and another 5 CAs + 1 BB and 1 CV

I had such game yesterday and I was so looking forward, tunnel vision, I was too in front with our DD and was spotted and aimed by three CAs and insta-killed. craphappens sometimes.

Well... I had the opposite in a ranked battle. One cruiser and one battleship with the rest being destroyers.

 

But I agree: There are a lot of BBs in the game currently.

BBs have always been popular. Even stronger now since ze Germans were added.

 

Plus:

Over the last months IJN DD torps were nerfed, CVs have been nerfed and BB AAA was buffed, so no surprise.

 

I don't like it this way. BBs are too easy to play.

I suggest to read the forum and not just post stuff. The forum is a place for exchange and not a place to dump stuff.

Really I see too many Destroyers most of the time in ranked battles.

If you're a decent player you shouldn't even whine about it, but of course looks like you can't play and you get REKT by others so making an useless topic is the best idea.

 

Got rank 1 by supporting and trying to do tactics with my team, even getting lots of torps I never cried or made a topic about too many DDs.

Yes

Up to 14-16 BB each game.

Why?

A BB can kill a CA with 2-3 hit

A BBs have better AA tha CAs and can kill down entire planes squads

German BBs have torpedos and fast speed like cruisers

 

The real answer is: Why there are still cruisers in game?

There is nothing a CA can do that a BB cant do better

Best way to combat this plague is to burn them out.

 

You can count on 5 BB's in almost every random battle. And most ranked battles I've played in have had only 1 or 2 CA's per team.

 

 

In ranked I'm disappointed if I do less than 100k damage in my Cheeky Chapayev. That's usually enough to help the team to win or to end up top XP. If I do less than that I deserve to lose a star.

 

In randoms I've been avoiding tiers 5 and 6 as they get harsh matchmaking. At Tier 007 the Sean Connery Shchors is a very sweet ship to play at the moment.

 

 

I think it's great having all these BB's! Long may it last!

Found the Shchors to be a chore, but actually enjoy taking out all that free East-German nightclubs, err Kongos now. True enough, you end up in tier 7 battles 8 out of 10 these days, but that's exactly the fun part. Unforgiving enough that I finally bothered to learn how to BB properly. Even took the Fuso to ranked, but... well, horrible mode, quickly lost interest. Nevertheless, I think the only way to actually stop the infestation is to join. Only when there are simply no other classes left in the game will WG finally think again.

Correction : German tier 7 battleships have torpedos, but pay for them through the nose on primary guns. German tier 8 premium battleship also has torpedos, but is not really overall better than the regular tier counterpart. (those secondaries on the Bismarck...)

 

German BBs also generally have an armor layout that makes them much tankier than others at the same tier, but generally pay for it in gunnery performance. Which would be more of a problem if the average player understood game mechanics and didn't give their non-germanic non-turtleback non-german steel battleship broadsides to other battleships so often...... the only ones who can get away with doing that are the german BBs because they're so hard to citadel to begin with... <_<

Ahahah thank you, sometimes you have to trade for the win of a battle so RNG could betray me, ramming is a secure kill

That's where you are wrong, the majority of BB's are at the very edges of the map and only push in when it's way to late to reset the cap/cap a POI and/or deal with the 2 ships the enemy have left and lose the battle due to points.. oh, and most of the time they are on your team.. (at least that's how it is for me most of the time).

I think this game is realy excellent great! Great graphics etc. etc. When I saw it the first time - some monts ago - I thought by myself: I will get to play this game for very many hours.

 

Only problem is: I chose the Cruiser (Japanese) to focuss on & I bought some premium ships (also Atago). But..the cruisers seem to be such an easy prey for the battleships. Cruisers are easily sunk soon by battleships, and then the waiting for us (= cruiser-players) begins. I think for all my logg-in time some 65% goes in 'waiting" since, does not matter how you play it: the battleships will sink you soon. Seems that the the game is mostly enjoyable for the battleships only since 'destroyer + cruisers players' are the ones getting sunk soon and ending up waiting, & waiting & waiting. I started playing the game as a premium member & still am since I opine that the game itself (WOWS) is a realy brilliant concept and it is a realy excellent game (all aspects) So, I rate the game as a 9,5 overall. that is my opinion.

But last month I hardly see myself playing the game for more than an average of 15 minites a day, since at the moment the cruisers have no play at all against the infestation of battleships. So, imo. to enjoy the game: go & play the battleships only.

I hope that in the future the game will be made more interesting for us (destroyer-players + cruiser-players).

Honestly, if you keep dieing to a BB in a CA you might be doing something wrong. Yes, if you give full broadside they can delete you, yes if you solo yolo into them they will kill you. Just play it a bit safer ( look up some Youtube guides, really like Flamus guides for lower tier ships ).

Buying Atago without having enough experience can be very rough indeed, it's a tier VIII ship that does require some skill to play. Yes, once you know how to it's an OP ship, but if you don't know how to play it you'll have a very hard time. In general, buying a tier YYY premium ship, without reaching a tier YYY ship in a normal line is just questionable.
As for the waiting, don't get this. As soon as I die, I leave to port, select another ship and play again. Hardly any waiting time there!?

I have to disagree here (lets talk CL not CA, as there are more of them).

The sole quantity of BBs make it hard NOT to get hit by one (if you are doing your job and supporting DDs while they cap).

How would you feel when BBs stay behind when you should be behind them. Its either go in and do your job and get hammered by an enemy BB (lets be honest, you dont have to show broadside to get citadeled in CL), or you join them and stay behind and not support your DDs and by so increase the chance of loss. You are a good Cruiser player ... how do you cope with this?
