I absolutely hate this ship, I just can't get it working. But, I admit, I blame both the ship, the meta, the mm, wg, venus, the moon, the pope, potus and god, so it's probably just me

 

I would skip it, but I am not in a rush to get Yamato either so I won't spend any free xp on it. Guess my teams will have to just suffer through me grinding it, sorry guys

eh, thats my biggest problem with it.

you only have 1 possible way to play it, and sitting in reverse bow on just isn't my type of gameplay.

on the other hand, if you charge in and have to back away, thats nearly impossible... huge ship, huge broadside exposing large citadel areas, and even if you survive all of that, they forgot to put armor on your stern, so every BB shooting at your @ss will deal you huge damage

but well, guns aren't that bad, damage/penetration wise, so I'll give him that.

and I currently have 26 games, with 80k avg damage and 1200 avg xp per battle...

Izumo was an OK ship, played it before the guns were buffed, I would xp it normally but I wanted to get to the Yamato so badly, that I used 50K free exp. I will tell you this, if you have the free exp use it.

At first I hated her, when I later learned how to play her I started to love her.

She is a very powerfull ship if played right. Just watch your surrounding, your biggest enemys are torpedos (ship or plane based). Maybe fire. But BBs? You eat them for breakfast.

 

Hated it that I needed her captain for Yamato. Still have her in port.

Problem is the Yam exists and her guns will demolish you if you attempt to do that slow frontal only thing... Anything T8 and T9 can be considered top tier in terms of what you might meet in MM. 

 

An Amagi I'd take into a T10 game, I wouldn't be hugely pleased but atleast I find the ship perfectly functional. 

 

I skipped most of the Izumo grind, wouldn't play again unless its to mess around on PT.

I'm on the Izumo too, got it fully upgraded. The grind through to hull C is hell, I mean really [edited]bad, I cannot adequately convey how crap the A hull is. 

 

Hull C is a big improvement and the front third of her armour is perfectly workable bow on, and her guns are fine (I've gone for faster reload speed) her secondaries are also very good. By far the biggest problems are she's bloody huge, can be spotted a mile away, doesn't have Yamato guns to lol pen through BB bow armour and she's so slow it makes it a pain to maneuver without exposing the broadside of the ship to enemy salvos for an extended period or dodging torpedoes, but doesn't have the Yamato's torpedo belt or armour to protect her. 

 

Get caught out of position you're screwed, especially due to her turret and armour layout. I'm stopping at T9 however until they sort out the T9/10 MM and game meta, no point in rushing to T10 to get your teeth kicked in by sniping BBs and ninja DD only to get a 250k repair bill. No thanks, T9 is as high as I'm going after my experience in the Hindenburg with T10 games pre shima nerfs.

It takes a while to get used to and needs the C hull to be good, but it is a really good ship. I enjoyed her far more than the Yamato once I got used to her.

IZUMO is amazing ship and my favorite BB. I am not trolling you, check my stats, i play this ship every day. I had enough XP on Izumo to buy Yamato even like 3 months ago, but no, i stay with my mighty izumo. This ship has amazing accuracy, best shell grouping, awesome secondaries decent speed and so on. But I know this is subjective, i am aware different players have different styles and preferences. I for example really hated Bayern, but it is good ship.

My only real gripe with the Izumo is the amount of damage it takes from HE, considering it has such a small superstructure compared to other battleships. Before I bought it I thought simply by the look of things it would be more similar to the Fuso in this regard but nope...

It took me a while to get used to the Izumo, but when i figured out how to play her, it was a boat load of fun and the grind was over way to soon.

 

I did however had to free xp the C hull, back then.

That was my thought about it as well, I can't imagine anyone really liking her when I look at her server stats. I would love to be able to play Iowa to get to Yamato instead

  I am non premium player, cant run two tier 10 ships every day. Already have Zao, this is why i stopped at Izumo. But i do meet Yamato in game as enemy, and yea those hits hurt, no matter how angled against it.

I don't like her at all but I will go the whole long painfull grind to Yama as I simply want to master her (will take some time). I don't think I ever fee-xped a ship (and I have more than enough to unlock Yama two times). All my free xp is for hull upgrades

I enjoyed the Izumo. I wasn't quite happy with her at first but eventually I liked her enough to keep her.

when was the last time you played it?

there was few changes, so nowadays B hull doesn't give that much to it, C hull on the other hand gives you A LOT more AA.

I tried to go for a full AA build like the Iowa/NC but you still get farmed by the Hakaryu and it takes away from Izumo's strengths.
