Thank you Herr Major :honoring: I also love those old warships. And i love the fights in lower tiers. IN T8-10 it´s so HORRIBLE. Only camping and sniping from max distance. Am a very aggresive player. Love brawling. So when i push in Kurfürst, well, My SO CALLED support hide behind an island. Or going backwards. Fun? NO!! Love those intence fights in t1-6 :)

Rumour has it that the Dreadnought's death ride continues. Apparently Fuso, New Mexico and Colorado will lose their Dreadnought hulls in 0.6.2 - similar to what WG did to Nagato and Amagi.

Not sure if there is hope for a happy end as with Mutsu, the list of lost dreadnoughts gets longer with every patch.

My wife's grandad served on HMS Canterbury which is a C Class cruiser (albeit a different sub-class from Caledon) during WW1. We know for a fact through family stories passed down that he polished the ship's bell but whether as punishment or just routine, we don't know.

Co-incidentally, both of my stepsons went to University of Kent, their graduation ceremonies being held at Canterbury Cathedral. And guess what is proudly displayed in one of the main entrances of the cathedral....

Please add me to the list.

Don't be afraid, they remove the stock hull but they will use it to make a "new"  and "unique" premium.

DREADNOUGHT SECONDARIES MOD

Hi All!

So I've made a sound mod designed to beef up the secondaries of Dreads so the difference in calibers is also heard using some sounds from Battlestations: Pacific (surprisingly difficult to extract from the original game..but I did it!) . I personally think it's closer than the default WoWs sounds, but would like some Dreadnought Aficionado's opinions...

So far I've only made it for Mikasa, Warspite and the German BBs, but if you guys like i'll also do it for others....Note that this also changes the main guns slightly, though these aren't part of my mod...just thought it sounded cool!

How to install:

1) Copy the entire unzipped folder into World_of_Warships/res/banks/OfficialMods

2) Change your in-game voice-over modification to 'BSPSecondaries' using the Audio settings tab.

3) Turn some DDs to Swiss cheese with a soundtrack to match!

Well, as a retired Royal Navy Submariner, I find it a contradiction to my own sense of honour to be admitted as a token skimmer ( :sceptic: ) but I'll gladly accept the invitation in the spirit in which it was meant. (PM to follow :great: )

:teethhappy:

definition of 'skimmer':- pls scroll down to 'skimmer puke' https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Appendix:Glossary_of_military_slang#S

Doesn't the Submarine service have a saying along the lines of "there are only two kinds of ships: submarines and targets" to wind up the surface fleet?  ;)

Everyone seems to post Battleship or Battlecruiser pictures, so I will shake that up. Have HMS Southampton.

Also, I wonder if anyone wants to guess which ship it is in my signature. She was at Jutland too, but it is pretty hard.

As far as I know they will, but until the others are announced we cant be sure. It would be nice to see subs with names like Victory, Hood, Warspite.... :honoring:

AFAIK, HMS Victory is still in commission. I don't see Hood being the name of any other ship due to her designation as a war-grave (it could be that the name was struck from the naval register, thus allowing it), and IIRC the last HMS Warspite was a Valiant-class sub launched in 1965 and decommissioned in 1991.

So of those, Hood is a possible option and Warspite is a definite option. I'm not sure about the other capital ships of the past, but we'll have to wait and see.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say maybe the destroyer HMS Attack? After all she did serve at Jutland, although it could well be one of the other members of the First Destroyer Flotilla.

I admit to cheating by google, but it looks to be the M-class destroyer HMS Munster. =)

Do you have a connection? Family, or Irish roots?

Damn you and your cheating resourcefulness!

It is purportedly HMS Munster, of the 12th Destroyer Flotilla, which was on the starboard side of Grand Fleet I think. My Great Grandfather served on her from the 26th January 1916 to the 4th January 1919, which was basically all of her service life. Of course this includes Jutland as well. The history of Munster  is not too extensive, serving from in the 12th Flotilla, she arrived to put the final shots into SMS Greif and rescue survivors of the Alacantra. Then Jutland, and after November 1918 she was sent to the 3rd Destroyer Flotilla, and then sent to Portsmouth in March 1919.

Nice!

She was with the Grand Fleet all her service life? Probably including more or less non-stop patrolling in the north sea, blockade cordons and northern barrage. No wonder she was worn out by 1919.

These two are real beauties!

The Iron Dog is my personal all time favourite, closet followed by Kaiser, Koenig and Mackensen. But Tiger is also one nice ship! Probably my favourite British ship :-)

I'll just leave these little photos here too. Neither a destroyer, cruiser, nor battleship be she.

This is the monitor HMS Gorgon. Ordered from Armstrong Whitworth in 1913 as the Norwegian coastal defence ship Nidaros, she was taken over by the Royal Navy on the outbreak of war. Due to repeated delays in building, she was only commissioned in May 1918. Her 9.2-inch guns fired the Royal Navy's last shots of the war against the German army, when she bombarded shore targets in Flanders a few weeks before the signing of the armistice.
