How many players are there in a random battle in higher tiers? So far at t2 I think the most I've seen was 6v6.

Decent numbers.

There's a newbie protection so absolute new beginners don't get totally clubbed.  They only play against other total beginners, so how many players there are depends how many new starters there are. When you play enough games then you'll join the general population, and the games will be 12v12

Well I am finding the game very playable with a high ping. You have to lead more when aiming, as there is a delay before the shots are fired, but they do actually go where you're aiming - no ghost shells here. I'm getting hits on DDs at 10km away if my aim is right, so I can't complain. It's skin-of-your-teeth maneuvers that are most affected, so I might be better off with a gunnery ship at medium range. Haven't even gotten to carriers yet, but this is one of the real-time games I can handle, along with War Thunder air battles (not ground forces, which rubberband all over the place).

In my experience, playing up to 100ms ping is manageable. This is not including hardware lag.

There were some battles where, my reticule (Scope) and distance (range meter) was incorrectly shown. As well as the enemy ships distance from my guns.

You can go also IJN (Imperial Japanese Navy) if You are looking for carriers...

Main difference (I just read the stats) Japs focus on torpedo bombers, US on Fighter squadrons to defend Your dive bombers (but I guess depends on configuration as well... I checked on hull upgrades and US Carriers tend to erase the torpedo bombers in favor of fighters and dive bombers).

As I read few times Carriers are more of a tactical playgame so if that suits Your fancy... and shurely helps with the lag...

Just be aware that in the latter stage of the game enemies can sneak up on You... Carriers are still primary objectives; more points for Your team if battle is developing on that side.

Check some tutorials on how to effectively hide Yourself (which means waypointing Your squadrons... takes more flight time, but helps in masquerading Your real position). BTW... don't stand still... A stationary ship is begging to be a target practice for somebody else...:teethhappy:

Re camouflage, yes wows has it but it's very different to wot.

Once your player level increases it will be available (level 9) but it needs to be purchased for every battle unlike wot (premium ships are treated differently and have permanent 'free' cammo) there are several different types (with different bonuses, not map type dependent) but I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Already played quite a few games and have quite average stats. Maybe half of my deaths are due to torpedo newbishness. Maneuvering is no problem, especially in a slower ship. It's leagues ahead of WoT in playability with high latency, especially since WoT seems to have devolved into a 5-minute rushfest. I don't like CVs much after all, mainly because you compete directly against other CVs, and have to coordinate with friendly CVs. Destroyers are actually quite nice to play because you get to choose your engagements, while capping and scouting require no aim. Not that aiming doesn't work, I just have to lead more. DDs are a bit of nightmare though, since I'm obviously disadvantaged in adjusting to sharp turns. So yeah, I'm glad to have found a good pvp game to play on this connection.

slower, but aiming with a huge delay is definitely not pleasant. if you like SPGs play carriers, then. it's the same in terms of being a pain in the arse, just with much more automated aids

Lol what. Battleships are the most like arty in gameplay, being like a cross of that and heavy tanks. Carriers are only similar in the way they're the odd class out that people moan about, and have an overhead view without draw distance limitations.
