bastion is the most confusing/least enjoyable mode going. does anyone actually understand how to play it properly? I've watched vids on it and I still have no clue. seriously needs reworked

There needs to be a way for us to set our guns in 'neutral' (backwards/forwards) until such point as we want to aim our guns at something. In co-op mode, the bots do this when they have no targets and this is how we also should be able to do it. Make it a key release. Press <key> to release from neutral, press <key> to put back in neutral. This function can be toggle-able in settings, if needed, if you want to be able to use it or not.

Well for the forward guns you can lock them in neutral - lock on bearing with ctrl+x

It doesn't solve the problem of the rear guns though.

Did all 3 challenges (win 10 in Cruisers, Battleships, Soviet DDs)

Battleships - no change, and masses playing the Bismarck

Cruisers - no change, same strengths and weaknesses. BB heavy meta just like live game.

Soviet DDs - nerfed to beggary. It doesn't help that you get focussed for a few salvos in co-op by the bots even after you hear the magic words "Smoke screen set" and a quick check reveals that you are firmly in the middle of a smoke circle.  One salvo, I can understand, but THREE ??!!

 

SIDE NOTE

I'm only up to Tier 6 "Bayern" in the German BB line on the live server.

We get Bismarck provided automatically on the PT server. After seening one of Flamu's videos I set her up with full secondary build.

It's barmy. Far too strong.

I expected to see a thread dedicated to Ranked as implemented on the current PT. Below is my feedback on the changes since the last season.

 

I'm ambivalent on the single-tier brackets, but I'm opposed to the mirror MM. Queue times were long enough last season with the more relaxed rules.

The removal of the concession to the 'leading loser' which allowed him to keep his star will lead to a very harsh 'star economy'. Perhaps it is the wrong tool for rewarding players who out-perform their team, but it shouldn't be removed without replacement. There must be some mechanism which adequately discriminates between those who carry and those who are carried if Ranked is to have any meaning as a measure of individual skill. My suggested star rewards are as follows: 2 stars earned for the best-performing winner, none earned or lost for the best-performing loser or the worst-performing winner (if they fall below a certain XP threshold), 2 stars lost for the worst-performing loser (if they fall below a certain XP threshold), all other winners earn one star and all other losers lose one star.

 

The cap zones on Trident are nice, but the spawns need to be pushed back slightly - maybe 500 m. A Fuso without CE (which will be most of them, I expect) is spotted literally immediately at spawn. It's a very punishing situation to be in and it allows the opposing team to read the Fuso's team's tactics quite easily.

The new modification for cruisers >= T8 is awesome / overpowered. You can bring down the rudder shift time of a New Orleans class cruiser to 3,3 sec. (Baltimore can be brought down to 3,8 sec.) This is DD like rudder shift time. It will greatly increse durability of cruisers with small turning radius (USN, maybe IJN). It is an easy mode for Torpedobeats... :-)

I am thinking of starting USN cruisers, just because of the modification.

 

I definately enjoyed it so far on PTS

Those are not the full changes, though, are they? For one thing, as I understand it, there is an across the board nerf to DD armor.

 

@ WG - If you want us to test stuff is it possible to provide the full patch notes so we know what we are testing against?

New modification for cruisers is simply idiotic and unrealistic.

BB armor nerf is just so stupid that i cannot comment.

 

WG staff. Read feedback and cancel changes.

 

If you whant agressive playing BBs. Nerf guns long range accuracy.

The changes to BB's have done nothing to change the gameplay.

 

I was fighting in the completely ruined by WG Khaba around an island when I was finally killed by a BB.

 

My efforts won us the game though - capped, damaged 4 enemy ships significantly and at the end of the match I was forth in the XP list.

 

This proves that despite me spending 10 minutes engaged with enemy fighters and 4 enemy ships, capping twice and decapping I still had less XP than 3 T10 BB's sitting BEHIND the start line in a cluster of 3 in the same grid. They basically sat there camp shooting & with 3 BB's in a T10 Division, they were untouchable by the enemy CV.

 

WG, the answer is simple: create a sliding XP & credit reward system where damage done at an "optimal" (variable depending on ship type and tier) distance gets standard XP, closer in that that and you get boosts to XP & credits, further out, penalties.

 

Similarly, if someone travels less than 10Km, penalise them.

hate new modules for cruisers. mogami 3.4 sec. wtf! 

 

I just can not take that move seriously by WG, feels like an april fools joke or something. It's like we don't know how to balance this, lets give it 'inertia dampeners' and a warp drive.

When will they learn that employing half trained slugs in their customer service department doesn't wash?

 

Yet another example of WG worming their way out of giving the promised bonus' to testers.

well ive struggled long and hard with this test,im pretty open gamewise i play all types,probably a little to aggressively,so from my point of view ,the problem with the bb is range,they have too much,cruisers are stuck ,no range to bb so they have to chase the game all the time and can get deleted at anytime from 1 salvo from the bb so i think the citadel needs to be much harder to hit for bb,cruiser to cruiser seems a fairly even match as its rare for range difference to come into play,dd i think were well balanced between gunship and torpes,now the nerf seem's to be coming down on russian dd,which to be honest isnt cool as no offer was made i.e long torps in exchange so going from 1 trick pony to zero trick isnt good.

costs in game are crazy tbh ,why do you want restricted play at high levels?the knock-down effect is t10 matches are full of t8 who are still trying to earn money and xp to move up,which slows everyone down.

hopefully thing's improve ,i like the game but between all the camping and citadel hits it can get to frustrating to play sometimes.

Don't know where else to put this:

 

It takes already 30 minutes to download the patch of 190MByte and it's still not finished. Current speed is 6 KB/s. It is not my connection. Tested parallel to this download another download. Can easily be 8MB/s.

 

I have only limited time to play this game. I am currently spending my entire time on downloading a small patch and will not be able to test anything. Not the first time that the small files download very slow. Usually the bigger files come in much faster.

I find this speed hardly accepatable.

I have found that in test 5.12 when trying to leave a division at the end of a battle the game freezes on the yes/no confirmation screen. This doesn't happen if you return to port after being sunk

I would like to see more carrier/plane animations like the following:

 

1. Planes entering hangar via elevator.

2. Elevator going up and down.

3. Planes navigating on the ship to prepare for take off.

4. Planes navigating towards elevator door or somewhere else on deck to be stored or reloaded.

5. Perhaps reloading sequences...

6. When squad is destroyed a new squad is brought up from elevator.

7. Perhaps a new gameplay element could be introduced where carrier players can decide to store the squads inside the carrier instead of on top of the carrier to prevent plane damage during heavy shelling of enemy ships onto carrier. And also vice versa... bring out planes on top of deck... ready to be deployed/launched.

8. Strafing could destroy planes on top of the deck.

 

All of this could make carrier play a bit more interesting ;)

 

Animations: Even if it's just one or two per squad it's better than nothing. or just the entire squad... or plane by plane... depending on how much time is available to show this.

 

Perhaps fire could then also destroy planes that are still up there for a bit more realistic damage to planes on carriers that are on fire or getting bombed.

 

A new damage type could be introduced specially for carriers: damage to elevator preventing planes from going back in or out of hangar...

 

(Don't think poll is usefull, since changes roll backed ? Also what changes besides armor (changes being rolled back) ??)
