[KOOKS] krautjaeger Modder, Beta Tester 1,514 posts 3,350 battles Report post #1 Posted October 2, 2016 Like many here I started in WoT, then slowly moved over to WoWs and now pretty much permanent here. Why? First of all, the games are a lot more civil. Little to no toxicity compared to the WoT cesspool, forums included. But most importantly for me, the games go for the duration or close to it. In WoT games are over so fast it doesn't feel I played at all. If I take my time and go in to some position half the team is already wiped out and it's waiting for the gank to happen. In WoWs things are slow, even if you get hit you're not done for in an instant even if you have the equivalent to ammo racked. Because the game is slow, the individual contribution is much more valuable as well. I've seen, and been actively part of, games starting out as getting rolled but then you just bring it back after getting 3-4 of theirs. WoWs calms me down, focuses me, relaxes me while WoT does the opposite. I'm on this side now, while I man tank every now and then ships is my choice. If you prefer WoWs over WoT, what are your reasons?
[BONI] MoveZig Players 1,622 posts 20,823 battles Report post #2 Posted October 2, 2016 I'm on a high-latency connection, so the slower pace of WoWS works out a lot better. I did try WoT again recently and egad, what happened to it? Why was every t5 match I tried over in 5 minutes due to zerg rushing? I remember a lot more camping and scouting, not just 100% lemming all day every day.
[SCRUB] Loran_Battle Beta Tester 1,245 posts Report post #3 Posted October 2, 2016 I like both games. I have 18k games in WoT. But I have a special place in my heart for anything ship related. I love naval combat games of any era. I do like WoWs more for another reason as mentioned before and not only in this thread: The pace. Less twitchy skills and precision shooting. I can take 2 seconds longer to aim correctly in this game. There is also a lot more room to react to mistakes in this game. In WoT you often just get nuked instantly when spotted if you are not in the latest stonkerest heavy tank. Also the balance and tier spread in WoT is just insanely stupid. Some tanks can barely fight against their own tier, but have no chance against tanks 2 tiers higher. In WoWs you can at least still do something.

Often I get in to a tier 8 game mainly with my tier 6 BBs, but I can still be extremely relevant if I play my ship correctly. And not getting instapopped. [ALONE] Smeggo Modder 2,485 posts 15,343 battles Report post #6 Posted October 2, 2016 I first tried WoT after playing a year WoWs. I was horrified about gameplay and graphics - if I really wanted to play a game with tanks, I'd take one of the competitors.
[D_R_M] steviln Players 911 posts 18,566 battles Report post #7 Posted October 2, 2016 I think World of Tanks have some serious problems: 1. The difference between the bottom tier and top tier tanks in each battle are to great. 2. Fantasy tanks are to important and dominate over the historical tanks. 3. Many fantasy tanks and even real tanks with longer than in real life guns simply look stupid and unrealistic. At least the fantasy ships here would be possible to construct in real life.

I'm not that thrilled about fantasy ships either though, which is why no German tier 9 and 10 for me. I stop at 8.

I stop at 8. However, they had actual plans to make many of the fantasy ships, and for a few of them they had already started constructing them or even buildt them, but changed plans during construction like the Amagi. Actually, one of the turres for the tier 9 german BB was actually made and is still in Norway as they used it as a forification.

[ST-EU] OldGrandad Supertester 3,404 posts 35,711 battles Report post #12 Posted October 2, 2016 Love WoWs. Game starts. Point ship in right direction. Walk to kitchen to make a cup of coffee. Wander back to PC. Correct direction. Drink a little coffee. Ah! Action! That is a well relaxing game we have here. (Ok, coffee was spilt a few time when the action hotted up!)

[POI--] dasCKD Quality Poster 2,376 posts 19,148 battles Report post #14 Posted October 2, 2016 (edited) I like WoWs because the game has a nice progression curve. I started off with the stats of a deliberate griefer (check my low tier IJN DD and CA stats) and I am still improving as I go. Even so, I still did damage and hit enemy ships. In tanks, you are basically just free XP and credits for the seal clubbers when you start off. It's a long time before you become anything useful, and so I prefer WoWs for the simple fact that it allows players a chance to contribute even before they start getting good. Kameho Players 119 posts 1,275 battles Report post #15 Posted October 2, 2016 I play WoWs because its the only ww2 ship game, after NavyField pretty much died. [BW-UK] Gunship14 Players 850 posts Report post #16 Posted October 2, 2016 Do we know? What fortress is that, never heard about it. The weapon in question is the 40.6 cm SK C/34 gun, you can look it up and read about it on wikipedia. It was intended for the early H-class battleships. As for me playing WoWs, it's because I've played Navyfield on and off since I was 14 (thus my name), and I'm crazy about WW2 ships. So when I saw the Beta gameplay video on youtube of someone playing a Yamato on islands of ice, I just knew I had to play this game. Battlestations Pacific controls/graphics + grindy online action like Navyfield? Yes please!

Corvi Beta Tester, In AlfaTesters 1,147 posts 16,279 battles Report post #18 Posted October 2, 2016 There is no "Autoaim-Klick-Profit" gold ammo in WoWs. Thats the main reason. The single most idiotic thing in Wot is that you can pay for results if you lack the skills for it.

[TEA] Robber_Baron Players 1,322 posts 7,981 battles Report post #21 Posted October 2, 2016 The slower pace is something that pleases me as well. I'm terrible in WoT, but I hate the fact that somebody can insta-delete me when I'm spotted. In WoWs, that happens not that often. Occasionally I try WoT again, but most of the times I'm disappointed. By my own performance, but by the toxic chat as well. I'm interested in military history for as long as I can remember, but somehow that didn't involve naval combat for a long time. Perhaps because I live far from the shore, in an area that saw quite some combat during WW2 but only on land and in the air. While our own country is known for its naval combat. The first time I learned about WoWs was when I saw a picture on Flickr from a Tenryu IIRC. Historical warships, great! That's when I tried, and I've stayed. Although I would've liked if they started the era slightly earlier, with the pre-dreadnought era. Anyway, a single warship tells a story, a tank not so much.
